@SurferGirl1982 Not everyone thrives in every environment. I would also be restless in circumstances such as yours. Perhaps make a plan, a list of small steps that you can do to work towards your goal of moving. Maybe start getting rid of stuff you don't need anymore. Declutter. If you own your property, start preparing it to go on the market. Don't overwhelm yourself, just do it one thing at a time. This would help fill your days with something other than drinking and give you a purpose. I myself always have lots of excuses of why I can't do this or that, but I am working hard on that this year. It isn't always easy but I am attempting it anyway.

Absolutely this! I’d add finding someplace to volunteer, like the hospital or a nursing home. Or a little part time job-something to fill your days.

@NonnieDoiron Good luck on getting that new job...it sounds like you have it in the bag!

I don't have any children. If I did they would be grown and long gone. We don't have any family or close friends here. We do have acquaintance type of friends.

You would love living where I live. It's a rural area surrounded by farm land. There's more cows, sheep, goats, and chickens than people. I was more into the rural thing when I was younger. But, now I would like to be closer to shopping, restaurants, recreation, doctors offices, our veterinarian, and the library. Many years ago, the people in our town voted not to remain in the county library system. I guess their property taxes would increase by $2. So, we don't even have a functioning library. @globalhiker is always signing up for fitness classes and such. We don't have those things available here.

@SunnyDays930 Thanks. We have actually been decluttering recently. My husband is more of a packrat than me but he seems to be coming around. He starting getting rid of a lot of his things lately without any prodding from me. He said that he had so many things that he hasn't used in years and wanted to get rid of them. I guess I've been rubbing off on him. Some things we've sold on Craigslist and a lot just goes to St Vinnies. It's true if you haven't used something in years, why hold on to it (unless it's sentimental).

As far as prepping the house for selling it, there's not a whole lot to do. We need new flooring. But, other than that, everything is pretty good. Our front and backyard are both really nice. Although, I have a couple of landscaping projects that I want to do. They're not necessary. I just want things to be nice for us. Who knows if or when we'll move.

It used to be easy to move when I was younger. I had a bed, dresser, some stereo equipment, in later years, a computer, a few pots and pans, and your clothes. But, over the years, things accumulate.

@chicbuc I have a whole bunch of stories. I'll try to sneak one or two in from time to time. But, I'm trying to stay on topic. I bet @Womona is still dying to hear the story of the Mexican jail *LOL* I'll tell that one someday too.

This thread is very active this month...I'll try to catch up later.

You're doing very well @MissMay! You have a great streak going on 🙂

I love to walk and hike but this year it has been raining nonstop (I imagine because of La Nina). We're supposed to have quite of few days without rain in the next week or so. So, maybe I can get out a bit.

@Womona I would love to volunteer at the hospital. I actually wanted to get a job there. But it is about 13 miles from here and I currently don't drive except for very locally. I haven't driven myself there in about 11 years. Partially due to anxiety and now I'm having vision problems in my right eye. I'm not sure if it will ever get better. A while back I was thinking about getting a part-time job. But, I'm currently blind in one eye and can't see out of the other 😕

@Womona I do know that you know how I feel. I do feel hemmed in. At least in town, I would be able to get around on my own. And, if not, there's Uber, Grubhub, DoorDash, and the cab company. Plus, there's bus service (somewhat limited hours though). You'd be surprised, but the cab company seems to be just as reasonable as an Uber (although I've never taken one). The last time that I took a cab in town the driver had a tablet. And just entered where we were going. Before we even left, he held the tablet up to me and said it will be $14 and some odd cents when we get back here. We don't have Uber, Grubhub, or Doordash in my town. I've downloaded their apps. The last one that I tried was DoorDash and it said that I was too far away. The cab company will come here, but since they're not stationed here, there would probably be a wait.

I got a chuckle when you said, "Oh and yes, still want to hear the Mexican Jail story!!!" I will tell it soon. The only reason I've been holding off was because the Mexican police (Federales) weren't picking on me. But, I had misbehaved ☹️ In my defense, I was only 19 at the time and need I say more? I'll tell you the story soon. I could tell you the story on your boat in the summer, but only if, I could man the sails! HaHa!

I GOT THE JOB!!! But… there’s been a delay with it, and I may not start it until April. Always seems to be something. 🙄

Anyway, I’m going to count today as a an A day and have a celebratory glass of wine after I pick up my son from work.

    AF - 6
    A - 1
Great news, I'm happy for you!!
