It's Going Slow/ What to Change?

Hello Everyone
I was hoping to see a weight loss of a pound (or maybe even a pound a half) a week. Unfortunately, though, it's been slow moving at about a half pound per week. I'd like to step it up a bit and am looking for advice on how to do that. I am allowed 1200 calories a day, and I as my base, and I earn more through exercise. I generally dip into my exercise calories a little bit, but most days I end with a little bit leftover. I workout 30-60 minutes nearly every day.
Looking for advice:
* Should I lower my "normal" intake to 1100 or 1150, instead of 1200? /OR/
* Should I avoid using the calories I "earn" through exercise and stick to 1200 every day? /OR/
* Should I try something different altogether?
I have lost a total of 12 pounds this year (most before joining myfitnesspal), and my goal it to shed another 8, for a total of 20. Ideally, I'd like to do this in 8 weeks by losing a pound a week.
Thoughts?
Thank You!!

I've been sticking to the 1200 calories a day and not eating the exercise calories and have lost 7 pounds in 2 weeks.0

The closer you get to your goal, the slower your weight loss is going to be. That's just kinda how it works. It's not healthy for your body to drop weight as fast as it used to.0

Losing weight and being healthy is a marathon and not a sprint. Its not about how fast you get out of the blocks but how consistent you are over the long haul. Its about making some minor changes in your exercise program maybe changing your intensity ad incorporate different types of exercises, also rest does a body good helps with the intensity overtime. Be patient, make some small changes and you should continue to see results0

Make sure you are changing up your workouts and not doing the same thing every day. Try a new class or get ideas for new DVDs or something. Also, take a look at your carbs/sugars/sodium levels and see if there is anything you need to change there.
Keep up your water intake and eat lean protein, fruits, and veggies! If you dip below 1200, you will start storing fat so I wouldn't recommend that.

Thanks for posting this topic because I am having this problem too. Based on a Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) assessment that I had done by a medical professional, I should be eating between 1000-1200 calories a day for weight loss and I pretty much stick to that range every day. I exercise 20 minutes a day and I usually don't eat my exercise calories. The weight is coming off so slowly and it is very discouraging.0

Up your exercise and up your calories a little bit, maybe eat 1/4 of your exercise calories. Also look for High Calorie burn workouts.
Drink lots of water
Are you strength training? If not, do it.
Eat a big breakfast to kick-start your metabolism so you burn more all day.0 -
The closer you get to your "goal weight" or the less weight you have to lose, the longer it usually takes. The body is trying to hold on to every last bit. What I would do is actually increase your calorie intake for a couple weeks. say 200 more calories a day or so.. and see if that cud off-set your body enough to lose those last few pounds.. worth a shot! I've heard of numberous people experiencing plateaus and doing this method with enormour success. Good luck to you!0

You have too little weight to lose to expect to lose more than you are already losing! Only the obese can expect to lose 2 pounds per week. You should be VERY happy at .5 per week! You're doing great!0

Stay away from carbs and sugar. That always speeds me up!0
