Right now, I have the flu.
It is quite hard to even get out of bed but I am for work as I need the money for bills and then resting the rest of the day.
What should I do with my weight loss?
Should I just not exercise and count calories still?
Or just listen to my body and eat until I am full? (I don't have quite a appetite)
Other than soups etc what is recommended, it is hard to keep food down?

Being sick is hard, especially stomach stuff. I think it's most important to listen to your body...don't stuff food down, but don't keep yourself from eating. Stick with soups and crackers and ginger ales- stuff that feels right on your stomach. You'll be fine to pick up wherever you are once your body is healthy again!

When you are sick... you do what you need to do! Your body will tell you when it needs to rest, and when it is hungry. As long as it doesn't go on for more than a week or so, I wouldn't worry too much about staying "on track" with diet and exercise. your body is going to be fighting the illness anyway and you'll be exhausted just going to work.

    But that's just my opinion!

Listen to your body, forgot the weight loss until you recovered. Crackers and gingerale is my fave when sick. And soup of course. Feel Better!
  • Take it easy, mind yourself and get well very soon.

If it's the flu you shouldn't excersice cuz you can easily dehydrate. You should also eat when hungry (listen to body) .ost likely if you're only eating soups, crackers, etc you're staying under cals. Get yourself better then slowly get back to where you were before you got sick.
  • I am on the tail end of the flu, too, right now. More sinuses, cold, fever than stomach. I have still been logging food, but have not worked out since Thursday, although I too have been working (I work at a busy restaurant, so I definitely don't sit idle therefore am not too concerned about not working out over the weekend). Lots of fluids, and I think whatever you can manage to eat that is yummy and nutritious is great. While I don't think you should throw discipline out the window, I also don't think you have to be ultra strict when you are feeling poorly as sometimes it's just something to get food down ..I even had a little frozen yogurt last night after dinner! :)

I don't recommend exercising if you have the flu. Listen to your body and eat what you can keep down.
  • I was in the same boat about 1 week ago. Drink a lot of water and just focus on eating really well.

When I'm sick, and because of my health problems I'm sick a lot, I drink lots of water. I don't exercise unless I start feeling better, and I record my calories still, but I don't really count them...I just like keeping up with them even on days I know I'll be a bit off.
