Spiraling out of control!

I joined MFP about 1 1/2 years ago but only recently started taking it really seriously. I only have to lose about 10 pounds, but this is proving to be the hardest thing of my life!
I have been exercising 5 days a week and really watching what I eat. Most days I stay under my calorie goal. But I am slowly GAINING weight. I am inching up on the scale every day and the only times I have lost anything is when I legitimately starve myself.
I have a problem with hypoglycemia so I have to make sure I am eating a good balanced meal with enough protein and fiber and no empty carbs. It would be so easy if I could just restrict calories and not worry about balancing things. I feel like I am going to get nowhere!
Anyone else having these same struggles? Or does anyone have a daily dietary guide I can follow? I have already thought about seeing a nutritionist, maybe that is my best bet at this point.
