Fat

Hello, the app track the nutrients but it seems all types of fat goes to the same account. Any way to split between good and bad fat?

MFP shows you the subtypes of fat: mono and polyunsaturated, saturated and trans.

I'm not going to get into the discussion of which toutes are good and bad, because it's nuanced. But a very broad generalisation (based on mainstream sources): trans is always bad, saturated fats OK in moderation and unsaturated generally good.

Also keep in mind that most of the database is usersourced. If a user entered only fat and no subtypes then you should find a better entry, or create your own. Also, the different subtypes might not be available on nutritional labels in every single country. This is an international food database.

Also, the mono- and polyunsaturated fats goals default to zero in MFP. That's because MFP generally uses standard nutritional advice (I believe generally US sources like FDA, USDA, NIH, etc.). Those sources, last I knew, hadn't set specific targets for mono- and polyunsaturated fats, though they endorse that getting some is generally good.

If you want non-zero targets for those fat categories, you can go in to your MFP Goals and set them to whatever you like, based on whatever sources you prefer (as you can with any of the goals).
