Finding a good community

Can anyone tell me ways to find people who are looking to improve their health, talk to one another, support each other, and keep each other on track in their goal to become healthy.

I've ran the same thread for over 13 years now.

As a generality, take a look around here and find challenge, motivation, or other threads that seem like they'd be fun and useful for you. Usually, if there's some special way to join in, the first post in the thread will give instructions. If there aren't instructions there, read the most recent few posts to get a feel, then just reply on the thread to participate.

One thing: For long running threads, like that good 13-year one Ninerbuff mentioned up-thread, don't be dismayed if you open them up and see old posts. The new posts are at the end, on the high-numbered pages. You can jump straight there using the number/arrow clicks near the top and bottom of each page of the thread. Once you read/reply into the last page of the thread, clicking on it will take you to the most recent area. Any thread that's on the first page or so of a topic area has had at least some recent activity.

You can use bookmarks or notifications to go back to those threads. If you need more instructions about either of those, reply back here and ask. I can post some screen grabs. I don't want to bore you with that, though, if you see how right away on your own.

The biggest concentration of ongoing threads like that are in these two areas:

    https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/categories/motivation-and-support
    https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/categories/challenges

. . . but there are others spread around in other topic areas, too. Take a look around, see what appeals to you. I'd also encourage you to post your own threads with questions or if you're hitting a bump in the road and need info or encouragement. Most people here IME are nice and truly want to help, though the communication styles can range from warm'n'fuzzy to tough love. ;) Focus on the styles that resonate with you, ignore the others, and you'll do fine, I predict.

It's also great to reply on existing general threads, if you have ideas/thoughts that are on-topic to that thread. Dive in! I feel like this is a place we can get more out of if we put ourselves into it.

Wishing you success with your goals . . . ones that many people here do share!

I see you've posted several times over a period of a few years with the same request.

    Here's the thing...

It's on you to make this happen.

No one held my hand, no one stopped me from eating ice cream, no one made me put on my lace-up shoes and go out and exercise.

I had to do that. Me.

I did find people along the way who were also on a path of self-care, but by definition that means they are looking out for themselves. Cooking meals at home. Finding ways to exercise that they enjoy. Logging food. Stepping on the body-weight scale. All these things are singular self-motivation type things.

As the ads say, "Get out there." People will appear...but not by posting here, necessarily.
