    Thank you, @mtaratoot !
I'm Chris - 74 year old female...5'5" ...I used to be 5'7" but arthritis hit and I lost two inches, so now that two inches is squished around my waist like the billows of a big accordion...
...Oh, well. I'll just keep working on it.
My husband and I are retired.
I see my trainer for 60 mins three days a week and try to walk the other four days. The walking doesn't always work out since we have our Grandson every morning. He's 2 years old and a pistol!!

Heaviest weight: 175.4 in early 2013.
Original MFP starting weight (January 2018): 168.2
    January 1, 2024 Weight: 150.0 (10-day average 146.8)
November 30 (Starting Weight for this challenge): 156.4 (10-day average 155.8)
December goal: Get back to lower end of maintenance weight range
Ultimate goal: Stay in maintenance range between (absolutely 140 - 153 and ideally 142-148)

I report scale weight and (ten day average weight), and I post on Saturdays.

    December 14: 158.6 (10-day average 157.7)

    January 4, 2025:

Total loss for December: Up a pound for the month but down almost a pound for the week. I'll take that as a partial success. I am 1.2 pounds heavier than the beginning of the year. I'll accept that as a failure for now, but I will keep sticking to it.

My name is Donna. I am 64 years old and I live in the Midwest of the US. I am 5’ 5” tall. My highest weight was 253 in 2016. My MFP start weight was 235 in 2018.

Ultimate Goal Weight: 145-155 (I’ll know it when I get there!)

    Start Weight (from Nov 30th ): 193.0

Goal Weight: 189.0 (4 pound loss)

End of Challenge Final Weight: xxxxx

    Weight lost/gained this month: xxxxx

Weight in blue makes me blue because it’s a gain. Weight in fuchsia pink makes me feel cheery because it’s a loss. Weight in black means no change.

    12/01-194.2-(Trend Weight: 192.0)-

    12/08-192.2-(Trend Weight: 192.8)-

12/15-191.4-(Trend Weight: 193.1)- I took the long way getting to this nearly 1 lb drop this week. I don’t know why I always make it so hard on myself but here I am, a little bit lighter than last week and even lighter than the week before so I’ll take it and run, figuratively speaking of course.

12/22-193.0-(Trend Weight: 192.2)- This higher weight is due to my DGS’ birthday party yesterday which was filled with pizza, cheese bread, cake, ice cream and other such goodies. It was an overnight gain from 190.6. As you can tell by my trend weight, I’ve been doing okay considering we are leaning into the holiday and have lots of activities going on. Certainly there has been more restaurant food during all the shopping in the city etc. I am going to make today a banner day to shed some of the overnight sodium gain and get back on track. My family Feast is next Saturday so the weigh-in next week (the day after) will not be good. However, I’m hoping that by the last day of the year and challenge I will see the true end-of-year results. I started last year on January 1st weighing 183.8. Wow, 2024 has proven to be a back-sliding year for me. If I could hit back down into the 180’s in any capacity I would be so relieved. It would be nice to start 2025 behind my goal, yes, but on pretty good footing for a great January. Even when you give IN Donna, Never give UP! I started December at exactly the same weight I am today. I'm confident I can end with a loss for the month, even if the year ends with a wimper instead of a bang.

    12/29-xxxxx-(Trend Weight: xxxxx)-

Total loss for December: Up a pound and a half for the month. At least I'm still down a half from two weeks ago. I am 1.6 pounds heavier than the beginning of the year. It sure looks like this year will be mildly unsuccessful even though I had a few really good months. I will keep sticking to it.

While I didn’t hit my overall December goal, I’m grateful that I joined this group and at least maintained my starting weight instead of gaining during the holiday season.

Thanks for the motivation and accountability. See you all next month!

Yes, you read that right…..only 50 more years to go based on how I’ve been doing. I turn 65 in May.

Now, to contend with all the leftover cookies, pies and fudge. Yes, everyone took some home. I will have to put my thinking cap on to figure this one out.

Yes, you read that right…..only 50 more years to go based on how I’ve been doing. I turn 65 in May.
    • The first statement is an objective fact; you have been logging your weight for 3.7 years.
    • The second statement is a confirmation of your goal; you are 46 pounds from goal.
    • The third statement is probably not worth paying attention to unless you know how far back it looks to determine your current loss rate. I wouldn't pay it much mind, but sure does seem demotivating.
    • The last statement is based on the third so might also suffer from recent rather than long-term
    • trends. If you've been up and down a lot lately, that might mess with these calculations.
    • Just for grins, let's imagine that you aren't gaining or losing weight and are at maintenance. If that were the case and you reduced 500 calories per day, you would expect to lose a pound a week. That would result in losing MORE than 46 pounds in less than 12 months, not 50 years.
    • Trouble is, if you're on a little short term gain, that could affect the statements.
    • To lose one pound a year (46 pounds in 50 years), you'd only have to be in a daily deficit of ten calories. That's too few to measure reliably.

You know that the right answer is STICK TO IT. So keep after it. If I don't hear from @enlightenme3 in the next few hours, I'll go ahead and post a new challenge for January 2025. See you there!

12/31-192.6-(Trend Weight: 192.9)- After a one day buffer following our weekend Christmas dinner and party, I landed at a 1.8 lb loss over yesterday. So this is where I start 2025, like it or not. I was definitely lower at the start of 2024. On my first mini 5 lbs goal I’m at T-Minus 0.8 lbs with 4.2 lbs left to go. I’m feeling pretty committed right now but it’s always easier to be when you are not hungry. I’m pawning off more of my baked goodies and candies today. My construction workers will take some home! It’s necessary! Happy New Year everyone. Thanks for another great round full of great pics, ideas, advice and kindness. See you all in 2025!

I also had some challenges this year. My ten-day average weight today is up a full 1.5 pounds from my ten-day average on 31 December 2023.

December goal: Get back to lower end of maintenance weight range
Ultimate goal: Stay in maintenance range between (absolutely 140 - 153 and ideally 142-148)

I report scale weight and (ten day average weight), and I post on Saturdays.

Total loss for December: Up about a pound and a half for the month. I ended the year up 1.5 pounds from 31 December 2023. I had a few good months, but overall am disappointed that I didn't keep after it with the consistency I've become used to over the last several years. I will keep sticking to it. See you on the January challenge!
