EA SPORTS ACTIVE 2 - does it get better?

I've recently bought this game for the Wii and I've just set up the 9 week program on Easy.

I found that there was a lot of stop/ start between the exercises and there was some difficulty in recognising my movements. I did get used to it and manage to get it right eventually.

This meant that a short workout turned into a long one, i.e. not the 20 minutes specified, more like 40 minutes.

I do have another Wii game, My Fitness Coach - Get in Shape and I love that, but I bought the EA SPORTS ACTIVE 2 to have a bit of variety in my workouts.

Is it worth continuing, does it get better?

Thanks.

:( I've just ordered this yesterday as it's on special offer at the minute on the HMV site. Not good to hear this

Could it be something as simple as needing new batteries in your controllers, maybe?

Make sure your batteries are okay, thats where I have had problems. Also, sounds stupid, but on the floor core exercises make sure you are doing the side you are meant to - I have a block on left/right sometimes and it took me 3 minutes once of shouting at the tv to realise I was on the wrong side:blushing:

I have found it good, and lots of variety, once you know how to do the exercises, I just start as the new ones are loading, so I am still moving, as sometimes I feel the break in between exercises are too long for me.

Thanks everyone, I think the batteries are ok as they were just new out of the packet it came with but I'll pop into town later and get some more to try.

Mrs Boyle - yes that was the exercise I got annoyed with too! I was shouting at the screen too.

I'll continue and see how it goes. Perhaps do a mix of my fitness coach and ea.

Ive got this game had it for about 3 weeks now, i had difficulty setting up the heart rate monitor that straps on your arm to begin with, i found out in the end that you have to place it on clear skin, and ive got scars all up my forearms, soo i have to move it up quite high right by my elbow for it to work! Other than that ive had no problems :) the excercises are fun and will get you sweating!! (be sure to have plenty of water with u) :) let me just say - becareful whilst doing the moutain boarding excercise! I pulled a muscle in the bottom of my back because of that excercise! And i was unable to excercise for 2 weeks! But it is a good workout, just dont push yourself too hard :)

I've got the first one thinking I can do some from sitting and I can mainly games but some of the exercises I've had problems with bicep curl.. it doesn't recognise you done it and had to repeat same move about 10 times... it must be a problem with this game.. I won't be getting the second one.

Exerbeat is very lively.. with dancing, karate, boxercising, pilates i got it for 9.99 off amazon marketplace and thats been alot better for me.. you need two wii remotes and mainly only need to follow onscreen arrows and do the arm movements, but you can do all the jumping around too to burn off more if you are able.

The Biggest Loser I have got before but couldn't adapt they are very physical lots of jumping up and down if your into that kind of thing, you get a weekly weigh-in and game won't go on until you have weighed (daily challenges.. you can still practice) .. few games inbetween.. but I found it too difficult for me personally.

Wii Fit is my favourite though.. but it may be too easy for very active people.

I got it for Xmas and performed the 9 week challenge for 5 weeks. I had to stop as I sprained my ankle doing all the side lunges. Problem was doing it in bare feet rather than using trainers. As I was incorporating the wii fit board I needed bare feet for those exercises. Any way you live and learn. I had a few proble ms With the sensors first problem was having them on the wrong leg plus another problem was putting it on upside down. The batteries did run out after a few weeks and that didn't help either. The exercise programs were good and I liked the fact they got you to warm up and cool down properly.

I did have this game for the PS3, and I really enjoyed it. I started of on the 9 week program set to hard, and found it a good workout. I never had problems with it reading my movments unless the battieres were dying in the sensors. I also had a bunch of custom workouts that was alot of fun. I eventually sold the game because I despise working out at home. But all in all i thought it was a good work out. My only suggestion would be to get hand weights and use thoses insted of the resistance band

Thanks all of you! I'll carry on with it I think.

To those who are worried about ordering it, don't be - it's not that bad - just that I'm so used to just following the aerobic work out on My Fitness Coach with no interuptions. This seems different - more real life simulation, sort of fun game type activity included. I got mine from HMV too for £6.99, definitely worth the price for what you get.

Thanks - I like the tip about the hand weights instead of the band.

Well I did day 2 of the 9 week program today and I have to say that it did get better.

I'm still a bit frustrated that a 20 something minute workout was close to 40 minute but I'll try and stick with it.

The exercises ran more smoothly as I had some experience of doing them yesterday.

    Thanks.
