    Backstory
In 2022 I was around 157lbs with 24% bf. Was definitely in the “best shape” of my adult life then. Since then I started a new career working from home as a developer. Have moved away from my family for fiancés job. We’ve moved several times to various states in a short time span. So far we’ve moved 3 times, all about 9 months apart. Welcomed two puppies into the mix. Lots of changes. Lots of time spent at home. Lots of time spent away from family. Fell out of touch with friends. All of the adjustments and figuring out how to manage/handle more daily responsibilities and navigate through this phase of life has manifested into me gaining 20+lbs and losing a lot of willpower, motivation, drive, positivity, etc that I once thrived on. Found this challenge and it has been helping me get it back. Nothing is permanent! Looking forward to working through this.

    Overall Goals and Challenges
    Goals
    1. Focusing on behavior and mindset. Calories have been going way over for so long I need to reel the behavior back in a healthy way.
    2. Don’t give up on the day when it’s challenging. Choose to make good decisions in those moments instead of giving in.
    Challenges
    1. Working from home makes it easy to stress eat or just eat out of boredom/habit.
    2. Sleeping less (have two puppies, a 8mo and a 1yr old) makes it hard to wake up early enough to get a good workout in or at least to feel good awaking up. Feel defeated in the motivation and drive department compared to how I was previously.

    Daily, Small, Attainable Goals
    1. Finish 1st 27oz water before 2pm
    2. Finish 2nd 27oz water before bed
    3. Alternate standing and sitting at desk every other hour during working hours (or stand at least half of the day).
    4. Hit maintenance calories at a minimum.
    5. -200 cal deficit on gym days
    6. If I go over cals, try to cap it at +200

    Past Challenge Stats

    1/18 - 178.8
    1/19 - 180.8
    1/20

    Gym: 30m shoulders/arms + 30m cardio

Wins: proactively combined today and tomorrow’s workout since I had to adjust per work schedule tomorrow.

Challenges: last night I logged my last snack and felt that I ended at a doable place. Was still a little hungry but not starving. Was at +130 cals so within my cap at +200 if going over goal. And then DH went to the gas station and called me on the way back to tell me he got me a surprise. Came back with Culver’s double bacon cheeseburger and cheese curds. I literally never eat fast food. He was exited and also told me how expensive it was to just get two people food from fast food… all in all I just didn’t feel like being the bad guy. I did not want that food. At all. It pained me to eat it. I said you were nice so I’m being nice and eating it but next time just ask me bc I would have said no. He already knows that I probably didn’t want it and risked just getting it which is why I didn’t want to give him a negative response. Thats not really fair to other people. It kind of extra crushed my week. Basically on track to gain 2lbs. Like I literally can’t keep going in that direction. But at the same time I also didn’t want to be mean and I’m trying not to be strict in areas like that bc if and when we have kids that is something I just have to learn to roll with. But also I should be able to say thanks I’ll eat it tomorrow.

01/18-193.6-(Trend Weight: 192.6)- Didn’t take my Lasix yesterday due to Christmas concert. I’m hoping that most of this is fluid but I’m suspicious because I know all the secrets. I had a definite binge last night. The cravings are horrendous and I can feel that much of this is also emotional eating due to the contractor problems. I have someone working again now but I can’t get over things that were said and done to me easily. It’s a loop in my brain. Eating badly fixes nothing. I’ve got to hold onto that thought today! I really don’t want to end this round badly and it could get worse, much worse!

01/19-193.8-(Trend Weight: 192.7)- Back up 0.2 lbs. This is the 4th day of no progress. No one’s fault but my own. Aiming for a MUCH better week this coming week. I have got to meal plan better to conquer my overwhelming hunger of late.

My DH used to “reward” my weight loss attempts with going for pizza and Baskin-Robbins. It only took about 30 years to break him of that. Yet last summer when I was getting some massive dental work done he “rewarded” me with a Hershey’s! I haven’t had one of those in YEARS but it has always been my favorite! I broke a small piece off and put the rest in the refrigerator drawer. It’s still there. Put that Culver’s in the frig.

@pezhed Amanda, I’m so glad you're feeling better. Level head you have! Oh, and by the way, I don’t think I ever commented on your beautiful family photo over the holidays… Precious!
Also thinking about your big run BHAG in February… I think it’ll be amazing to face it, do it, and finish it. Your “clocked” time is irrelevant. You will know if you gave your best effort! 🍀

    @MSWDiet
I can personally relate to every comment you shared with us. I started a health/weight loss journey in 2010 that became REAL in 2014. and for the past 10+ years it’s been an emotional / weight roller coaster. Last July I fully committed (JGMTD) to saying goodbye to the roller coaster, which means identifying unhealthy habits and replacing them one at a time with healthy habits. I’ve named my journey “Healthy, Strong, Fit”. (#HSF). I am deeply loving getting to know myself better but it often includes unwanted fits of complete frustration delicately balanced with times of inner confidence, peace and self-assurance. I’m learning that my “toolbox“ becomes less about “do this, dont do that” and more about who I am at my inner-most being. The deeper & longer my #HSF journey progresses the more challenging the journey becomes… Seriously, the crud that becomes exposed by true self-awareness, and the WHY behind the things that I do (when I truly know better…) Is THE journey. The mindset of self-awareness and the ability to identify & navigate with optimum choices is the key (for me). I’m choosing this life-long journey. So glad you are too!

1/18 – 136.2 did not track yesterday. Did not exercise yesterday. I intend to track today, and going to do my research to get myself to the gym. I joined a week ago, and have “tomorrowed” it all week. Just feeling intimidated by the idea of day 1 and feeling stupid.

Sheri, I’ve been (mainly) “tomorrowing” since the pandemic “ended.” WE made it back together several times but he likes early (7:30-ish) and I am NOT a morning person and prefer 1pm-ish. He used to play cards (different games different days) about 5 days a week but says “all” of the people have become jerks. Today is pinochle at 1 and he is planning to go.

@quiltingjaine It is so easy to behave this way. I know that once I get started, it will get easier. That is the way with any habit (or card game :P )

Thanks so much for your feedback.

I've learned to appreciate how feedback, agreeable or critical, adds value. Being in this space takes me out of my own head and into valuable shared experiences.

I'm fortunate today is when I have a minute to read a few posts. Had the app not crashed earlier I may have missed this. ☺️

That’s so hard. I’m sorry you felt pressured to eat the food he was so excited about; I probably would have done the same as a lifelong people-pleaser 😬 It sounds like you handled it well by communicating with him about next time he has such an impulse, so good job!
Thank you! To him it probably seems rediculous because it’s just food but to me it feels like…. Do you know how much I tried this week? and this burger is about to dismantle all of that.
Hopefully next time I can make better decisions and still be nice!

Haha! Thank you for making me laugh. 😂 I truly believe they mean well their brains are just wired differently. We’ve been together for 6 years and this was probably the first thing he learned because we ate so differently. I felt bad because he legitimately looked happy so he thought he was doing good. 😅 Now I know it will probably be the same for a long time! You are 100% right though. Should have just put it in the fridge. Idk why it caught me off guard. I wasn’t expected being gifted a cheeseburger right before bed lol. I’ll keep that plan in the back of my mind for the next surprise.

    Round 282 88.8 kg
    Round 283 87.8

I've given myself two personal challenges. One is to reach goal weight by the end of 2025. That means exactly 5 years to lose 32 kg. A tad too long. The second challenge is to lose weight every round. I'd be really proud of achieving that.

Day 1 - Sat 87.7 eating below maintenance, 5 kilometer timed fun run (parkrun)
Day 2 - Sun 88.1 eating below maintenance, 30 minute outdoor run
Day 3 - Mon 88.0 eating below maintenance, 30 minute outdoor run
Day 4 - Tue 87.2 eating above maintenance
Day 5 - Wed 87.1 eating around maintenance, 30 minute outdoor run
Day 6 - Thu 87.1 eating below maintenance
    Day 7 - Fri 86.5

Median so far this round: 87.2, which is less than last round, I need to cut back on my eating though. I've realised that I should rate my ability to reach goal weight by the end of the year. It's a number based on the last 4 readings and the date. Number goes up = good. Number goes down = bad. Starting with a chosen number of 100 for today.

As for eating, I'm going to aim for a specific energy value, if I ate below that number I'll call it Good, equal or above is Bad.

    Day 8 - Sat 86.6 parkrun 5 km run
    Day 9 - Sun 86.8
    Day 10 - Mon 87.2

Median 87.15 which is a loss from the previous round
My score for reaching goal weight by the end of the year is 98.5 which is less than ideal, it should be greater than 100.
