Hi all, i had knee surgery last friday. sorta rested for two days, then returned to work (im a substitute teacher who is currently teaching music class, while they look for a new teacher). anywho.. it was a long week, but i made it through with a knee that wouldnt bend and the size of a large grapefruit.. most likely was not supposed to be working.. but you got to do what you got to do. i gained 7 pounds the day of the surgery.. not sure how considering i threw up all day long.. guessing fluids.. but it is NOT coming back off and i feel like every day that i don't exercise, all the fat is returning.. im getting myself into a real funk.. i know i can't or rather shouldn't do much with my knee untill it heals. but im so frustrated.. this of course is making me overeat. out of frustration.. and of course then i feel even worse... .. the school is climbing a mountain next thursday and im really tempted to climb with them.. although i know i most likely shouldn't. i just feel like i need to push myself.. or i will be fat all over again...
really could use some encouragement..

ICE ICE ICE!!!!!
I've had 4 knee surgeries, the last one to have it replaced. Those 7 pounds are on your knee and not on your hips. I also screwed the replacement up by overdoing it. Not the joint itself, but the muscles and tendons around it. Put that baby up high enough that it is above the level of your heart (mound a boat-load of pillows under it) take ibuprofen or whatever they gave you for pain, and ice, ice, ice. You aren't doing yourself any favors unless you want more surgeries! Besides with your knee high in the air, its really hard to get to the fridge for snacks.
Good luck and take care of yourself... k?0 -
Focus on your nutrition and let yourself fully heal. Your body was just sliced open so it may be reacting to that, but it'll come back to where it should be.
Remember, it's calories in/calories out. If you're eating great, even without exercise, you can maintain your weight.0 -
Don't get discouraged! I just had hip surgery in April and had gained 30lbs. If you need support, add me. I'll try and give you some tips0

I had hip surgery 5 weeks ago. The first three weeks I couldn't work out at all, I just stuck to my calorie limit. I resisted weighting myself, knowing that I'd get back to working out as soon as I could, and that all I can do is just stick to the program and not go over my calorie limit. I sure did miss those exercise calories! When I finally did weigh myself, I hadn't gained anything, probably because I gave my body time to heal a bit. So just stick with it, you'll be fine!0
