Data base for my foods

I'm not understanding how I can input the foods I'm using to create a meal plan, day after day. Shouldn't I be able to enter 20 foods, then when whether I put my breakfast, lunch, diner, or snack meal together for a given day, shouldn't I have some sort of pick list drop down or option to quickly choose what I'm going too eat that day? It seems, only after I enter a food in a meal, like tuna for Dinner, I only see it as an option to pick for future dinners, not for lunch or a snack. Do I literally have to put the same food item once in a breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack to see it in the future? I'm good at following directions, if someone answer I can do this, but doesn't explain step by step instructions, 'm going to expect problems. I'm already writing for help because it's not intuitive as it stands to do what I'm asking. Thank you for any help

Are you using the phone/tablet app, Apple or Android, or are you using web browser MFP?

In either case, you can make your whole set of previously-logged recent/frequent foods accessible for all meals, but exactly how to do that differs.

Loosely, in the phone/tablet app, look for a button next to "History" when you go to add a food to your diary. The button may have different labels depending on what options settings are currently in place for you. My button, in the Android app, is a rounded oblong that currently says "Most Recent" on it.

Click on that button. If you scroll down in the panel that results, there should be an option to check either a meal name, or "All Meals". Click on the "All Meals", then click the check-mark near the top right of that pop-up panel to set it.

    Apple should be somewhat similar.

In web browser MFP, on the page that comes up after you click that you want to add a food to your diary, look for a thing that right below the search box that says "Or, add your favorites for". Click the down arrow next to that, and click "All Meals" in the list that appears.

If you need more specific directions, I'm willing to post screen shots if you tell me which version of MFP you're using. I'm just a regular MFP user like you - just a more experienced one - trying to help. It's quite a lot of work to create/post screen shots for all the variations, but I'm happy to do it for whichever one you really need, if you need more details.
