@NonnieDoiron i can only imagine. Does (loudish) music in the background help? Hugs. Welp, if you’re ever looking to lose weight, forget Ozempic to curb your appetite. You can just sit next to your MIL and get the same result! Can you rent her out? Maybe get some extra income as a magic weight loss guru? Haha!

OMG!! LMAO!! We have tried the loud music, but then it had to be way too loud to drown her out. It’s awful! The past few nights we’ve been able to avoid having family meals. But, tonight I made dinner for my daughter’s 15th birthday, and I switched seats with my husband. It was A LITTLE better, but I could still hear her.

I think I’m also just done with having her in my house. Not only is she disgustingly loud when eating, but she’s rude as F**K!! It’s been a real battle this week for me not to just go off on her. Today, I went and sorted my clothes in my closet just so I would cuss her out.😡

Yeah it’s a grind for sure. I know she is with you for the duration, but even so, I can see how it gets super irritating. Was she always rude? I think the filter just comes off the older we get. She is certainly not at her best now! But I really feel for you. Deep breaths. I love how you and your husband can vent to each other!

@Womona MIL has always been a little rude, but we didn’t have to deal with it unless she was visiting. Now, that she lives here, I think it’s just come to the surface as to how rude she really can be.

I grew up in a home where the man of the house made his plate first at the dinner table. You didn’t serve yourself until Dad had his plate made. Still the same way at my parents home. I’ve been trying to do that here, but I will go to dish out the food and she picks up her plate and shoves it under the serving utensil I’m holding EVEN WHEN I’M HOLDING ANOTHER PLATE TO FILL!! 😳

Whenever I’m cooking, she makes her way into the kitchen. She has a walker and is not a petite woman, so she takes up a lot of space. She will get in my way and meander around the kitchen. She’ll start doing dishes and wiping down counters. I have to tell her I need her out of my kitchen before she will leave, and then she acts like it’s a surprise that she’s in the way.

She constantly cuts me off when I’m speaking. It’s happened so many times I can’t count. We will be at the table, I’m talking about something that happened that day or read. She will interrupt me to get on my daughter’s case about chewing with her mouth open or something stupid like that. Not that my daughter should chew with her mouth open, but she can wait until I’m done talking. And she makes a big production about it every time. I now just stop talking and stare at her, but I don’t resume talking when she’s done unless I’m asked to by someone. I’ve been hoping she’d get the passive aggressive hint, but I have a feeling I’m going to have to get aggressive about it.

Anyway, thanks for the ranting space.

Thursday we go on vacation. I’m sure it will be 2-3 drinks a day, doubtful I will be AF. But I want to pace myself and drink lots of water in between.

A completely AF vacation is my Everest. I really enjoy cocktails when you don't have to get up the next morning! But, of course, you pay for it a bit.

So true! It’s harder to avoid the day drinking- a cocktail at lunch? Don’t mind if I do! But yes we pay on the back end.

@MissMay we are going to the Cayman Islands. Can’t wait!

@NonnieDoiron oh my God, what a pain in the *kitten*! I wonder if she would do that if you served family style? As for getting in the way in the kitchen, no situational awareness! Geez. I dunno, you may have to be more direct - “I wasn’t done speaking yet.” Either way I’m already exhausted for you!

Thank you @MissMay - I love your quote about self empowerment and our ability to choose a new direction.

@globalhiker your trip to Spain this year sounds so wonderful - I can also attest that visiting family can be both fun and challenging. You can hold your head high knowing how far you’ve come in your inner most personal life. No one can take that away from you!

    February
    AF - 15
    A - 4

    Current streak AF - 0
    Longest streak AF - 37

    Exercise:
    Classes - 10 of 16
    Meters rowed - 70,197 of 100,000

Drank a bottle of wine with wife last night along with some good cheese and crackers - a 'splurge' night to celebrate staying on course with MFP and exercise plus it just felt good to sip wine with bitter cold outside!

Hope everyone is doing well today.

Your Feb accountability looks great. So your rowing tally, is that inside rowing or outside? Which ever it is impressive.

@tobinross your LA stats are looking great not to mention your exercise goals!

@Born2Run1958 your Feb. stats are outstanding - you should be very proud of yourself!

@margim5 - I am seeing a great AF plan you have set up for yourself!
