Track your calories, eat at a 250 to 500 calorie deficit. You might be able to lose 4 pounds. Maybe. But honestly, I would just focus on being excited for your trip.

Unless your trip is 4 or more months away don't even worry about it much depends on how much you're wanting to lose.

You aren't going to significantly change much in 30 days. Even with the most on point strict diet. You can lose weight (from 3-7lbs on average) but weight loss DOESN'T always equate to fat loss. And you CANNOT CHOOSE where to lose fat unless you're willing to do it by surgery.

Eat a calorie deficit, add in a little exercise to burn more calories and you may be able to lose an inch off your waistline.

But fat loss is usually a longer term deal even if you're consistent.

Lose a little now for this vacation. Have fun! Start now getting in shape for the next vacation.

I agree with the "maybe 4 pounds" idea, with a caveat. If you have lots of weight you might like to lose, that small a loss won't much show. If you have only a little bit to lose, it might show, but you'd be risking health and vitality to lose weight faster than is sensible. I assume you're appearance motivated in this instance, so I'll mention that one of the potential risks of fast loss - one that is among the less severe but more likely - is thinning or lost hair. Because that's a delayed effect in most cases, a few weeks after starting the silly-aggressive weight loss, it might hit just about vacation time. Not a good look.

Yirara's suggestion of a manageably challenging strength training routine is a good one for appearance, with some potential benefits even in as little as four weeks - as she says, more from posture and mobility/vivacity than from so-called "toning".

Do that, tune up your nutrition to excellence overall to create the best possible glow, find one of those pretty tummy-tamer swimsuits if it's a beachy vacation . . . and make a more sensible plan for next vacation, rather than a too-late panic.

I'm not trying to be mean here, just trying to be realistic. Fast loss is pretty much never good, for a variety of reasons, and fast loss for appearance reasons is even more likely to backfire.

I'm sorry, but you waited too late to accomplish much by this year's vacation time.
