Light headeness

Has anyone had any problems with getting light headed when they stand? I've been on my diet for 6 months with no problems. It is a healthy diet of whole foods, low carb, lots of protein several small meals a day. I am type 2 diabetic, but don't have a meter to check that. Blood sugar has been in normal range for some time now last it was checked. I did have problems with low potassium a couple years ago, and it was making me light headed and short of breath. I've started taking a potassium pill, but it hasn't helped. I also suffer from hypertension and take 3 meds, but my blood pressure is actually perfectly normal now. I will see my doctor later this month, but just curious if anyone else had this dieting. I did Google already too.

For me, lightheadedness when getting up quickly is a sign of low blood pressure and that I need to eat more salt. Any chance your blood pressure has gotten on the lower side with weight loss?

I would recheck your blood pressure and make sure you don't need to change your meds. As Leichi said, lightedheadedness upon standing is generally from a drop in blood presssure.

Speed of loss? Plus the previous comments, i.e. review current status w/dr. Speed of loss and size of deficit esp if you've become more active potentially enter into this too...

I agree. Best to check with your Dr.
It's possible that both your blood pressure and/or blood sugar are down enough because of weight loss and healthy eating that your medication needs to be adjusted.
    Hurray! 🥳 🎉 🎊

Orthostatic hypotension can be caused by dehydration. I get it a lot in the summer when it's hot and humid and I am exercising hard.

Since you are on blood pressure pills, you may need to decrease or eliminate the pills. Talk to your doctor.

At first I thought, "she needs to up her calories" but then I read further. Then I thought, "ah....the blood pressure meds! Her blood pressures probably too low". Do you have a blood pressure cuff at home? Now your issues might be a combo of both too. But I think I'd start by checking your blood pressure and talking to your doc.

if you have type 2 diabetes you should still check your blood sugar even if you are managing it with food. It is still possible to have type 2 and have your blood sugar go too low which will make you dizzy. You should also check to see how your blood pressure medication works with other meds you are taking. I take blood pressure, muscle relaxers and hemp gummies. When i was taking blood pressure, muscle relaxers and tramadol i could talk all of that at night. When i switched to hemp gummies, the combination made me dizzy. So now I take my blood pressure medication in the morning and the muscle relaxer and hemp gummies at night.

I hope you figure it out.

If you are having these type of symptoms consistently, this is not the place to ask for advice. You need to seek for advice from a medical professional that can make sure all of your blood sugars and other stats are in line. It’s always great to get advice and feedback, but unless somebody in this forum is medically, trained, you need to seek advice in a more professional platform.
