A quick note of encouragement for maintainers

I haven't posted in years, but wanted to drop in and give some encouragement to those in maintenance, especially those who've newly arrived. A lot of the focus on the boards goes - understandably - to losing weight, and the lifelong task of maintenance can get some short-shrift. Some of this, though, may be because people like me have taken the advice here to heart, incorporated it in our lives, and are here very infrequently because we've been successful. I've managed to stay at my goal for six years now despite occasional fluctuations, and though I have to be mindful on a daily basis, am mostly on auto-pilot now.
You can do this! While there will always be obstacles, you have the knowledge to deal with them. There will be times when setbacks will make you want to give in further, or when it's frustrating to have to tighten up more than you really want to. At those times, just go back to first principles and keep your focus. I find it helpful not to focus on "I want to be this particular weight because it seems like a good number", but rather "I feel good and am physically healthy at that weight."
Good luck! You can do this!

Nicely said. I have been maintaining a good weight for me for some time now.
I am finding it to be fairly easy as long as I follow my master plan.3 -
Thanks for the encouragement I have also been maintaining my weight2

Great post! I'm slowly moving toward maintenance mode (could probably lose a few more pounds, but I'm very happy at this level of health) and hope to get where you are.0

I also just started logging again. I logged for for 8 years meticulously, beginning in 2012. I lost 38 pounds at my lowest. I am now more than that but well within a healthy BMI.
I maintained quite easily because I learned a lot about what foods were important to avoid and to enjoy eating the foods I loved. I also learned that daily exercise it critical for maintenance as is keeping protein high and carbs below 40%. And I’m now 66!
My only regret is that my first ever concerted weight loss started with MFP in 2012.
Why log again? I had drifted up 5 pounds and wanted to drift down. And logging came back naturally. It’s something I actually enjoy.5
