    Good morning everyone!

Weighed in at 177 today :flushed: that brings my average up .1 lb. Another day, another chance to get it together. Time to turn this around.

N was feeling better last night, but she still had diarrhea, so we're still at home today.

    Things I did yesterday:
    ✅call the doc
    start the playroom toy purge
    match all possible socks
    ✅finish the laundry
consider a home for all my books that's not the front room
    ✅do my volunteer work
sweep the porch, a la @nebslp
    ✅splits training
    ✅walking
✅give the cat his flea and tick meds
✅get most toys out of the living room
buy remaining christmas presents I haven't yet
package cookies and prep to send

    BONUS:
✅ cleaned out beneath the kitchen sink

So we're going to do the rest today. I finally have all the addresses I need for the cookies, and the ziplocks, so packaging those will be easy. I also need to do:
    • more volunteer work
    • go to the council meeting
    • stay on top of dishes
    • at least make a list of what presents I still need to buy, at least that, lol

    Tag party time:
@ChawnkieBawnie welcome! my highest was around what yours was, so I know you can do it. It might be quick, it might take longer, but as long as you keep your head in the game even enough to keep track of where you are and the direction you're going in, you're going to do it. Some things that have helped me (and things I need to keep learning over and over, haha):
    • track average weight, that will tell you better than daily swings. Libra or HappyWeight (depending on which type of phone you have) will do that for you. I use MacroFactor to log my food and weight, and it does it for me automatically.
    • log everything. Get in the habit of logging everything. Even on bad days. Especially on bad days. If you don't log everything, you fall into the "why is this weight happening" pothole. And yes, I still fall in this one. I fell into it just recently. It happens when I don't log everything. So log everything!
    • Movement is important for health AND weight loss, so find a type of movement you like!

    @lisakatz2 that's right! :smiley:

Time to fill my tumbler of water so I can drink water instead of snacking and turn this thing around! Have a great day, everyone!

12/3 Weight: 236.3 (that was a shocker but understandable after all I ate Sat-Mon.)
    12/10 236.8
    December goal: 228

    Working on:
    1. Posture exercises 6/7 days (5/10)
    2. Stretch/Mobility 5/7 days (0/10)
    3. Weights 2/7 days (1/10)
    4. Sleep - be in bed before midnight 5/7 days (only 4/10 so far)
    5. active hours 8/12 hours 6/7 days (I have not been prioritizing this and have only met my goal 2 days:(

Goal: For my mental health I will be 1) organizing my photos, 2) working on creative projects, 3) trying to get my life together aka organizing my home
Update: (I haven't touched my photos this month, I'm designing a bag for my granddaughter and will be working on making a practice one today, and I can't even find my second Santa box so organization is looking bleak)
Needless to say, my mental and physical health is down the tubes at the moment! I haven't even tried to meet my goals. I don't do well when I'm constantly on the road going to grandkids' events and then sitting on folding chairs or bleachers for hours at a time. 5 hours on Fri, 8 on Sat. and 4 yesterday. If you've never been to a Black Belt ceremony that lasted 5 1/2 hours, let me tell you, it's a little much!!! But I'm so grateful I can go climb up those bleachers and walk from one end of the parking lot to the other end of the school to watch them. I had 2 kids here for a couple of nights and the parents here on Sunday to practice trap shooting. Fun, Fun times:) but I don't handle lack of routine well at all.

Stress is inevitable, so I need to figure out how to handle it better. Having a structured daily routine sounds so boring to me and sometimes I feel like I thrive on chaos, but I know that's not true. Because obviously I'm not thriving!! I have 3 more activities this week, two of which involve hours of drive time so I better get my routine going on the days I'm home...like today! Sorry to be whiney but I'm feeling pretty down these days. Mostly just tired.

@CupcakeCrusoe You're doing better than I am with the broom. It's SO cold in the mornings that I don't go out (I'd have to wear shoes and a coat LOL) and I forget later in the day. This morning there was snow that I could have swept but didn't. So that's one routine I've lost but need to start again or replace it because that outside air is so great!

I did lose this morning but wasn’t going to post since I am just losing what I gained over the birthday weekend. I thought that was just going to be 1 night out and a breakfast after Aquafit. But then my youngest took us out to a great breakfast place Saturday morning too for their Dad’s birthday. His birthday dinner was all out. Sunday his actual birthday was simpler but in the rush to pick up his sister at the airport we had to grab hamburgers and that always is too many calories. However I have been bringing it back down towards my latest low this week.

I am posting because I had a great walk today. Monday I had a great walk pushing the length and today I pushed longer and I had my walking sticks which I feel take more energy to use. I used them because on the last bit of my Monday walk my bad leg was complaining. I walked for 15 minutes more than Monday today. So I am making strides on my priority goal to up my stamina. I do not feel as weak as earlier this year but I have more to go.

We are taking my sister-in-law out tomorrow night. We plan to go to an afternoon tea to celebrate our anniversary next week. So I need to really be good on most other days.

@quolwy That is exciting you are starting with a personal trainer.

@CupcakeCrusoe I hope your baby is better. What a list! I know what you mean ablut updating the calendar. We have 3 adults sharing 2 cars. My baby, also an N is 30!

@rorymason I started out on my walk today and thought oh no I forgot to drink more water. Drinking a glass now.

@lisakatz a high calorie day may put you up for a day or 2 but in the long run it is the weekly calorie deficit that matters.

@ChawnkieBawnie Welcome. This is a great supportive group.

@nebsip I think you have a love hate relationship with your at home days and your away from home days. It sounds to me like you are discounting a lot of activity you are doing on the days that are not at home. There may be a lot of sitting but there is also a lot of walking to and from the event and up bleachers etc. Having grandkids over is probably pretty active too. One of the healthiest things we can do is being in relationship with others. So being involved with grandkids and adult kids lives is very healthy. Maybe separate your goals into at home days and days you are with family. If you have a day with grandkids and you get in posture exercises give yourself an extra point. My grandkid is in Houston. I just spent 10 days with him, my son and daughter-in-law. It was wonderful but the trip there and back was a lot of hard work. I may not have been taking my walks that I was doing before but I walked a long way through the airports and some walks with my grandson. I thought of you when I got outside and swept our little front porch recently. My youngest adult child, living at home just became a Union Apprentice Laborer and brings a lot of mud and dirt home. There weren’t any jobs in their field (Computer Software Engineer). I think people used to sweep their front porches everyday in the past. I hardly needed to until now.

    Hello

Serial starter here. I usually am hovering around 214 pounds but had some upsetting news about a health condition and ate my worries and today am 225 :(

You would think ( well at least a normal thinking person would) that the health info would be the motivation to get myself in the best shape I can in order to get ready for the future so that I will be in good shape to fight the illness, but instead Im eating whatever I want, not sleeping well and not moving off the couch much. I am too much in my head.

My goal for December is to get back to my usual 214-216 weight and to be more health conscious and stop the unhealthy behaviors.

    SW: 225
    CW: 225
    GW: 170

I know WHAT to do, I just have to DO it.
So here is to December.🥂 ( Minus the alcohol, of course).

Well, I could have written this myself!

Years ago I lost 100lbs with MFP. It has changed a lot since then and I’m struggling to figure it out. This group seems like great support though.

❄️ My goal is to kickstart with 5lbs by Christmas. I’m currently not doing anything but eating so if I track it will be easy.

❄️ I will weigh in daily. It’s what works best for me. I’ll post here weekly on Wednesdays.

Can’t wait to make some new friends and better choices again 🫶🏻

    Good morning everyone!

Weighed in .1 below my average, not enough to bring it down, but enough that I'm not bringing it up. After IUD placement, this first period is really a challenge, lol.

N is still not better, so we are still at home again today. At least I am getting a lot of things done around the house. At this rate, I'll be able to spend my Christmas break lazily doing things instead of sweatily doing things, haha. Usually it's a flurry of home improvements while I don't have the kids around, but this time might be different (it won't, haha).

So things I've done, and things I intend to do:
    Good morning everyone!

Weighed in at 177 today :flushed: that brings my average up .1 lb. Another day, another chance to get it together. Time to turn this around.

N was feeling better last night, but she still had diarrhea, so we're still at home today.

✅get most toys out of the living room
    ✅buy remaining christmas presents I haven't yet
✅package cookies and prep to send

    BONUS:
✅ cleaned out beneath the kitchen sink
✅ more volunteer work ✅ go to the council meeting ✅ stay on top of dishes ✅ at least make a list of what presents I still need to buy, at least that, lol

    Also today:
    • make a loaf of sourdough
    • try to fix the christmas lights outside - command hooks are no good for hanging a garland, turns out.
    • try to finish the USS Constitution lego kit to get it out of the way
    • Actually get my books out of the front room to make room for the Constitution
    • look at countertop for over my shelves in the front room
    • Ask whatsisface to pick up an IKEA gift card for my brother, and to pick up the family picture from walgreens
    • wrap what presents I have for everyone

See, getting so much done.

    Tag party time:
@nebslp Thinking you thrive on chaos is something I totally do as well  Wishing you peace, and finding your second santa box. Designing a bag sounds so cool! It's going to be great when it's finished.

@KeriA so glad to hear you had a nice walk. That's a lot of events back to back, but a nice big breakfast sounds amazing, haha.

    @swauters welcome!

@JenLosesIt welcome! 5 lbs before the new year is a lofty goal, but depending on where you're starting from, it's doable!

Alright, time to get my water and get today going. Tonight will be KFC bowls but lighter, with mashed cauliflower instead of potatoes and low fat ranch instead of gravy, and lower cal chicken tenders from Costco. And playing pirates with the boys. Have a great day, everyone!

    Good morning everyone!

Weighed in the 175s again this morning, thank goodness, we're back. Pulling that average down.

N is better today I think (cross your fingers) so we are just waiting to make sure she's 24 hours symptom free before she can return to school. So today is the platonic ideal of a sick day- no cleaning up sickness, just keeping the baby occupied and tying up my household loose ends from all my work this week, lol. Then back to work tomorrow just in time for Friday!

    To do list for today:
Things I did what year is it:
    ✅call the doc
    ✅start the playroom toy purge
    ✅match all possible socks
    ✅finish the laundry
✅consider a home for all my books that's not the front room
    ✅do my volunteer work
sweep the porch, a la @nebslp
    ✅splits training
    ✅walking
✅give the cat his flea and tick meds
✅get most toys out of the living room
    ✅buy remaining christmas presents I haven't yet
✅package cookies and prep to send

    BONUS:
✅ cleaned out beneath the kitchen sink
✅ more volunteer work ✅ go to the council meeting ✅ stay on top of dishes ✅ at least make a list of what presents I still need to buy, at least that, lol
    Also yesterday:
    • make a loaf of sourdough
    • try to fix the christmas lights outside - command hooks are no good for hanging a garland, turns out.
    • try to finish the USS Constitution lego kit to get it out of the way
✅ Actually get my books out of the front room to make room for the Constitution
    • look at countertop for over my shelves in the front room
    • Ask whatsisface to pick up an IKEA gift card for my brother, and to pick up the family picture from walgreens
    • wrap what presents I have for everyone

So today will just be finishing up the list, I think. It would be great if I could finish the playroom to a liveable state, as right now I've got piles in there from going through all the toys yesterday to throw out trash or those that were broken or lost pieces. I took out three garbage bags full yesterday! It's good to do this before Christmas, though. Have to remember that for next year.

Also today, in fun: going to try to finish up the USS Constitution (it's the Constellation, shhh, they didn't make a Constitution and the Constellation is the same class, lol. It's for Boston, we've been trying to have a little lego building or something for each place we go on vacation, so Constitution was Boston's. Let me tell you, the Lincoln Memorial lego figure is SO SMALL lol. But Himeji Castle is beautiful and large.)

Time to get my water going and get my butt in gear. Lots to do today to get ready for the return to work (for one day this week, lol) tomorrow.

    Have a great day, everyone!

Ok….can I have some of this sourdough too 😂 yum!

I used some compand hooks inside my patio for lights they are holding up but they don’t get wet. I tried hooks for wreaths tho on my windows and they SLID down 😂

I am slacking in the water also. Going to use my water llama app the rest of the week. That helps! Have a good one!

[*] make a loaf of sourdough
[*] try to fix the christmas lights outside - command hooks are no good for hanging a garland, turns out.!

    Hello everyone
    Weigh in day for me:
The good: I lost weight. I logged. I made healthier choices.
The bad: Didnt walk or drink water at all :(. Zero self care ( l will explain below). Sleep about the same. Okay but not great.

    SW:225
    12/7 weight: 220.3
    12/14 weight: 218.7
Weight loss so far this month: 6.3 pounds
    GW: 175

This year has totally sucked for us. Probably as bad or maybe worse than covid. I was actually looking foward to the new year and saying adios to this one.

Have not attempted to walk as has been freezing here. We usually head to a warmer climate where I am much more active, but now my hubby, who never has any medical issues, will likely need to have surgery soon, so our plans hopefully will be just delayed and not cancelled.

I was the one who was the potential spoiler with my medical issues ( and stlll am. I will see what my labs show next week). But now he has stepped up.

They say bad things happen in threes? This year more like twelves! I might get some sage and sage our house and maybe ourselves at this point!

At any rate all this means is I have alot to do to get my house and things in order for christmas and for his surgery. And stick to logging and not derail.

Just remebered I have tickets for him for next weekend for a concert for his christmas present, and will likely be unable to do that now.

    Ugh!

Hope you all have a good week :)

12/3 Weight: 236.3 (that was a shocker but understandable after all I ate Sat-Mon.)

    December goal: 228

    Working on:
    1. Posture exercises 6/7 days
    2. Stretch/Mobility 5/7 days
    3. Weights 2/7 days
    4. Sleep - be in bed before midnight 5/7 days
    5. active hours 8/12 hours 6/7 days

Goal: For my mental health I will be 1) organizing my photos, 2) working on creative projects, 3) trying to get my life together aka organizing my house

I haven't been doing well on my goals but am feeling better about life in general than I had been. I was able to stay home today and the next two days as well so I'm super happy about that. I've been logging again. I want to make the process easier so will figure something out on that. I focus on macro ratio mostly. I'm almost always short on protein by a few percentage points and over on fats.

The Santas remain in hiding. I think what happened is that we had a sewer line replaced last spring and had to move everything out and back into the storage room. I wasn't part of that so who knows where they ended up. I still have 10 days to find them or we'll have to cancel Christmas (LOL).

I had given up my sweeping days because of the cold, but a few days ago I felt so good that I threw on some shoes, grabbed my broom, and went out to the deck in my robe. It was a definitely a speedy sweep but the air felt so fresh and good! Getting outside just puts me off to such a great start to the day. When I went inside I noticed the temperature was 14 degrees with a feel like temp of 5. But there wasn't any wind so I didn't feel cold. This morning there was a coating of ice so I wisely stayed inside and swept the kitchen instead.

It's been great to see so many comments this month. I'll do a separate post for catch ups!

Hello! I'm sorry if I miss someone. I do read all comments and am inspired by many and my heart goes out to all of you who are struggling with one thing or another. Life is not for the weak or cowardly.

@strengthenKae Have you found a hobby to replace snacking? How's that going? I like anything with needles helps keeps me busy and that makes the time fly without thinking about food. I like your comment "I can't give up on myself".

@rorymason I'm sorry about your husband having to have surgery and your change of travel plans. That would be very disappointing. And I hope you get good test results for yourself and you start the new year off well. Self care for myself means getting lost in a good book, taking a quick 10 minute meditation, or listening to a podcast or audiobook while I'm busy doing dishes or anything that doesn't take much competing brain power. I've also started a daily lotion practice every night that's become a habit. Or sweeping the deck! Any little thing that lifts up my spirits a bit. I hope you find your favorite method.

@reginakaricatz It sounds like you're healing well after your foot was broken. Like nothing can keep you down for long!

@lisakatz2 Great job on passing up the pie for the apple. That takes inner strength and determination!
And it's paying off in fitting into smaller sizes. WTG!

@CupcakeCrusoe I hope your little one is all better today. Having sick ones was the hardest thing about having little kids at home. I bet there are lots of extra cuddles all around before having to go back to school. Your list looks a lot like mine but mine is missing most of the checkmarks (LOL). Every two days I make a new list but it often looks the same as the one before. Hmmm! And is laundry ever really done???!!
Your self-reflection on morning hunger is interesting and probably the answer to figuring it out and coming up with a solution.
Did you find your walking shoes? I've tried and returned 3 pairs to Amazon, decided I needed to do the in-person thing. Now those won't work so I have to drive over an hour to return them next week. I found some at Kohl's but not true-blue walkers. Price of 5 pairs ranged from $60-$168 so cost doesn't translate into comfort. I always get New Balance but none are working now so maybe it's time for a new brand. In the meantime I'll wear my almost 5 year old ones that feel pretty awesome yet.

@KeriA How are you doing with your eye issues by now? Did your dr release you to do more activities? I'm sure your walks helped you navigate the airport much easier than if you hadn't started them. The airport chaos is hard, but worth it when you see the people you love on the other end of the flight. It's hard having them so far away but fortunately I can visit my daughter in TX once in awhile. I do have a love/hate relationship with being home and away. I absolutely love doing both so I shouldn't complain when I get a bit overwhelmed by it all. It's good for me because when I get out and spend time with family and friends my heart rate variability shoots up way above my norm (that's a good thing). Laughing and hugs bring down the stress levels!

@ChawnkieBawnie Ugh...that Covid weight gain hit me hard, too. It's slowly going down but not as fast as it went on. Hope we're on the right track now and lose it once and for always!

@JenLosesIt Welcome! Looking forward to hearing more about how things are going for you.

@jenbroussard71 You've had a great loss this year! How are you getting along?

@quolwy A 12 week transformation sounds so great! I need someone to help me structure my workouts so I will actually start to work out. Then I wouldn't have any excuses...or maybe I'd come up with something. Do you like your personal trainer and do you feel like it's going well? Would love to hear!

    Happy weekend to you all!

Total WL/G for the month =

Whew, I just got back from a trip to visit my mom in the deep south for Thanksgiving and stayed over two weeks but I managed to maintain my weight! 🙌 We ate out quite a bit and I didn't hold back on enjoying lots of soul food so I'm happy about maintaining.

I don't know if I'll be able to make my modest goal this month but I'm motivated to stay 100% on track until the feast on Christmas. A few days after Christmas I'll be traveling to visit my brother and his family, so that will be a few more untracked days this month. Still, I will be able to keep on track for the vast majority of the rest of the month, so that's what I'm focusing on. 🌟 Happy holidays to y'all! 🎄

Hi everyone, I'd love to join in.

    I'm a chronic restarter and yo-yo'er.

❄️ What are you trying to achieve this month? What have you already achieved this year?
This month, I'd love to just see SOME kind of movement on the scale. I've been stuck between 220 and 222 lbs since last month. Can't seem to get it to go down. (I've only just started using MFP to track my macros again this month, so fingers crossed this is the push that will make this happen!)

❄️ How do you plan to celebrate the holidays and are there any strategies you will be putting in place to help you through?
We always have so many Christmases we have to attend: with my in-laws, with my mother, and with my father. It's always a bit overwhelming and stressful. I think if I can work on coping with the stress, that will save me from overeating. Other than that, I'm going to allow myself to enjoy all the goodness of the season.

    Starting Weight (06/29/2024): 227.6 lbs
Current Weight: 220 - 222 lbs (I haven't weighed myself recently because I started my period)
December Goal Weight: Anything below 220 would make me happy!
Long Term Goal Weight: 130 - 140 lbs

I've been doing a month long workout program from Youtube with hubby. Mostly daily; we tend to take one mid-week break on Thursdays, and sometimes we take a rest day on the weekend, depending on our schedule. We're currently on day 19 out of 31.

While the scale hasn't moved, I've started to notice some non-scale victories. Trying to use those to keep me motivated!

I think I'll check in on Friday - that's the day I usually weigh myself (to try and keep myself motivated to tackle the weekend lol)

    Thanks for having me!

I finally got down to close to my low from earlier in the month today after going up after birthday celebrations for my husband. I had a good day yesterday making a healthy meal and taking a walk. Tomorrow is our anniversary so hopefully I won't go up again. I find that if you go to better restaurants the food is healthier so dinner tomorrow should be good. We will also go to afternoon tea on Saturday.

My eye seems to have stabilized. I still have floaters but I think they are getting better. I go to the eye doctor today. I have gotten in some walks so far this week - one longer than the other.

I figured out Christmas we will have just a small family dinner on Christmas Eve and go to my sisters on Christmas for a larger family meal. The time between Thanksgiving and Christmas is short and we were away at my son's. N (my youngest adult child who lives with us) is only getting Christmas day off since she has a new job.

I am hoping to lose another pound before the end of the year. I am also hoping to walk around Greenlake too. I think I could do it now with a rest at 2 miles. I looked up how to ferment vegetables so I can get some probiotics in my system. Maybe a project for next year or after Christmas.

Hello everyone, I've been MIA a little bit lately. I have continued to log my food and exercise. To be honest I've been feeling a little off the last few weeks. Maybe I'm overwhelmed by all of the demands at this time of year? Maybe it's my hormones? I honestly haven't been able to figure it out.

The scale has been going in the wrong direction, and I am doing my best not to let that derail me. I have a scan on Monday with my trainer, I hope I see muscle gains.

My hair is falling out quite a bit. I think it might be due to menopause. I am eating healthier than I ever have and I am eating enough calories. I will be addressing this with my doctor soon. My FSH numbers say that I am in menopause, but my uterus is not agreeing. My emotions are all over the place...the joys of becoming a mature woman.

I apologize for being so blah....I am just hoping that one of you or some of you can relate and maybe give some advice or maybe some humor to help me get over this season of life.

    This too shall pass...right?

Hope you are all doing well and that you have a wonderful Christmas. Stay safe out there.

    Hello everyone

Weigh in day for me was yesterday. I should have weighed in yesterday morning, as last night I had a spiked hot chocolate, a hot toddy and 3 munchkin sized lemon ricotta donuts.

The good: I lost a little weight. I logged ( but not the past 2 days. Im back on it). I made healthier choices.( before last night I was golden, lol).

The bad: Didnt walk or drink water at all :(. Zero self care. Hubby had surgery but of course there was a complication. Hes ok but Needs alot of assistance in the short term. So things are disorganized and hectic. Im thankful he seems to be on the mend.

    SW:225
    12/7 weight: 220.3
    12/14 weight: 218.7
    12/22 weight: 218.4
Weight loss so far this month: 6.7 pounds

@jenbroussard71 been there done that. Yes, its not fun, but I can assure you it definitely will pass and things will get better. Hope you are feeling better soon

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas! I know I will be partaking more than usual, but will try to be mindful and not go full templeton 🐀 at the fair 🤣

    My Numbers:
    SW: 263.4 lbs (Nov 1 2023)
    CW: 178.6 lbs
    GW: 175 lbs
    LTGW: 140 lbs

    Weigh-ins: Sundays
    12/1/24 =
    12/8/24 =
    12/15/24 = 178.6 lbs
    12/22/24 = 175.4 lbs
    12/29/24 =
Total WL/G for the month = -3.2 lbs

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate! My goal was to stay on track this month aside from the few days I'll be with family and I've been able to make it, so I'm feeling proud and optimistic to have seen some loss!

My husband and I went ahead and booked our tickets to Japan for next spring - April 2 through April 16! Going to Japan has been a huge motivator for me to stay on track this past year and it really feels like my efforts are paying off. I wanted to lose a big chunk of weight so that travel (it's a 16 hour flight! 😵‍💫) and walking/sightseeing would be easier. I didn't want my weight to hold me back on this trip of a lifetime! My new years goal will be to walk on the treadmill at least 3 times per week to build up some endurance for the trip! 😊

    .

Make sure you are not eating too much fish (tuna, salmon, other fish). 2 servings a week is considered safe but more will be too much mercury. My niece was eating too much and her hair started to fall out. Her grandmother (my Mom) told her she was eating too much tuna. She was living in Africa and was pescatarian and couldn't find enough vegetarian food. She stopped eating so much fish and the hair loss stopped and her hair got thicker again. Anyway too much mercury in your diet will cause hair loss.

    @rorymason Nice progress.
@mmatcha_latte Nice progress for you too. When we went to France last year I couldn’t walk as long as I wanted to but the travel helped. I lost weight even eating all that French food.

Happy Boxing day, Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah and holidays!
Well I lost the weight gain for my husband’s birthday and then hit our anniversary and Christmas but didn’t gain quite as much so I will have to try to get that off and hope to lose another additional lb before New Years. The problem being is the leftovers from Christmas. Stollen, German potato salad, cheeses and chacuterie meats, pecan pie and gifted treats.

We went to Aquafit on Sunday and to Pike Place Market on Monday where we walked a lot and hope to get a walk in today.

Well, I've fallen off the wagon this holiday season. All the cookies and chocolate surrounding me at work, plus hubs bought be lots of chocolate for Xmas. I felt doomed. Afraid to step on the scale. Been binging on chocolate. I know this won't last, but I have to put a stop to this sooner rather than later. :-(

@lisakatz2 ditto. I was templeton at the fair. Someone bought me chocolates from kakawa chocolate in Santa fe. I made myself weigh in this morning. Up 3 pounds. Back tracking today.

@KeriA Thanks. I have half a carrot cake in the fridge as we speak.

@mmatcha_latte Your overall progress gives me hope

@KeriA - Thank you for the information about the fish. We eat fish maybe twice a month, but we eat shrimp more often. I will have to research to see if shrimp contain mercury as well. I know they contain iodine as my dad is allergic.

I have an appointment in 8 days to cut my hair to a shorter length. Hopefully that will help some. I think my issue is a combination of things - menopause, stress, medication (steroid injections for joint pain) and maybe a natural shedding period. The perfect storm. My stylist has always told me that our hair changes every 10 years or so. I do have some new growth that is coming in, but it is growing curlier. This is strange since my hair has always been naturally straight.

I haven't stepped on the scale this week; I plan on weighing in on Monday. I am still working out with my trainer twice a week. This week we did the same exercises that I've been doing but changed the reps and weight each time. For example, on lat pull downs we started at 12 reps for at a lighter weight, then added weight for 10 reps, then added for 8 reps. All the way down to 2 reps at my heaviest weight. I am proud to say that I can now deadlift 90 pounds (my former PR was 75 lbs) and lat pull 90 pounds as well. It's crazy to think that on 1/17/2024 I had back surgery - L4 / L5 fusion. My body scans show that I am building muscle and losing fat (my body composition is changing). I cannot wait to see what I can accomplish in 2025!

I am ready to get back to my normal routine now that Christmas has passed. My hubby and I don't go out for NYE, if we do anything we will go to dinner. He has to work on New Years Day (he's a firefighter) so there will be no late-night party for us. Besides Riley (my Boston terrier) is terrified of fireworks. So, I will stay home and comfort her with cuddles and trazadone. The next holiday is Mardi Gras, which means King Cake season. Thankfully I am a king cake snob and will only partake if it comes from a certain bakery.

When I think about the beginning of 2024 and where I am now, I am so thankful that I made the choice to make changes this year. I am a work in progress, I may not be where I hoped to be right now, but I will get there. Giving up is not an option.

I hope you all are doing well. Remember to give yourself grace when you go off of your plan - especially during the holidays.

@jenbroussard71 I had always straight hair. It is fine but full in that I had a lot of hair. When I turned grey my hair got more curly. It is either wavy or soft curls. My Dad had curly hair and I've heard that curly hair can often be fine. I decided that if I dyed my hair it would have to be my favorite color (red). I didn't look good in red hair so I let it go grey. I am enjoying my curls. My hair is thinning very slowly so I am good for now.

I too wondered about whether shell fish has mercury in it. It would make sense. I am interested in nutrition and what different foods are helpful for. I found this: https://www.fda.gov/food/consumers/advice-about-eating-fish It looks like shrimp has less mercury. We eat salmon about once a week and it says we could have more.

Well I turned the corner down just a bit weight wise but I need to watch out for the goodies sent to us. The ones we make are almost gone. I have most of a pecan pie though. It is a chess pie with pecans, coconut and raisins so their is some good nutrition mixed in with the sugar and it also has eggs and no corn syrup. However I only like to have a small piece so I don't think it will be my downfall.

We plan to go to aquafit this afternoon.

    Good morning everyone!

Last Saturday weigh in day of 2024, and it's not good news, haha.

    36 years old

    SW: 220ish
    Re-SW (Feb 2022): 200.4
    UGW: 150
    2024 goal weight: 172
    SW 2024: 182.7

    ❄️ December Goals!❄️
    ❄️ December GW Average: 172

    💙 December SW 12/1: 177 (average)
    12/7: 176.4 (average)
    12/28: 177.6 (average)

So, I guess the bright(er) spot here is that I haven't gone up a lot in average, average changes slowly. I'm seeing some very high weights (179.6 this morning) because my eating has been out of control lately, what with the holiday, and the leftovers from the holiday. I still haven't seen 180, so this is my red line and my signal to turn it around.

Like @KeriA, I got most of a pecan pie pressed upon me, haha.

Alright, so recovery actions for today!

    1. Fill in the excel spreadsheet for 2024, even though it's recently been painful to think about.
    2. Drink. my. water.
    3. Go to the gym! (3 classes today- poles, pole flow, and advanced poles).
    4. Log EVERYTHING before I eat it.
    5. Try to find my fitbit charger (or buy a new one, honestly) - it's disappeared, and I need the step counter.
    6. Meal plan for the new year, make grocery list
    7. get my butt back in this thread tomorrow to update on these.

Alright, enough about recovery actions! Time to do tag party before I get it in gear!
@jenlosesit WATER LLAMA APP! I'm looking for it immediately.

@rorymason I'm manifesting a stress free better 2025 for you

@nebslp I haven't found walking shoes yet, but my Hokas survive, much like your old ones, so we'll keep on until I have the time or space to find new ones. Before the kids come back from Grandma's house would be a good time for me, so maybe I'll look for shoes today or tomorrow.

@mmatcha_latte maintaining through holidays is a big accomplishment! SO excited for you, we went to Japan this year around that time of year, and the sakura are so magical. Definitely a great trip, and having an easier more comfortable time in that long flight is great motivation.

@NewNelle24 I love it when people work out with their spouses, so fun.

@KeriA allll the kimchi! That's what I love. I bought a big tub of it from costco, haha.

@jenbroussard71 I haven't gotten to that stage of life yet, but if none of your doctors are worried, then this too shall pass! We throw a NYE party every year just for neighborhood kids to come by if they want, and I have a cool new puzzle (with a story I reveal by putting it together!) I'm looking at doing for NYE.

@lisakatz2 today is a great day to get started on the new year.

Alright, I think I got everyone, have a great day, kick it's butt!

Went down a small bit again today to keep after the Christmas lbs. Most of the leftovers are meats and cheeses now but still have some pecan pie and the goodies sent to us in the house. We went to aquafit yesterday, a walk the day before and plan a walk today. What has helped is a chicken soup I made since N was sick before Christmas. I make it with a whole chicken so there are a lot of leftovers. We have been having some of the leftover meats and cheeses and salad with it for dinner so it is a relatively good way to use up the leftovers. We have been having some leftover stollen for breakfast. I think by Monday I will be back to my usual diet and can start to lose more. No parties until New years day.

@CupcakeCrusoe I did see my redline for one morning just after Christmas.

    Good morning everyone!

Ugh, 180.6 on the scale this morning. But I was in the gym for 3 hours yesterday and I'm super sore today. Also, I logged everything yesterday and stayed under 1600 cal, so this is water weight.

    How'd we do yesterday:
✅1. Fill in the excel spreadsheet for 2024, even though it's recently been painful to think about.
    ✅2. Drink. my. water.
✅3. Go to the gym! (3 classes today- poles, pole flow, and advanced poles).
✅4. Log EVERYTHING before I eat it.
    5. Try to find my fitbit charger (or buy a new one, honestly) - it's disappeared, and I need the step counter. ✅ bought it from Amazon, as nowhere near me has a fitbit luxe charger, which is wild. It'll be here today  even though I hate amazon.
✅6. Meal plan for the new year, make grocery list
✅7. get my butt back in this thread tomorrow to update on these.

✅ looked at shoes, went to a running shoe store to ask. Found I liked asics gel cumulus 26's, they're not cheaper than hokas, but they're bringing out a new model (27s) on January 10th, so I'll check back in after then to see if the 26s get a price decrease. The gel cumulus 25s are on sale right now, but I can't make myself pull the trigger on them while my Hoka's are still okay. So we'll see what happens after the 10th.

    Alright, for today!
    1. drink my water.
    2. log everything before I eat it.
    3. clear out the garden (or make a good start)
    4. clean the house
    5. put away the laundry

The kids come home tomorrow, and I'm doing indoor skydiving! Then later that night, I'm doing the gym for my chair acrobatics class. Busy day tomorrow, I've got to set up everything for the kids to be home today. Then I'll have NYE to clean the house and prep for the NYE party while the girls go to the youth center. Then the new year! And I'll have a few more days to tie up loose ends before going back to work (boo).

@KeriA you're dealing with leftovers really well! I'm trying to do the same.

    Have a great day, everyone!

    12/31 weight: 218.9
Weight loss this month: 6.1 pounds

Im afraid I am still doing my same lil dance looking at 12/14 to 12/31. Time to curtail that! Tracking is key!

I tripped and fell saturday and banged myself up and hit my head. Luckily no major injury though I am still sore with a few bruises.

Im eager to say goodbye to 2024.

Went out yesterday and bought really good (at least I hope they are) and very expensive walking sneakers which sounds ridiculous as I have not been walking BUT after next week I should be walking quite a bit.

Wishing you all a Happy and Healthy New Year!

Well, I knew my eating was off, but I was surprised to see that number. I told my trainer yesterday that it feels like the whole month of December was about me meeting other people's expectations and not taking the time to take care of myself. Her response was the good news is that December is over, and you can get focused again. This is true. I feel like I need to get back to the basics and that is what I am doing starting today.

Happy New Year everyone! Looking forward to the January thread. I also want to say that I appreciate you all. Your comments and your stories help me to learn and inspire me.
