Is the forum totally messed up?

Seriously, every time I come here I'm logged out and can't log in. Only F5 auto logs me in again. I deleted all cookies and stuff, and it doesn't help.

And everytime I get to the forum overview I see masses of latest reactions marked May 2024, or no date at all while there are newer reactions. Sometimes, sometimes not.

Lets not forget that one someone marks an answer as That Answer I don't go to the latest answer in a thread anymore but all the way to the start.

And now the powers that be have updated the forum again, and now whenever I bring up a wee add-on with control+shift+. I get not my add-on but a new forum feature that I don't want. Why not fix all the errors first before adding more stuff? /rant

    I've noticed all the 2024 posts too. Not sure why, but it is irritating.

    Aww, thanks! I felt it would be useless to do. Maybe there's a solution in a few years. Or not 😁

    I’m an iPhone app user… have had these problems and many more ++ for a ridiculously long time.

    Have emailed support for a few items & they said were just not being fixed in the near future, such as some users getting non stop cookies pop ups.

    I used to add to the “suggest new features” thread now and again… but even popular items have never been added so….#pointless.

    🤷‍♀️ Sometimes I feel they have given up on the forums.

    Yeah, I mentioned the May 2024 thing 3 or 4 days ago. Quoting is impossible it seems.

    There are quite a few bugs in the Community software, some of which preceded the RTE (Rich Text Editor) update, and some of which came in along with it. There are a couple of relevant threads where it would probably be more effective to report newly seen bugs, or read to understand the status of already reported ones.

    I know some of you know this, but in case others do not: The Community part of MFP is not mostly software supported by MFP staff. Under the covers, it's a product called Vanilla Forums, and the software support for it is done by Vanilla's staff. Some MFP staff are assigned to support the Community generally, and are communicating with Vanilla staff to get the bugs resolved. They - the MFP staff - don't have direct control over the situation.

    Effectively, we are users of the MFP Community, and the staff who support MFP Community usage are users of the Vanilla Forums software, and customers of the Vanilla Forums company.

    I'm not suggesting anyone needs to give MFP a pass about these problems, just that understanding the scenario might help us understand or influence the situation more intelligently.

    @AnnPT77 - sensitively put.

    I personally responded to the thread as someone who is also eternally let down by the non stop bugs and who agrees with the OP that the forums are a hot mess.

    That being said, no amount of reporting it to support or going through the correct channels fixes things.

    i have very low expectations in regards to MFP app and even lower expectations for vanilla forums. (Staff is different, not their fault, they are quite nice.)

    i continue because there are people I enjoy speaking to here… but as an app people pay to use.. I’m surprised there is no accountability or oversight to how poorly maintained the tech or experience is.

    I’ve just come to expect vanilla to be a mess and MFP leadership to not try to fix it, or make any outstanding enhancements. For whatever elusive reason..

    It’s kinda like going to a dive bar, the beer sucks, the atmosphere is outdated, the owner doesn’t fix anything but hey we like seeing our friends here and there so we show up and know we will need an aspirin on the way home.

    Ok, something has happened! At least the incorrect start dates from the forum mainpage are gone. Well, all dates are gone now.


    And I was just not logged out. Well, when I hit F5 just be be sure I was logged out again. But looks like someone is building on the forum.
