Autumn - Autumn started on March 1.
Australia seasons are defined using the Meteorological system where as North America uses Astronomical Seasons.Fortunately March is usually quite a nice month, and this one is yet another good example. ๐ In fact, if you're planning to come to Tasmania, March is a good choice.
Cars - my "check engine" light has been on for years. We get it serviced every year, but for some reason it can't be turned off. I'll be taking it in for another service shortly.
Living Fence - We have wooden fences but the Couch grass running rampant over here is destroying the fences. I am trying to remove the Couch grass, but that's an uphill battle. We'll leave the wood fences in place, but eventually I want to start planting something as a living fence.
Changing Doctors - When we change doctors here, the new doctor gives us a form to fill in allowing them to ask our previous doctor for records. Aside from that form, the movement of records happens without our involvement.
Dry Needling - I've had it done a few times. The first time was for my knees when I dramatically increased the amount of cycling I was doing in the early 2000s. I was actually thinking I might need knee replacements in the near future!! Then I had dry needling and started taking glucosamine, and my knees improved and haven't been much of a problem since (I have ligament twinges now and then).
I get tendonitis in my right elbow from time to time, and have had dry needling for that. Sometimes it seems to help but not every time.
I've also had it done for a particularly difficult part of my back but I don't recall that it helped.
Chiropractor - I need to see mine soon. But it is so hard to get the time, especially since I'm just starting a new job while wrapping up my previous job.
I partially dislocated my left shoulder in 2007 and I experience recurrent shoulder subluxation since because of joint instability. It feels "out" again.
Ginny - take care of yourself!

Another bicycle ride today โฆ surrounded by rain!
Just finished reading this book. I don't often read biographies/true stories โฆ I much prefer fiction because I like to escape from real life. But this book is remarkable.
Today is the 7th anniversary of my husband's accident.

Iโm new and trying to figure out how the โcommunityโ aspect of this platform works. It appears everything is separated by category and you canโt just see all general posts. Anyway I signed up for this app originally 10/22 but after a day I left and decided to sign up for Noom. Loved and did it for about a year. Then took a break and realized I needed more โcommunityโ to help me with ongoing weight loss and joined Weight Watchers. Also loved that but when my membership expired I didnโt renew and now Iโm back to this free platform. Hoping I love it too! Since Oct 2022 I have lost 55 lbs and have another 40 to reach my goal.

@rosied1226 - We're glad you're here, and yes, community here is a little different. This thread is restarted at the beginning of each month, because it works well for everyone to have a clean slate. Many of us have been here a long time, but quite a few are new, as well. Well done on the weight loss! You can find here a huge amount of support both for weight loss and for other aspects of life, as well, as we're all here to get healthy, and that includes everything about our lives. We do ask that everyone refrain from discussing religion or politics so this can stay a safe haven for everyone. Please, drop into any conversation where you feel comfortable, ask a question or leave a comment. Sign your posts with what you want us to call you and a general area (I always sign mine Lisa in Arkansasโฆ ๐) If you're on a computer, you can bookmark this month's thread with the hyperlink below,
or, on your phone or tablet, there's a small bookmark symbol at the top, and by selecting it, it will turn blue, like the example here.

๐ I'm taking a break from doing anything that has an emotional component and enjoying my unscheduled time. Annie and I sit on the couch a lot. I got a book from the library about Svalbard and have been watching YouTube videos made by the woman who wrote the book. It puts everyone's weather in an interesting perspective.
๐ I found the direction books for the battery powered yard equipment (mower, trimmer, leaf blower). Now I can read about them in preparation for dry weather when I can use them. The back yard needs to be mowed but it hasn't gotten dry enough to mow. The driveway and sidewalk need to be blown off but they are too wet, too.
๐ Annie likes chasing a ball. I found a brand that's so tough that she can't destroy it. Over the last year I've bought several two packs of them but they seem to disappear. i like to have several on the couch and on the table so I can throw them. Also throwing the ball helps keep her occupied when I'm dancing. I hadn't been able to figure out how they kept disappearing. Yesterday I used the second bathroom and discovered four balls in the tub, then late found two balls under the guest bed. i have two more balls coming in the next order from Chewy.

This "community" is a forum, set up like the forums that have been around for 25+ years attached to websites of all sorts.
It is not set up like Facebook.
It's more or less like this:
MyFitnessPal has several sections. One section is where we go to enter our exercise and food and to participate on the newsfeed with our friends. Another section is the forum.
The MFP forum contains several subforums or "Categories".
Within each subforum or "Category", there are a whole lot of threads. For example, within the Motivation and Support subforum or "Category", there is a long collection of Women Ages 50+ {month, year} threads. And Barbie starts a new thread each month.ย
Within each thread, there are lots of posts.
That's how we see it because there is a reasonably decent user interface for us to work with.
However, all the posts from all the threads go into a table in a database behind the scenes (pretty much).
Search engines and others who might be interested in forum data see the table in the database.
Welcome here to our particular thread containing all sorts of posts on all sorts of topics generally related to health and wellness. ๐

Machka - Many hugs for that moment in time that changed both your lives forever! I don't think any other person could have done as much as you have to give you both the chance of a normal life. Your determination made that happen.
Carol, Ginny, Rita, and everyone facing trials, whether medical or otherwise, thinking of you all.
Corey's on his way up the mountain - one of their crew members threw the serpentine belt on one of the brand-new trucks, and the engine overheated. If that sounds like I know what it means, yeah, no I really don't. I have a vague idea. Suffice to say, he will be getting paid more overtime than usual this week, since he's going out on a Saturday morning.
As for me, the current project may have beaten me. I worked on that thing for five hours yesterday, and I am SO over it! The mangled remains of it are all over my workroom. One more try at it this morning, and if it does work, I'll post a picture. Otherwise, I will do what Egg does and bury it in the yard. ๐๐โโฌ๐(Egg's my cat, ๐ฝ for those who don't know).
Onward, my chickens, and much love from my early Arkansas springโฆ the peach tree is full bloom, and Corey might (five years later) finally get to bite into a peach from his own tree!
Love y'all,

Anyone here heard of or use Acorn? You connect it to a card you use often and round up the charges. The difference is invested for you. Adds up after a while. My question is it worth it? Are the charges for the trades a hard no for you. When researching this online, I get different views, but the majority agree that the only negative is the monthly charges if you have a small amount in their account. Thoughts?
Supposed to get in the mid 80โs F here both Saturday and Sunday. With it being Spring break here, we are bracing for a rough weekend. The campground has been full the last 2 weeks and we have been turning campers away who did not make a reservation. We have a separate campground for these people, however there is no electricity and people are not happy about that. All the state campgrounds here in New Mexico require reservations, with places for โoverflowโ. Some people donโt like to research a head of time. I love doing research!

Sitting here waiting for my cousin to pick me up. We have a small reunion for some classmates. He decided to come up from LA. staying at his place in Sacramento so offered to pick me up and we will go up together to our home town an hour north of me. He is running late. The potluck is an all day thing so we will just go for a few hours, stop and see mom then come back home. He is flying back to LA tomorrow I think. I need to be home to take care of the cats here and the dog at MIL's because dh is in Sacramento for a show- two days so he won't be home until tomorrow night.
It will be fun to see old friends but getting time with my favorite cousin is the best part of it all.Things with MIL are the same. She is being mean to the staff where she is living now. BUT, the owner says they can handle it and surprisingly , she isn't the worst one there.
Dh still hasn't admitted that she will never be coming home. He is taking his time going through stuff at her house. Ds wants it all just taken to the dump. Need a middle ground for them right now. That is what I am trying to do. Dh is upset that they packed all the pots and pans that were down stairs. Wants them "IF" she comes home. First, she won't be coming home and if by chance she does, she won't be going up and down the stairs and cooking big meals again.Worked in my green house and hope to work in it again tomorrow after church. I love seeing the little plants popping up in my hydroponic garden on my kitchen table. I need to check and see what hasn't came up yet and plant more out in the green house. Mom has now decided she wants to plant the whole garden so people can come out and pick(friends so pick for free). We had agreed to cut back when we were sorting the seeds. She doesn't even have the potting soil to start the seeds yet, That is why I am planting extras here to at least have a head start.
Been walking a lot still. I am still getting at least 5 miles, up to 9 a day.
Hip is acting up last night and this morning. Hopefully it goes away.
Walked the dog this morning but just 20 min and will walk him again. Not sure how long- depends on what time I get home.Going to read and catch up on what everyone has been doing while I wait for Jack.

Well, last night was fun๐๐ผ๐. Husband drove me to Mt Vernon for my friend (old roommate back in the 1980's) comedy show. It was nice to see her on stage, but right after the show she was out hawking bags with her mug and a cute saying on them. Here she did a 60 minute set, and right after she is behind a table in the lobby selling shopping bags. She is 70 years old, least she could have someone else being the cashier, as she is physically an mentally coming down off a full set like that. So I waited in line, she looked at me, smiled said hi. I'm like, "do you remember me, I'm Rebecca". She said she did, but said she didn't have any time to chat, sorry. It was weird. I mean I get that she was extremely busy, people all crowded around, but we were roommates! A moment, maybe a hug, but I just left to meet up with husband that was waiting. I had to kind of have a talk with my brain saying, " I know you had a scenario in your head how it would go, but life doesn't work like that". I think back then, I valued our friendship more than she did. I looked up to her like a big sister, and these last 40 years have dreamed of our meeting up. So I had to get back to reality on the ride home.

Happy Saturday Friends. Itโs been an interesting week. Sinus headache came on and stayed for 2 days despite taking OTC meds. I donโt have much experience with allergies, and was miserable and desperate. My friend recommended a different decongestant which I tried. Next day at work I black out. Ambulance to ER, discharged 3 hours later and feeling fine since then except that I still have congestion. No injuries or serious problems with heart were uncovered. At the hospital my bp was high, and I was slightly anemic. Yes, I am going to get another exam ASAP by my primary (probably Monday). My instincts tell me the blackout occurred because I was dehydrated and bp got too low. The episode has made me very sensitive to every little twitch, pain, and flutter I feel and that messes with my head. Iโm not normally anxious, at all, about anything. Will feel whole once I have more definitive answers. Meanwhile, itโs rest, hydration and regular meals. Grateful it wasnโt worse, and that I work in a venue that is literally crawling with first responders.
Re: Iโm so happy youโve remembered us. I lost my DH almost 4 years ago and went about making changes in stages like you are doing. You wonโt regret it.
Rosemarie: I also have strong emotional attachment to my late DB and DHโs shirts. The hospice center has volunteers who converted some of them into pillows which I gave to close friends. I also found a lady on Etsy who makes quilts from t-shirts. You can choose the color for backing. They are beautiful and I have them placed where I can see them every day.
Machka: Ditto what Lisa beautifully said. Itโs hard to believe it has been 7 years. Your journey, and your courage to share it here with us, is a huge inspiration. Congratulations on the new job.
Allie: Wishing you a swift and thorough recovery. The grands are so dang cute, but I want to join the chorus advising against returning to infant care given your compromised state. Take this time to heal and get rest.
Debbie: Happy you are getting time with your cousin and friends. Nice to have a respite from DH and MIL drama.
Lisa: Keep your videos coming. I find them insightful, but Egg is the star!
Michele: My friend N is with his father on South Huchinson Island. Is that close to your condo? He has been enjoying the rockets from their seaside deck.
Lanette: If you want hugs from tall fellas, get involved with a basketball team. I am not that tall and when the team members or their relatives hug me I feel like Iโm dwarf in a redwood forest.
Barbie: I continue to think of you and surround you with peace.
Iโll wrap this up. Stay well friends. Thatโs certainly my plan. We can do this.

Flea - I just spotted that little creek and waterfall you have on campus. Beautiful, I'd love to have something like this in my back yard. I'd really never leave home!
Lisa- I neglected to add that if you do decide to run for a public office, you'd be great and they'd be lucky to have you. ๐ Just ran across your latest post. Crossing fingers Corey gets his peach this summer! Maybe dozens. ๐
Machka - great job on the weight loss. You're "crushing it." Isn't it a great feeling to pull on some once- tight pants or capris in your case, and find they are now loose and comfortable? Thank you for being a continuing inspiration on this thread. Thanks, too, for sharing your experience with Dry Needling. First time I ever heard of it is when Ginny mentioned having it done on her feet a few months back.
Barbie - good for you taking a break from potentially emotional stuff. "I'll think about that tomorrow" is a phrase that gets me through a lot of days. I read somewhere that "just doing one thing" per day like a big pile of laundry, getting groceries in town, cleaning the bathroom, etc. is enough to keep us on an even keel, especially during these chilly early spring days when we'd really like to spend more time outside with our hands in the dirt. Relaxing, reading and tossing the ball for Annie sounds great.
Barbara - hope the water system story has a happy ending! Glad Joe is getting out for his exercise.
Machka and Lisa - good descriptions of what this thread is all about. I think some new ladies are disappointed because it's not just dedicated to weight loss - shedding pounds to look good at the 40th class reunion isn't our focus here.
2 years ago today the my hens hatched out! So happy hatch day to Gladys, Thelma and Fairy, lol.๐ค๐ฃ
I slept well and still just woke up from a nap! ๐
Make it a wonderful weekend, ladies!

Hello All.
Iโm managing, but the mister is keeping me in my toes.
Mo-i donโt know how you maintain your calm with some of these parents. I guess thatโs why Iโm not in the medical field.
I am sick with some kind of head cold and fighting allergies. If I lean over or even look downward, it feels like my brain is oozing out. I am helping the mister begin his journey to relearn to walk for a bit, the. Iโm going to try to take it easy.
Iโm wondering if any of you have experience with Linzess for IBS / Crohns issues? Side effects?Good wishes to you all.
Tina in CA8 -
Barbie-I think you deserve some time to just "be."
Ginny-Yes, best wishes on the surgery.
Allie-Glad you're doing well.
Machka-Congrats on the more comfy pants and thanks for the book recommendation. I put it on my list. How is your DH coming along with his bone repair?
Pip-I'm rooting for you!
Barbara, Rita-Hugs.
Carol-Hope you're feeling better soon.
Annie-We miss you.
Beth-Nice photo of you and your mom.
Hugs and best wishes to anyone I missed!

๐ Debbie Don't underestimate your husband's emotional confusion about his mother. After my mother died and i inherited everything and was living in her house which was something she wanted, I still had dreams about her being in the house with me and disapproving of what I'd done with her possessions. I can't imagine what it would have been like if I'd moved into her house and disposed of her possessions while she was still alive.
๐ Rebecca I remember many experiences like yours when we traveled in our RV planning to visit and spend time with friends and they dismissed us with a moment's visit and not the hours or days we expected to be spending with them.
๐ Lanette and Tina Thanks for reminding me that just doing something is a good thing and that I don't have to accomplish a lot to make it a good day. Today I took the turkey out of the freezer to defrost in the fridge and went to the hardware store to buy a watering can and more potting soil.
๐ Machka, I admire how you have built a new life for you and your husband after his injury.

Machka - my previous car is still going and itโs had an engine light on since 2012. This one has been on since we bought it 4 years ago.
Itโs hard to believe all you have learned and accomplished in those 7 years.Barbie - I think taking a break from emotional stuff is a wonderful idea.
It sounds like Annie is playing hide and seek with her balls, she just didnโt tell you about the game. ๐Lisa - That sounds like a heavy job for in the road, will he bring it back to the shop for repair?
Debbie - Iโm not surprised your MILโs care provider can handle her behaviour. Anyone in the business knows that it is common.
Your son is expecting a lot of his father right now. He needs time to come to grips with everything and have some time to breathe before having to make further decisions. Itโs not fair that heโs not getting that break.
I hope you had a great drive with your cousin to your reunion.Rebecca - Iโm sorry your reality didnโt meet your expectation. Sometimes we have such high expectations the reality just slaps us in the face.
Rori - that must have been a frightening experience. Hopefully you get a clean bill of health from your primary.
Lanette - Those ladies sure have a wonderful life with you. Happy birthday to them.
Michaela painted these today. I helped her a little bit with touch ups on the snake, but she did the turtle completely by herself.
I received a message from a friend in NB asking if I had a spare room she could use, her brother lives here and his wife has been just diagnosed with terminal cancer. I of course told her she was welcome here.
Tonight when I went to put Michaela to bed the bed broke again. Rodger fixed it from the last time, but it didnโt last. So now I need to find a bed for the spare room before she comes.
I found one on Marketplace, hopefully I can get it.Tracey in Edmonton
