I read some threads about 40/30/30. I don't understand this. I know it has something to do with carbs/protein/fat. Does anyone follow this and how would I calculate mines if my allowed calories a day is 1600.

if you go to your fitness settings, you can go to custom and change the percentage of your fat/portein/carb and it will calculate it for you.

    i do 40 protein, 30 carb, 30 fat personally.

Thank you! I will check it out. But I don't know what to set mine as because I'm a big girl (apple shaped). I carry a lot of my weight in my mid section. My legs are getting smaller but my mid section is not budging. I eat a lot of carbs. What should I set mines at?

What foreman86 said. :-) I do this, too, although, in order to keep a VEEEERRRRRY stubborn body from plateauing, I also have to zig-zag my calories.

But, yes, those are percentages of protein, carb, fat typically. It's the percentages from the "zone" diet, I believe. I just went to my goal settings and changed it.

If you do this, though, I would suggest one other change -- make certain that you set your fiber intake to a minimum of 25 per day. High-protein can result in high-constipation if you don't. Moreover, if you are doing this, make certain that sugar is one of the things you track. It's VEEEERY easy to go over the sugar content on that percentage if you don't REALLY watch it. Your carbs need to come PRIMARILY from green, leafy vegetables. You need to cut WAY down on breads, beans, and ESPECIALLY fruits.

Honestly only a nutritionist could really advise you on that. But usually 40/30/30 protein, carb, fat, works well for most. Carbs aren't an enemy, but from what i've read between 100-150g of carbs a day is what a normal person should eat.

I can't see your diary so i'm not sure where your at right now. You can try starting at 40% carbs, 30% protein, 30% fat. This may be difficult at first to stay under carbs if you are currently eating a lot more, but try to stick to it! Your body will get used to it and you wont crave as much carbs after a while. If you really can't stick to a 40/30/30 then i you could try 45/30/25 or 50/25/25, and then try to slowly decrease the carbs over time. Its always the most important to listen to your body and adjust as needed. It doesnt make sense to try to decrease the carbs so low initially if you cannot stick to it as a lifetime change. Everybody is different so what may work for some may not work for you. Its best to pick one option, try it, and adjust as needed. :) I hope this helps.

I would strongly suggest finding out what your metabolic type is before changing that. I am a protein type so my protein intake is higher than my carbs. That works for me but that's for me personally. That may not be right for you. I used the following link as one way to confirm my type. It's a simple questionaire that will easily help you to see what type you are. You are welcome to take a look. Adjusting your numbers without knowing your type might hinder more than help if you are not adjusting them correctly for YOUR body.
