If you're looking to get strong, try any 5x5 strength training program like stronglifts or startingstrength. My wife and I are both doing stronglifts 5x5.

I have fibro. I was diagnosed about 10 years ago.

Honestly, the best thing for me to help manage it was diet and exercise. I was on meds for a long (too long) time and they seemed to get in the way of my life. I had to push myself through the pain and eventually the pain went away. I don't get the flare ups like I used to. And, they don't last as long as they did before. In fact, I had one a couple weeks ago that lasted a week. I cried everyday, BUT I made myself workout everyday.

If you have any questions about fibro, feel free to ask.

you need to start off slow, and work your fitness up.

also, the most important thing is to try and find something you enjoy, walking, swimming, whatever it is!

    good luck!
  • I have found that the best way to lose weight is to build muscle along with adding some cardio into the mix. I personally love ChaLEAN Extreme, which is a program that includes both weight training and cardio workouts so you get really good results. I have done it and really like it for a few reasons. First, none of the workouts are more than 45 minutes long and the moves include both upper and lower body strength so you are working your whole body the whole time. Second, the instructor is unbelievably motivational, if you feel like you can't go any further she says something that keeps you going. Finally, she shows modified ways to do everything, so when you are having a bad day, you do the modified version and you are still burning calories.

It's just my personal favorite, and since using it, I've started following the instructor on Twitter and Facebook because she's just an all around motivational/positive person. I also purchased her Turbo Fire workouts, which I also LOVE! If you are interested in learning more, I'd love to talk to you about it. Just let me know
