You would need to tell us your gender, age, weight and activity without exercise for us to verify the numbers. But if this is what mfp gave you when you entered your information then they are good numbers for you to start with.

    I’m a female, 28 years old, I’m 225lbs, 5’5 and I don’t exercise at all. I am looking into getting a membership at a gym though.

that looks ok. If you’re eating quite a bit more than that right now you may want to go down to 1500 cal over the course of a few weeks because dropping calories too fast can make things hard to stick to

    Welcome!

First thing I try to tell people that are new here is to really just focus on the intake portion of the equation (so your calories in). Macros do NOT equal weight loss. Some folks report that it can help them avoid being hungry if they eat more protein, etc, but will not help you lose any faster per se. Same with exercise. You can create an additional calorie burn in some cases but be very wary of eating all of the calories the app or your fitness tracker say you have burned, they are notoriously over-inflated figures and you can end up eating back way more than you burn. One way to look at it is: watch your calories to lose weight and exercise for the health benefits. You can lose weight just fine without exercising.

The best advise I can give to a new person it to weigh and measure EVERYTHING YOU EAT. Do not estimate, guestimate, use some existing entry in MFP to record a food, etc. Do not put it in your mouth if you have not weighed it out. This is where 90% of users here get tripped up. It takes a work in the beginning but after a while you start eating the same foods/recipes over and over and it gets a lot easier.

Don't overthink it, don't make it more complicated than it needs to be, just watch what you eat and the process will work!

    Good luck!
