Strava has monthly challenges for walking, running, swimming, cycling, and a lot of the challenges are sponsored by corporations which will give you discounts on items.
There are also MFP cycling and running groups on Strava. If you are interested, contact @quilteryoyo or @AlphaHowls (on MFP) about the running group, or if you join Strava (they have a FREE option), you can go to the running group directly: https://www.strava.com/clubs/mfpmnthlychlng1 -

I have been frozen in a weight plateau since January 14th, which is a little frustrating... I should have been down to 166 by Jan 25th ... but I have lost half an inch on my waist and an inch on my hips in that same time. I know weightloss isn't linear, but I wish it was! This is my first month challenge here on MFP!
Feb 1-168 - ran 8 miles
Feb 2 -169 - "rest day" (did a sailing race which was a work out!)
Feb 3 -168 - Ran 2 miles

Ugh. Up 1.8 lbs from stress eating over a crazy weekend at work. Had a disruptive employee scaring the team and undermining the work; the police got summoned, and tonight when he arrives at work I have to go through what will be a dramatic scene wherein I fire him. Hoping he goes quietly but that hasn’t been his style.
My plan is to get in a half hour on a treadmill to start my day (I’m a manager in the largest health club in southeast Texas and am fortunate to have my choice of any workout I choose) hoping that it boosts my energy and sets the tone for a better day of eating. I am disappointed that I let this disrupt my eating; I feel like I just handed this guy my power and caved. I’ll try to take a lesson from that and move forward.
Pink is set to return to the vet on Thursday to see what else we can do for her. She’s such a little fighter and eats like a champ. All of the other dogs are careful around her, she is just 6 pounds, and Leo, the French Bulldog has become her protector. We found him sitting with her with his paw on her during her last collapse. Leo is another rescue who was a breeder’s stud dog until it was discovered that he’s sterile and no use to his owner. He’s gorgeous and well behaved and apparently smitten by Pink
Best wishes to all for a good day on plan!6 -

So I’m eating leftovers this week.
No gravy ⛄️…behaving before the big football game party coming up.
Have a great day everyone

@dannytrees1 respect for the turkey plan. My sweetie roasts two chickens every week and it’s a huge help
@Latitude27N sounds scary but also like you’re prepared to handle it. Hope it all goes well. You’ll drop that 1.8, no way you ate 6000 extra calories even if you WERE stressed!
@MercyRoth welcome to your new name
@CorvusCorax77 my first month here as well. I so ‘hear’ you on non-linear weight loss but inches are pretty fabulous too!
I spent yesterday in the great outdoors of western Oklahoma where it was a balmy 80 degrees. In February. Yikes. Made generally decent food choices, turned down a restaurant dinner so I could stay on plan AND didn’t dive into the entire bag of Doritos my sweetie bought when I found myself ravenous and without available snacks. Actually counted the number of Doritos, logged them, and stayed within my calorie goal. 226.4 this morning, starting to get rid of the salt-and-travel weight.

@Latitude27N - I hope the firing of the employee goes smoothly. Doesn't sound fun at all.
I hope you get some positive news for Pink. Sounds like your doing all you can to keep her comfortable.
@ManifestingToday - nice drop but I hope the sandman visits both of us tonight..
@CorvusCorax77- I also wish it was linear.. those plateau's are rough but nice job on the measurements. All the work is paying off. Its easy to get fixated on the scale. I am so guilty of that. To me sometimes I get caught up in that and nothing else matters. I want to see that number I am after! But it does feel good to have pants that sag in the butt now. Lol. My hubby teases me all the time but I like that feeling .. Eventually I will buy new ones but I am not ready to yet.

I won't be working out tonight since I have an after work appt. Road are going to be dicey as we have been getting snow since yesterday. its bitter cold as well. These are hard days to stay motivated so I am forcing myself out of the house to help my mental health. My attitude has been in the tank lately.

@Latitude27N hugs for your furbabies and you for the job, hope that went well
Had the furnace guy come yesterday, air in the lines and low pressure. He was kind enough to show me what to do next time to prevent a service call.

From one day to the next I don’t know why the scale is doing what it’s doing. Yesterday was similar to any other day. I have no clue why it went up.
Meanwhile I had a thought about goals. Rather than aim for an ultimate goal weight, I might try and aim for an ultimate pant size. That way differences due to muscle building will not have a negative impact on goals. I might go out and buy a cheap series of jeans in decreasing sizes so I can track progress.

@MercyRoth good idea on the Jean sizes.
I have kinda done the same with my Wranglers.
All my old sizes have become just work jeans.
I thought my weight would be lower today… but it’s up a tad.
Keep it going, it will change ⛄️

Everything went sideways when I got to work yesterday and I never got to the workout. The one easy thing was the having to let the troubled employee go; that went smoothly at least. BUT now there’s another one who has stopped doing her tasks and spends the day hiding and I have to start the whole documentation process on her now. It has been SO difficult to find good staff.
Another rescue dog had to go to the emergency vet last night. Leo the French Bulldog was having scary symptoms around his breathing and my husband had to take him in. We had no idea what we were seeing but apparently poorly bred Frenchies can spiral into frantic breathing that self-perpetuates and looks like poisoning or pneumonia. Now he’s on meds to calm him and take down the swelling in his throat. Yikes. SO relieved he hadn’t swallowed something that required a surgery at least.
I ate poorly but logged everything, going 150 calories over budget. Not too bad given the stress of the day I guess.
Today is my harp lesson—looking forward to that!
All the best to everyone here. Onward!

@ManifestingToday you are so right, I’ve been maintaining since Jan. 1st! Even with increased exercise at home and at the gym.
I started weighing my protein and starches this week so it’s possible I have been overeating even nutritious foods.
I’m going out to lunch with friends today then have a birthday dinner tomorrow night. I will look at the menus to help me make decent choices beforehand!

Meal swapping (ex., eating breakfast for dinner and dinner for breakfast) also seems to help, sometimes.4 -

Well. I’ve been waiting to get into the 150’s for years! Finally saw that number! 😄
I recently found out I am not 5’ 1” but am actually only 5’ 0”. I thought I needed to get to 158 till I was just overweight according to bmi. Turns out I need to get to 153. I know it’s just the bmi and I should take it with a grain of salt so oh well. Doesn’t really make a difference to me. I still have the same goal of 140 which would still put me in the overweight category but I think it’s still a good weight to strive for. My doctor thinks 140 is a good goal too. When I get there I can always re evaluate.
