    @SophieRosieMom … and others …

You might be interested in these articles and it appears that 4 went up and 4 came down.

I "watched" the landing virtually and found it fascinating.

Regarding vacations, days off and rest …

I get quite a lot of time off down here in Australia. We're given 4 weeks of annual leave when we start working somewhere. We've got 12 days of public holidays each year … plus an extra 3 days at Christmas. I have been working a 9-day fortnight for about 4 years now. My employer offers us all "purchased leave" where we can get an extra 10 days off each year and I've done that for many years until 2 years ago … I plan to start doing that again in a few months. And I've got Long Service leave now.

    And I take it all!!

    BUT …

In the past 7 years, I have felt a certain degree of stress during every day I have had off work. I have not been able to truly rest and relax. I long for a few days of complete relaxation, but I don't see that happening.

The closest I get to it is Friday nights. On Friday night, my husband goes to bed by about 11 pm. A little after midnight I get into bed with a book and I read for about an hour. Then I sleep for 10+ hours. If I'm fortunate, sometimes I can do that again on Saturday nights.

I know that chronic stress is not good, but what if stress never goes away.

Fortunately, there are some things I do to reduce stress and they help a little bit.

    • Colouring (as mentioned)
    • Reading
    • Gardening
    • Cycling
    • Walking
    • Rhody … our cat. Watching him, playing with him, patting him, walking him.

What do you do to reduce stress?

Ants … we've had a terrible time with them too.

Outside, we've got large ants everywhere … everywhere!!! There's definitely no walking around barefoot out there!

Inside, we had an infestation of tiny, little ants. But we seem to have gotten rid of them using cheap honey and borax.

I drove mine from Tacoma to federal way where I used to work, even though winter. First I got the scooter then he got me the sidecar for Valentine’s Day. I drove it for awhile. It was fun

Tracey I do the same thing for ants…Borax and powdered sugar. I also put sage, rosemary, or lavender stems which ever I have at the doorways. I do have to be careful with the borax mix because I have a dog.

Lanette I have never had steroid injection nor would I choose to have one. Allie is correct steroids raise your blood sugar. In my opinion it it is a temporary fix. They gave DH steroids in the last months of his life. He got one good day from it and then crashed and ended up with Afib. I was not asked my opinion before he took it. I am of the opinion that cancer is a metabolic disorder depending on the type of cancer. Cancer feeds on glucose that is why having type two diabetes puts you at greater risk for cancer.

When my vet told me the treatment for the immune disorder DrewB had was steroids it prompted me to start looking outside the box. The end result was a healthier dog and a healthier me because of the knowledge that I gained in my search.

That being said being in the intense pain from back and knee issues causes other health issues and getting that temporary relief can give you the chance to look at diet and lifestyle to address the underlying causes of the pain.

More and more of my research tracing back to the state of the Microbiome in your gut and your muscle and bone health directs the state of your overall health and your weight. You could be 150 with poor muscle tone or 155 with strong muscle and bones (muscle weighs more than fat). You would be better off and your clothes would fit better at 155.

For me weight is just one marker of my health. I do watch it but how I feel, how my clothes fit, and my blood pressure and pulse (100/74 with pulse of 69 last night is a better marker than my weight. This morning BP 117/72 pulse 71 after having pancake made with oat flour. Still good but interesting to see the effect of the pancake.

I do need to watch sitting for long periods and get myself to take movement breaks!

    Good Morning Everyone;

Can you believe that I don't have a lot to say? I have mostly questions.

Tracey, does the current owner of ceramics know anything about the shop's future?

Michelle, Let us know why the girl was let go. The money for the raise could have been well spent to keep the customers happy. Happy customers equal economic growth. Suppose the current person is not making the customers happy, then economic decline. With the price of groceries and everything else happening, they should have given her a raise. Like the lyrics of this old song I heard before, it is cheaper to keep her.

Allie, I always wondered who Siri was, and then you showed a picture of her. She is beautiful. Have you seen Alfie since you have been home? How are you feeling? Do you have any pain? Did your urine look bloody after the surgery.? Are they monitoring your labs? Electrolytes? ( I am just curious.)

Barbie, is Annie a lab mixed with something? How did you and Jake get her? Last question: How old is she?

PiP, has Kirby run or biked since he had that fall in the marathon?

Carol, how is your husband doing?

Machka, I love that sunset shot. You may need to add photography to your list. How is DH doing with his recovery from his Achilles tendon surgical repair?

Terri, how are you doing? I haven't heard from you.

Lisa, I have a block in learning how to sew for some reason. I failed it in Home Economics in middle school. I tried at JoAnnes and didn't succeed. I may try again since I spent a fortune on cute hospital gowns for one of my favorite patients, which I purchased from Etsy. How did you learn to sew?

Heather, I feel you and John also contributed to the greatness of your grandchildren. It does take a village. Is there a way you can share your hip exercises?

My last question is, who is Rosie's mom? Lanette or Carol.

    Have a happy day, everyone.

    XO,

    Mo from Mississippi

Machka - thank you for all of the info on the International Space Station. For some reason I thought there was a period of time when there were only the 2 of them up there. I knew 4 came back. Sounds like Boeing's return vehicle had to go to the shop for the "check engine" light and they couldn't come up with the part. 😁

Did you feel any of the earthquake that hit NZ?

Mo - I am Rosie's mom. She's a miniature schnauzer going on pit bull, lol.

Barbie - I too use Rosie as a convenient excuse to skip going to functions I don't mind missing. 😁 She'll be 8 so her puppy chewing days are over (plus she has lost some teeth) but still there's her need to "do her business" and I want to make sure I'm around for that.

Margaret - my DH was on steroids (prednisone) for decades due to his RA. When he was diagnosed, that was the one medicine they were able to put him on which caused the least side effects, but there are nasty long term side effects of course. I'm not opposed to a one-time shot, if indicated, plus exercise and core strengthening to prevent the acute back event from happening again. I had 2 cortisone shots in my foot years ago but failed to keep up with the calf stretches. I'm still checking it all out and appreciate the input from everyone.

Tracey - glad you were able to take advantage of your vacation day.

Collette is here right now and doing her thing.

Looks like we might have wild weather tomorrow according to one prediction. T storms, wind and possible tornadoes. The weather guys tend to get overly enthusiastic with their predictions of mayhem, so we'll see. They might be right this time. 🤔

I seem to have been on a roll recently with my cooking. Every dinner has been a great success! Nothing fancy or difficult, but just healthy and tasty. Tonight was the left over lentils from the other day, revived in a carrot, onion, celery, and garlic broth, with Italian sausages and a mound of broccoli. With Dijon mustard. Deeeeevine.

    :-)

True! My "expert" would much rather go with me and nap in the car than stay home without me. She's quite insistent when I am leaving the house that she needs to go with me. Silly thing.

    Flea, at Ivar's!

Mo - I gleaned the hip exercises from YouTube. There are loads of helpful practitioners on there. I just tried a few until I found some that talked sense and made a difference.

Have some clam chowder for me at Ivars!! Are you at the Market? There used to be an Ivar's at the base of Queen Anne on the water there. Not sure if it's still there, might all be condos by now. 😁 I need to teleport up there.
