Calories not accepted

Before I set my food goals, I researched and found I should subtract 500 cal. from the daily maintenance amount. That left me around 900 cal., but app will not save my entry since it is not between 1200 and 1400 cal. Is there a way to correct this? I am only 4'9".

You can't "correct this" as it's just the way MFP works. Just don't bother to "close" your diary page. I never do, it just gives you an entirely fictitious estimate of where you might be in 6 weeks.

Your diary will save whatever you enter.

I'm taller than you but I kept to 1,000 calories for much of my weight loss.

That doesn't sound right at all. If you haven't been advised by a doctor to eat that little (which they most certainly wouldn't unless you were a bariatric patient) please consider setting up your goals for maintenance in the app. It is correct that we will not provide you goals lower than 1200 calories/day for women, or 1500/day for men. This is for your safety. Eating too few calories a day can have negative health effects.

To reset to default goals, go to www.MyFitnessPal.com, sign in with the same username and password as the app. Once online you can either go to the main "Settings" tab and then to "Edit Diet/Fitness Profile". Make sure all information is correct in that area. Whether you need to make changes or not to the page, if you then click the Update Profile link at the bottom of the page, it should instantly set you on the most current information for your profile.

Or if you like, you can go to the "Goals" tab, and then "Change Goals" then "Guided" and walk through the set up once more. If you are using an app, all updated changes should then transfer to the app the next time you log in with the same username and password, and there is a valid internet connection.

Thank you so much. It's just what I've been doing, but thought maybe there was a way to override it. I've found if I exceed my calorie goal, I struggle to lose even 1/2 lb a week. Appreciate your time to answer this.

To tell the truth, my goal calories were about 1,100 but this would mean several days at 1,000 or less so that I could eat out with friends occasionally.

I am just over 5' (152 cm) and even now I only have about 1,600 calories allowance in maintenance (been maintaining now for nearly 5 years)

I lost 22.5 kg (about 50 lbs) over 9 months during which I had holidays and meals out by averaging my calories over the weeks.

Good luck with your objectives @gmlini10 !
