🙃 Doing laundry with Annie is entertaining. As I carry an armful of stuff from the hamper in the bedroom across the house to the washer, she pulls items out of my hands so only half of what I'm carrying gets to the washer. After emptying the hamper, I have to wait until she's busy doing something else and walk through the house picking up what she pulled out of my arms. Later when I'm folding she pulls things off the table or out of my hands so I have to do a lot of it twice. She doesn't chew on anything, just likes to grab it from me. If I try to grab it back, she thinks it's tug-of-war and that's not good. Life here is entertaining.
😀 Michele, My grassy yard is small so not too many steps. The big thing with the mower is being able to do it myself just like you wanting to dig your own holes for planting rather than hiring someone. We bought this house in 2011 when Jake declared that he was done with mowing and maintaining a big yard. It was a good decision because this is a yard I can care for. I could do more than I do but now I have Annie who needs lots of time and attention.
😥 Jake's death certificate that his death was probably related to smoking. He smoked for decades and didn't stop until he was 60. As his health deteriorated he often apologized to me for the things he'd done to contribute to his ill health. He was fortunate to live until age 79 because he changed his behaviour at the end.

RO ~ Your house remodeling plans sound fantastic! I love the fact that you sound so sure about what you want to change and your ability to research for the best ideas.
Heather ~ You looked very calm and at peace with your school buddies. I know you were worried about going but am glad you got to see old friends.
Machka ~ Hope your shoulder heals quickly and the shot works.
Allie ~ Glad that you are following the dr's orders. Keep it up!
I am working on strengthening my knees by doing some squats and other exercises. After my house walking fiasco with the hips and knees, I find that my legs want to give out on me. So, just hoping that exercise will help. If it doesn't may have to ask to be sent for PT again.
My other problem is that I had the eye procedure done to remove the film behinds the lens made everything look so much brighter but am having a lot of trouble with floaters which I was told might happen. Guess I will have to go back and see if a new prescription for glasses will help.

Carol - hugs for you. Keep up the exercises. I hope it all resoves soon.
Super lunch at Shandiz with Max. I walked all the way there, about a mile, keeping up with the boys! And I felt fairly fresh when I got there. Gorgeous food, nice chat, but not cheap! I hope I will be able to walk longer distances soon. I would love to be able to walk to The Regency from here. That's 2 miles or more. I used to walk everywhere. I am feeling so much more capable in myself.
I'm posting this photo, not because I want you to see P and G, but because I absolutely love this view from the National Portrait Gallery restaurant. The roofscape is lovely. The food is expensive, but the view is worth it, if you are ever in London. Yes, that is Nelson, on his column.
G is staying up with P for one night.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

I have arranged to meet up with my friend from school I reconnected with yesterday. Haven't been out with her in more than a decade. She is a Member of Tate Modern art gallery, so we are going to meet for lunch in the Members Room in May. Hooray! ( Hope the train trip is better than last week's! ) She is allowed one guest. Nice lunches and lots of sofas, apparently.
She is still dancing and runs an old persons' dance group in London, who give performances to things like nursing homes etc. At school she was a fabulous ballet dancer, the star of my ballet class. After our lunch she will be going off to teach the group.

Michelle, You can rent a large auger. They have different sizes depending on the size hole you need. They have ones for electric drivers are good for smaller holes. Check out what they have at your local rental place. We had used one once and it worked well for what we were using it for.
Lisa, we had over 3 months without rain. I used to hate rain, now am glad when it does. It started raining last night which worked into the dream I was having. I woke up and thought “is it REALLY raining? Awesome!” The weatherman predicts rain Thursday-Saturday. If it does, we are in for another flood!
I ordered a pair of HOKA shoes yesterday. These things are so expensive, I really hope they last a long time. The sandals are SO comfortable! I will toss all my other foot ware out except for a pair of slip on sandals to use as slippers.
Tuesday, I got a text from son that they didn’t think he was fit for work. I then got a call from him saying he is going to rehab, curtesy of his job (he is working for the best company! They try to help him. This is not the first time.) He gave me the name of the place and I, of course, researched it. Looks like a great place for him, IF and that is a big IF, he works the whole program. This information really eased my mind about him. Then yesterday, Thursday, I got a call from his therapist asking about his past. This is the first time he has made me his first contact, and I am so happy as I definitely have all the info they need and am willing to help. He should see a difference in his care. A couple hours later, I got another call from the family support person who sent me a TON of information I need to go through.
On our way to town yesterday, we stopped at 2 different campgrounds to inquire about cost, etc and one of them contacted us last night to ask if we wanted to work for them! We are talking about this and need to go back to talk to them further about this offer.
Too much brain power expended yesterday! And emotions!
Thought for today:
Why was the tavern always so clean?
It was a bar of soap!

Rita - so glad you like the HOKA shoes! Many people swear by them. Also good news about your son and the interest the therapist and family support person are taking. Looks like a giant step in his future care. Grateful to hear this. And veerrryyy interesting that the one campground extended a job offer. Do you think you'd like this better than the other park you'd previously decided on? So good to have options!
Heather, I meant to ask - did you go to a girl's only school? I don't see any gents in the photo. Sounds like you had a good time and neat you'll be going to Tate Modern Art Gallery. I too shy away from offers to pick me up or drive me home from well-meaning friends. In most cases, as long as I can manage my own wheels, I'm going by myself. Show up when I want and leave when I want and take a detour if I want. And by the way, proud of you for extending your walking distance.
Carol - I too have a big floater in my right eye. Sometimes it's no bother and other times it seems I'm looking through a veil. Hope a new prescription helps you. Best of luck with your knee strengthening exercises. All along I've been doing a few "sink squats" - hanging onto the sink and doing a squat, very slowly. Come to find out, the physical terrorist had me doing something very similar.
Why I can't allow sweets in the house:
Tuesday morning after 7 am PT I decided to stop in at the grocery store. First time in a long time, I grabbed a small package of peanut M&M's, a box of Nonni's Biscotti which I used to love to dip in coffee, and a pint of "real" ice cream that contained only cream, milk, sugar and marionberries. By bedtime last night, they all had been consumed. That's a 36 hour time period. Everything was delicious, but a harsh reminder to keep this type of stuff out of the house.
Busy morning today - Camry tires rotated at Les Schwab, then an oil change. Les Schwab's inspection showed my front brakes wearing a little but I think I'm good for quite a while. The Rapid Lube place told me to get the transmission fluid changed one of these days. I honestly don't think it's that bad, but I'm glad they pointed it out. It took me 1 1/2 years to put 3,000 miles on the car. They also used to "top off" the antifreeze and windshield wiper fluid for free. This time, they charged $10 for the antifreeze. I normally can take care of it myself but let them take care of it.
I noticed both places had very few customers. Normally, Les Schwab is backed up with vehicles waiting when they open at 8. This morning, several bays remained open. And at he Rapid Lube shop - there's normally a small wait. They have 2 service bays. I was the only customer the whole time I was there. It gave me more time to yak with the employees, lol. I really like that small family owned business and hope they can make it.

Lanette - My school was Horsham High School for Girls. In those days, most secondary schools were one gender. Later, grammar schools were largely abolished, the comprehensive school came in, and they became mixed ability and mixed gender. The grammar schools (which mine was), back then, were selective, and you had to take an exam, called the 11 plus, to get in. Only 20% of the population attended. I was chosen by my primary school to take the exam a year early, at 10 years old, so I am a year younger than the other 'girls', who are already 76. I don't think we are doing too badly!

Lanette, I have been off sugar for a few months now, but wanted something special for a rainy day lunch, so made pancakes with real maple syrup. I usually keep sweets out of the house as well, other than ones I make without sugar.
Jell-O sugar free chocolate fudge pudding is lovely and chocolaty, and when made with skim lactose free milk is low in calories, good protein, and doesn't upset my stomach. Even better, doesn't make me crave sugar. We'll see if the maple syrup triggers it. It definitely made me sleepy! Had to go to sleep for an hour after!

Lisa - after all of the carbs and fat, I actually slept great last night. 😁 I looked up the Glycemic loads for Peanut M&M's and ice cream - both of them don't raise the blood sugar that much because of the fat and protein they contain, if the charts can be believed. I think Nonnie's Biscotti was probably the worst - sugar and flour. By the way, thanks for the Jello Sugar Free pudding recommendation. I've seen low-carb dessert recipes using it and should give it a try.
Tomatoes in large Beer Cups - Debbie and others of you who start tomatoes from seeds: Have you ever potted them up in plastic beer cups once they hit the true leaf stage? I'm running out of the 4" pots - I had a zillion from Master Gardener days, and I've given many away. These 18 oz beer cups might be more prone to tipping but they'll have a chance to maybe form a better root structure? I'll snip some drainage holes in the bottom. Plus I can write the variety on the cups with magic marker and not have to make tags. That's my reasoning. Let me know what you think. I don't pot up them up in 1 gallon containers anymore. When I give tomatoes away, I leave them in small containers.
As luck would have it, every seed has germinated. Even the 5 year old ones. 😣 I always overplant figuring I'll get an 80% yield….. I'm not complaining, love being able to give them away to friends. Hopefully since they are small container varieties they'll be a hit this year.

Did HIIT today. Normally, I would do my thing in the pool and then join the water aerobics class. But since I can’t do that I’ve been using the rowing machine. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Biggest Loser 30 day jumpstart DVD and then some pilates.
Mo – I’d prefer not to bake as much. But Vince likes his desserts. To me, a fantastic dessert is a ripe juicy peach. So I bake mainly for him. As far as BK is concerned, yes I went back the day after I got home. They did hire someone in my absence. She doesn’t speak English so they thought that prep would be OK for her. I don’t know how it’s working. Don’t worry, you’ll never get muscular. Women just don’t have the testosterone. I’m glad you do other exercises than just step. How I wish we had a water zumba! I just don’t like all the impact on my knees, which is a reason I don’t run. I need to get back into step aerobics. See, when I had that “callous” on my foot I didn’t want to put pressure so I skipped step. But now that it’s better time to get back to step (and the rebounder)
Re – had guys from Exodus Works come. They called around 10 this morning and were here around 11. Three guys planted all the bushes. Only cost $75. I did give each of the guys a $20 tip. They did it all in less than an hour. It would have taken me anywhere from 5 to 7 days to do. I’m just so undecided if I want tile or wood flooring in the kitchen, so I’ll be looking for what you finally decide since the condo is in FL. What is this 3D imaging thing? Is it a program you have or need to go somewhere to use?
I’m going to remember that there is a drill bit that will make a 1 gallon hole
barbie – I hear ya loud and clear about doing things yourself. I would much prefer to do it my way. Vince has always said that he’d only get me a maid if I absolutely needed one because he knows me and I’d clean before she got here because I didn’t want her to see it dirty and I’d clean after she left because she didn’t do it my way. So I hear ya, I’m the same way
Carol– hope those floaters float away
M– healing thoughts
Rita– I don’t know if an auger would work right now because it’s on a hill and I’m the only one doing it. Vince can’t help me to hold it in place. But I am going to remember it if I ever need one. From what I saw on uTube they are pretty heavy and I don’t think I could hold it on such a slope. If it were flat ground, I probably could. But in the end, the guys did it. It was only $75 (plus I gave them a tip) for an hour and all 7 bushes are planted! It would have take me 5-7 DAYS to do it, they did it in less than an hour. So glad about your son
Lanette– why do you think those places had so few customers?
Went to ceramics tonight. They used to have a sign that you could only paint pieces you bought there, but tonight the sign was down. One guy was telling me that he told the woman in charge that she’d be losing a lot of business because they don’t have a lot of what people want.

Rita … I used to love my 3 pair of HOKA shoes, but two pair are wearing out and my feet have changed. I am planning to go back to the place I got them and get re-tested. They've got a treadmill set up and they film your gait and make note of your foot issues, etc., then recommend shoes that should help. That's how I got onto HOKAs in the first place. HOKAs should still work, but perhaps a different variety.
I had a little look at New Balance shoes and the ones that seem commonly available here would be good for my husband, I think. Most of them have quite high heels and slope down toward the toes. That is not at all good for me, but with his Achilles tendon, they'd likely work for him.
Would this offer to work be paid work … as opposed to where you are now where all the work you do is voluntary?

Hi Everyone;
I hated to separate from Rose, but she was happy to go. She pulled that poor young man all over the place and chose her room. Now, I am packing for our journey. DH and I went out for Mexican food; I could only eat one taco. I was too hungry and ate a lot of chips and salsa. DH lost his wallet, so I had to find it for him. Then he lost my card, so I had to request a new one. I wonder how he does it without me. I will buy him another wallet soon. His wallet was in the bathroom. He did go to the doctor this morning, and everything looked good except his BUN. He needs to drink more water. He also fixed the problem of losing my exemption. Now we are exempt again, and we can do our taxes. Well, I will check my email and check in with the airline. Take care everyone.

Ran the first load through the new washing machine today. Seems to have done a good job. It arrived yesterday but had a small dent in it when they unboxed it. It does not affect performance and is hardly noticeable so I accepted delivery. They are going to give us a $75 refund.
Went to water exercise today and am on my third day with at least 7500 steps. Yay me!
Welcome to those returning and new.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA

Done my morning editing. 😇
Hooray for me, I have a day to be by myself! John has decided, encouraged by me, to go to the opening day of the cricket season, over in Southampton. It's a long, frustrating drive, but he will see his best friend, and it's very good for him. He so rarely drives now, he is beginning to be reluctant. His friend has a guest ticket for him. We got up early, and he has made a packed lunch.
I am going to make a pigs cheeks stew for tonight, as I will only have to heat it up, whatever time he gets back. I haven't yet decided what 'funny lunch' I'm going to have, but refried beans are calling to me.
I have a covid jab later this morning, but it's at my local pharmacy, next to my doctor, about 120 yards away. 😁 Then, later, I have a phone call to my friend L. And that's all. Bliss!

Hello, all…
The percussion section of nature's symphony woke me up about two hours ago now, but the soundscape is now back to the woodwinds, piccolos and such things - the birds are in full swing now! 🐦🕊️🐥Probably more timpanis to come, but that's OK. Egg is sticking awful close, though.
Had my mental health day yesterday, did absolutely nothing productive all day long, had pancakes for lunch, didn't even exercise, after 32 days straight! Throw in my pancake lunch with it's following nap, and I ended up awake until 2 a.m. 🤷🏻♀️🥱😉
Mentally though, it was good for me not to push myself any direction at all for anything. Truly self-indulgent, which is not my usual mode - ordered new underwear, new pajamas, and bought myself a planting table at Aldi that I really wanted. It was absolutely an indulgence, so I discussed that one with Corey first.
Have to be in town (30 minutes away 🚗) to see the podiatrist 🦶🏼👣 PA (physican's assistant) at 1 p.m. Supposed to still be heavy rain ⛈️, but that just means fewer people about. Works for me. Really thinking seriously about going in even earlier to get my hair cut 💇🏻♀️ . They were too busy the last two times I stopped in, so I didn't.
I was also scheduled for lab work on Monday,🩸but you can go in a week before or week after your appointment for standing labwork like this one for iron, so I'll probably get that done. My appointment with the hematologist is on Wednesday, but it's a phone call, so no driving, yay!
Then the medical stuff is done for April until the end of the month, my next Skyrizi home OBI (on-body-injection). 💉📷 Looks just like an old instant camera that you stick on your tummy and it buzzes.
Just talked to Corey 🥰, he's on his way north to get a couple oil changes done on equipment up there 🛻, but his brother's with him, which always makes me worry a little less. Don't know why - Corey's twice the mechanic🔧his brother is - but I'm always glad when he's not driving for hours alone.
Onward and upward kids, the symphony's 🥁gearing up again, and I'm just rattling now. Sorry about the heavy sprinkling of emojis… put those in while I was talking to my Cor. 🗣️🥰
Love y'all,

Covid jab was fine. No waiting.
Then I took myself off to the Co-op to buy flowers, nice pink alstros, and Haagen Dazs ice cream on sale. I was waylaid by some superior hummus, my weakness, and went with a big pretzel to scoop it. So that was lunch sorted. 🤩
Had a chat with G, who thoroughly enjoyed the reunion, and had to be prised away. Amazing how we are all so different. Her friendships spanned more groups, including the sporty group. I am glad I went, but I have no feelings about 80% of the women there. I didn't speak to them at school, and I have little to say to them now. For me, social chit chat is wearing and boring. I can do it, but I much prefer 'deep' talk, one to one, or with a couple of very trusted friends. The main thing is, I now have a date with my old friend, which I am very much looking forward to.
The stew is in the IP. The world is quiet. The sun is shining, again! I am looking forward to chatting with L in half an hour. What could be better?
Now to leaf through my magazine.

ThIs is the school pantomime. You can see me as the Wicked Witch, with a silver face. G, the blond girl in glasses, is sitting in front of me, recovering from anorexia. The other witch who is barely visible, is my friend A, who I was close to, but a difficult person. She didn't come this year as she is only just recovering from a severe psychotic breakdown and a long stay in the hospital. How life deals us all different hands!

And… because my life seldom is uninteresting - making calls all over the place to get my car in - the engine light is on, and it is running rough, which it's never done before. We're covered under the warranty, it's just a matter of getting my car to the dealer. And then, somehow, getting home. Still working on it.
