Macros

I'd like to start counting macros but don't know where to start! Trying to lose weight. I understand the count is different for maintanance or building muscle. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Don't get too wrapped up in macros right now as the only one that's actually important at this point is protein, you want to make sure you're getting enough. building muscle will come from your overall calorie amounts, enough protein, and a proper training program.

Yeah, just use the default macros that the setup gives you. 50%Carbs, 30%Fat and 20%Protein.

Perfectly fine for weight loss. I didn't even pay that much attention to macros. I usually ate far more fat than the default and a bit lower carbs, but not "low carb" exactly. Like tom said above, just get enough protein and try to get enough fiber too…fat is important for a healthy body - skin, nails, brain function and digestion, carbs can just fall where they fall.

Weight loss is about calories and getting the best nutrition will make it easier. Macros are not super important to be precise.

I am happy to help with macros if you want to add me as a friend on MFP. I started with the default settings, but realized those were not "right" for me. I also looked into my basal metabolic rate. Once I did both of those, the weight started to melt off. Presumably, the muscle would stack right on if you're looking for gains as long as macros & basal are good.
