Sue - That sounds like a lovely outing. I always feel so energised after something like that, even if it's tiring. Somehow it feels very 'grown up'. 😂 Good job!
Another day with no plans, apart from trundling a few yards up to the pharmacy to pick up BP meds. I also like the brand of floss they stock, so might get a few packets. I could go up with John, as he has a covid jab later this morning in the same place. Of course, my writing comes first. Nearly done. 😲
I have a new batch of yoghurt ready when I go downstairs to make a cup of tea. I have it on my breakfast every morning. Or rather, John puts it on for me, as he is in charge of breakfast. I might put some eggs in the IP for lunch. (I have two bowls, one non-stick) Dinner is the falafels that I bought yesterday, and hummus, on a Greek flatbread, with chopped salad bits, yoghurt, and chilli sauce for me. I could eat falafels and hummus almost every day of my life, but I think John would object. 😂 We do try to limit the amount of days we eat meat, though.
Thanks for the suggestions about my cabinet. I'm still pondering every option. I love the piece of furniture, just not right here, right now, in that dark orange colour. I wish I had a country kitchen to put it in. It's been a faithful companion, lovingly filled with antique china, for over fifty years, but it may have had its time with me. I am thinking of 'colour drenching' the whole room, built in cupboards, and ceiling in Farrow and Ball's 'Skimming Stone', and maybe picking out the picture rail and door surround in 'Elephant's Breath'. I told John I would be living in a mausoleum. 😅 I want a minimal look, with bright splashes of colour from my paintings and cushions etc. My bedside cupboard would need replacing. I hate it. The cupboard door opens the wrong way and the old catch is noisy and sticky. It annoys me every day. Plus, it's v old, and dark brown varnish.
UUnfortunately , my ambitions go beyond my non-existent budget. New curtains are on the agenda. Mine came with the house and the morning light floods through them. I have seen some on Amazon that will do. I will paint the mirror frame, because it's one of those very flattering mirrors, that take a size off! 😍
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx
PS - I'm not actually buying Farrow and Ball's paint. Johnstone 's trade paint will mix the exact same shade for half the price! Plus the painter gets a discount.

Up again, middle of the night. YouTube (who knows me too well for comfort) popped this up in my feed:
Mildly interesting - we've all heard it before, but knowing that a) it's normal for seniors was reassuring, and b) counting backward from 3s was new to me.Later, my dears…

Heather - There's a thing I've noticed as I've gotten older that I get very frustrated with heavy, massive things in general. I want lighter weight items so I can change things myself, without having to have help. It was very understandable for my mother, who lived alone, to use rattan furniture in her living room, because she was alone, and often didn't have the help. I've got the help, but live with a man who honestly loves heavy, massive pieces. So I end up surrounded by heavy items, but I couldn't sell them. Not because I would miss them, or it would upset him, but because nobody else wanted them!
Starting to get back to sleepy… good night again, my chicks…

Just ordered a long sleeve t-shirt from M&S. Their own range is extraordinarily cheap, and excellent quality. I can pick it up when I'm in town tomorrow. It's a boat neck, ((which suits me), dark stripe. For some reason I am really short on long-sleeved t-shirts. I must have thrown a lot away, and others deserve to be thrown out, but they are perfect for most of the summer in the UK. I'm not keen on short sleeves because I hate tan lines! 😛 I do have a few though, to wear under other things, or indoors. My arms are not fit to be seen out in public in sleeveless. 😱 This year, I am slowly adding a couple of long-sleeves that I am not ashamed to be seen in, though they have discontinued my favourite style. I hate it when they do that.🙄

Good Monday
Betsy- Hugs...just 🫂
Little walking this weekend, but got enough work paperwork done that I feel I can breath. Have a couple things to do today. Was nice to have a quiet weekend. It was wet and cold, so nice to be curled up on couch even if doing work.
Have a Baby shower for one of our friend's daughter coming up.
Oops, now it is Tueday.
Baby shower stuffs bought and awaiting delivery. Baby items sure have changed and gotten complicated!
Weight still a little high. I will get there. I reckon not a priority. After days (seems like weeks) of rain, the sun was nice yesterday. The problem is it is 26 degrees F outside!
Overall life is good. I am healthy, loved, able to move, and have many choices.
I am blessed to have you all in my life.
Hugs!
Healing thoughts!
Encouragement!
Congratulations!

Shoulder is OK.
Just tendonitis, bursitis and arthritis with a bone spur.
Full-on day today!!
Took car in for service.
So much work at work - audit going on.
Doctor appointment. And one odd thing … I got a notice from the library that a book I put on hold was in. Only, I don't really remember putting it on hold. I must have done but how long ago??? It's on Tasmanian Gardens so I picked it up. 🌿

Went out with John to the pharmacy and around the local shops, and really enjoyed it. Just nice to share a few moments. In the deli I said to the server, "It's a rare chance to see us together. " She laughed and said, "Yes, I was thinking you'd buried him under the patio!" In the butcher they were calling me 'love' and 'darling ', which I don't normally notice.
At the flower shop, they were selling very nice glass vases that had the tiniest chip on the rim that you could hardly see. I bought a thick, round one, for £1. !!!!
So, a good morning. 👍

😀 I'm enjoying a peaceful moment. Bessie is asleep on the carpet behind my chair and Annie is asleep on the back of the couch. I'm watching a video of "A Little Night Music" on You Tube. It is still dark. I'll take a shower then walk the dogs. I love walking in the dark but the dogs prefer daylight.

Morning, kiddos,
Slept in this morning, after being up for an hour and a half in the middle of the night. It all works out in the end.
On the health thing, As Terri noted, everything's working fine except my joints… I would like to be ten pounds lighter, but there have been a combined 7 months of my entire adulthood where I didn't want to be lighter out of the last, oh, 46 years. So there's that.
Worked out in the yard in the afternoon yesterday, felt so good to be working in the sunshine. Mornings are chilly, but afternoons are great. Spring has definitely sprung…
Working on a couple projects inside this morning, as usual. Need to get a video completed, among other things. Scripts done, time to get it recorded.
Love y'all!

We found a wonderful park in Waukeeshae. The women at the desk directed us there because there was also a dog park there. There were sculptures and this wonderful tribute to music because their was an performing arts building on the property. I love the expressions on the sculptures. Captures the joy of performing. We spent time with DH cousins. They have a wonderful lunch prepared for us of wild rice soup and a fresh salad. His wife also had been a Kindergarten teacher and we had fun talking about our favorite children authors. She had one I was not familiar with that was a cipher text. DS and I had fun figuring it out. It was about an old lady who was coming up with a potion for becoming young. We had to figure out all the things she added. When she got to S she forgot to add her smile. At the end her potion did not work. She concluded if she had remembered to add her smile it would have worked.
Reminds me that they had posted on the Freeways Kindness…Let the Frustration Go…Calm. Unfortunately it was sadly needed because Chicago has some of the worst traffic in the country. One of their major freeways is down from 4 to 2 lanes. Even on a weekend day a major challenge to drive!
I brought pictures and two boxes of all the research DH had down on his Civil War relative. There was a relative who is doing research on the family. I did ask son first if it was okay to pass it on. I was happy to pass it on because it is something that will just sit on a shelf for me. I could not in good conscience just toss the boxes because of all the time and effort DH had poured into the project. DS knows who has the material and if he changes his mind he can ask for it back. Two big boxes lighter!!!!

Happy Tuesday ladies!
Today is a dermatology appointment at 9:30 am. Yesterday I used my Gold Bond's body lotion for crepey skin from nose to toes! I would bathe in the stuff if I could!😂. Today was a quick shower. I know the doctors would prefer skin sans lotions or scents. Not like this lotion has a scent. It really sucks to not have a sense of smell.🙄. Course I did change about 5 messy diapers of Eli's and I was grateful to not have a sense of smell!
Its interesting to me that he knows so many sign language movements. From watching Ms. Rachel on YouTube. She is hypnotic! Every young child is drawn to her voice like a zombie baby. She teaches simple concepts along with SL. Eli uses the hand symbols for more, all done, hungry, and a couple others. He is definitely making sounds, mostly aaaaahhhhhh, and ehhhhh. No words just yet. He has said "Dadda Bye", but just the once my daughter inlaw said. Eli is 18 months old. He is understanding everything though, can point to all his body parts, even like his elbows and knees. One day his voice will click on and never stop.💖🤗
Yesterday I chatted on the phone with my girlfriend from Connecticut. The one I met when we were stationed in Japan in the 1980's. Her only brother passed away, and most of her friends have passed. Her son's family is literally 5 minutes away but with both of them working and my friend driving a school bus, they haven't gotten together since Christmas really. I find that incredibly sad. I told her she needs to have a chat with son, expressing that she's having a hard time. I am glad she reached out to me though. We have been thru almost 40 years of living, yet have never visited face to face since Japan. I on one coast, her on the other. Then before dinner I got a video call from my middle sister, a rarity! She looked well. She showed me all the puzzles she's been doing (she's the one in the basement of her own split level home), and plants she's planted off the slider door, her little sitting and smoking area, (though there's a huge cement patio off the kitchen upstairs). She's content though, and that's the important thing. She had a treadmill down there, but sold it because she never used it. I think it could have done her a world of good, but I am not her.
Might make tacos because its Taco Tuesday!😁

Hoping youngest here has a couple hours layover from his international flight to his flight to CA when he's at Sea-Tac airport! I told him to let me know, husband and I could just take the airporter, for hugs, maybe share some coffee, and I would bring a container of my fried rice!💖

Nine pages in already … 😲 Welcome to the new ladies!
Barbie … Thank you for moving us into April.
Lisa … a belated Happy Birthday!
Heather … I like the cabinet but would be tired of that color as well. I've never had any luck painting furniture, but these other gals have good ideas.
I do not know if my weight changed or not from March to April. The scale is buried at the moment due to our bathroom renovation. Which, by the way, is taking an inordinately long time. My husband's back is not holding up well with this project … I might have mentioned this to him prior to starting. A full bathroom gut to the studs… and he's doing all the work himself. We've needed to take a lot of breaks for his back to recover, but are now about 3/4 of the way through tiling the shower stall. It will be beautiful, but the choice of 12x24 inch tiles has created its own installation challenges. Once the tiling is complete, I think the project should pick up steam. It's a very small bathroom. I'll be glad when it's done because the house is a train wreck with everything out of place. Amazing how disruptive a remodel project can be.
Hugs to all.

Oh my heck… one of the things I do NOT like about springtime is Egg's penchant for bringing snakes inside. Luckily (so far) only brown snakes, but this one was almost a foot long, maybe a third grown. I saw her playing with a fabric scrap on the floor, not something she usually pays attention to at all… and a snake was curled up under it. She hides her toys under rugs or whatever's available. 🐍
I don't even bother getting a tupperware to catch them anymore. 🪤 I just used the fabric scrap to pick it up by the tail. Figured out last year that Egg would just bring them back inside if she knew where I threw them. Now I go to one door, and she bails out of it to get ahead of me and find her toy. Then I walk to another door and pitch it out that one.
She'll figure that trick out eventually, but it's least effort for the best result, which is getting the blinking thing out of my house. She just came back in and is searching for it.
Gah.
Exercise is done, video's done, dishes are swooshing, and the temperature is inching up. Will give it another half hour to let lunch and meds settle and get outside and get a few things done. Have to take off my nice shirt and find a workshirt.
Later, my chicks,

I asked the painter for an estimate for the dresser. Sanding, two coats, and a wax finish.
£80.
Can you believe it! That's not much more than a decent meal out for the two of us. I have accepted the estimate, of course.
I will do it with the same emulsion as the walls, with added Polyfilla to make it a chalk finish. Hooray!

Ginny - wishing you all the best for a successful surgery tomorrow and easy recovery. Will there be a visiting nurse or someone to check in with you for the first couple days? Sounds like you have everything ready to go from your end.
Allie - Sorry you are under the weather. Does Dan, Tracy or anyone check in on you each day to make sure you have meals/food if needed or if a trip is needed to pick up a prescription?
You ladies have been through surgeries before so I bet you've pre-planned as much as possible.
I'd probably be OK for recuperating from most things by myself here - might need someone to fill the chicken water and feeder, but that's not an everyday thing if push comes to shove. And I always make sure I have at least a week's worth of food in the fridge and freezer.
PT kind of beat me up yesterday….. but in a good way. The dry needling - I can't tell any major improvement today, maybe 2%, lol. I have a lot more exercises to get going on this afternoon. Something new since I had PT for my back over a decade ago is stretch bands around ankles or just under my knees, then walking with these types of restraint. Think I mentioned this before. Therapist added a new one, and said this kind of exercising (which I think is strengthening my hips/glutes?) would help me the most.

Allie: rest friend, your body is telling you to sloow down.
Well the dermatologist appt went ok, he found one mark on my right arm that he took a biopsy from, sprayed a mark on my right eyebrow area, and is prescribing a hormone cream for my skin around my chin and jawline. He said many ladies my age have noticed less hair and need for plucking. Its called spirenolactone. Being that it could mess with my blood pressure, and I am already on lisinopril for my blood pressure, I need to pay attention to how I feel. I have informed my primary doctor about it and sent him a note. I am starting clobatisol, a steroid cream, for my hands to help with my nails. He said my toes and bottoms of my feet looked excellent. Which is interesting as I have yet to get a pedicure in months. I do put coconut oil on my feet every week though.
Came home and made tacos for husband and I.💖🤗

Hi,
Michelle,I get protective and I didn't want those guys taking advantage of your kindness. I am still a little salty with my last contractors. I am so glad they are doing their job. I thought the stump removal guy was another referral. So, I didn't connect the two. I am glad this company exist, because it is hard to get a job after being incarcerated. If these guys don't get a chance they tend to feel defeated and go back to a life of crime. Thank you for being so supportive of this business.
As for aerobics of any kind, I miss it and plan to go to my doctor and see what is wrong with my hip. I rested it for over a month and it continues to get stiff. I don't think I will be doing the 5K this year. So, I will look into PT.
Allie, Sending hugs and I hope you feel better soon. Just know that we all don't bounce back as fast as you want. Don't feel guilty for feeling tired. Your body is fighting a battle inside, and you are on meds to prevent you immune system from battling the new kidney. That alone takes a lot of energy. So, if you are tired go with it and rest.
Carol, Thank you for your kind words.
Debbie, My best friend Baby Suko, is going through this with her mom. They finally found a home where these Japanese ladies are running it. She does not feel so lonely anymore and she is getting really good care. I am happy about that, because Mrs. Hashimoto was like one of the mothers watching over me when I was growing up. Mrs. Hashimoto wants to go home but no one can stay to give her the 24 hour care she needs. She is 91, and has a heart condition that Kaiser is trying to figure out how to treat it. At least now she likes the food where she is. This is a big feat for your DH to accept that she isn't coming home. Now you all must declutter and donate(IF DH is ready). Just know, I have some ugly lamps in my living room that belonged to my DH's grandmother. He was appalled, when he found out that I was giving them away. So, good luck with that ;).
Heather, I love your new cabinet. It looks like a fun project if you choose to strip and re-stain.
Sue, sometimes when I go to listen to the symphony, the music is so soul stirring that it brings tears to my eyes. I am so glad you got to get out to enjoy some brilliant compositions.
Today me and DH went to the Cheesecake Factory. I love to get the Santa Fe Salad there. I also had some appetizers of brussel sprouts with bacon and maple syrup, and potstickers, which was delicious. DH had a work call and left me alone for 40 minutes, while he was in his car conducting business. Then he had the gift card I got from work for $100.00 to pay for it. I was tempted to pay for it and go look for him. Instead I texted him. He finally came back and was shocked that I had his food boxed up. I was kind of embarrassed. I am as full as a tick on a hound. I didn't even have the Cheesecake yet. It is in the fridge. I had a great time in the beginning of our date at least.

While at work today got a call from C. He’s going to have someone here this afternoon to take out the stumps. He’s also going to have someone come by to look at the deck.
I guess you could say that I’m a bit upset that BK hired this non-English speaking person who evidently is doing prep (since that seems to be the only thing she can do, and she doesn’t put dates on things) and they’ve cut me down from 5 days to 4. She uses Google translate so where is the incentive to learn English? To me, if I was going to live in a foreign country, I’d learn the language. I did something today that will most likely backfire on me. I told the one gal that I needed Easter Sunday off since I’d made a commitment to lector at the church. I really didn’t, I lector the next week. But Spanish people seem to go to church on Sunday. Yet, there are a lot of Hispanics at the Saturday mass. I told them that I’m more than willing to work on Sat, that perhaps she could do Sunday and I’ll do Sat. Since they can’t really talk to her, I suspect they’re going to continue to have her work on Sat. I’ve already texted the store manager to see if they could increase me again to 5days. So far she hasn’t gotten back to me. She was quick to cut my hours, tho. I do enjoy the job, don’t get me wrong. And I do things like text the store manager when we’re low on something (like plastic wrap) and change the veggie wash (then have to test it to be sure that it’s coming thru correctly). I’m just getting frustrated that they take hours away from me to give to this gal. I totally understand them wanting someone as a backup for me. But to take my hours? Maybe I’m being petty. But I do enjoy the job.
Lisa– I find that the older I get, the more I want lighter things too –like dishes. I really don’t want ceramic dishes, I want Corelleware.
Mo– np at all. I know how hard it is after being incarcerated. A lot of people won’t give you a chance. This is an organization that helps people get back into society under supervision. They don’t charge much, but tips are appreciated. Oh, I got out a step DVD (I think it’s Cathe’s) but it’s shorter than Gin Miller’s that I have so I think I’ll start with that one. Isn’t it amazing how much you lose in a short time if you don’t keep up with exercising??
The guy about the stump removal just got here. I am under the impression that the removal is included in the price we paid C. I didn’t realize that he’d had a stroke. I know that many times he says things like “I just can’t remember any more” (like phone numbers, addresses, etc) and I just attributed it to the fact that he© isn’t a spring chicken anymore, but it turns out that this is probably a side effect of the stroke
Called C and told him that the deck guy never came or called.

Took MIL's dog to the vet for his yearly check up. They were surprised that he has lost weight. First time for him to loose any. Went from 26 to 21 since they saw him last time. They were happy. Said he is no longer overweight- I told them it is from the twice daily walks. It is also because I changed his food so no more people food(like bacon, cheese, chicken and vanilla ice cream that MIL gave him daily)
He is such a happy dog now. Loving having the kids over there to keep him company.Heading to my friends to help again with a sewing project- they don't know much about sewing. They are making covers for the traps they use to catch feral cats for the spay/neuter clinics they volunteer with.

I understand your frustration, Michele. But learning a second language isn't that easy. Especially if you are trying to learn it as an adult. Using Google translate might even be good for her, double checking what she's hearing and making sure there's no confusion.
The parents of my youngest son's girlfriend speak little to no English. They understand more than they can speak. My great grandparents came to this country already well into their 40s. They spoke only German for the rest of their lives, even though they ended up living in the US for another 30-40 years. So I would try to cut her some grace.
Cutting your hours is another issue. Have you tried to have a frank conversation with the manager about why they cut your hours? Without bringing up the other staff member, I mean.
Allie -- I'm feeling for you, too. I know it's hard to be patient, but you can do this.
I was rear-ended yesterday afternoon while waiting at a stop light. The guy and the way his car was loaded, with tarps strapped to the top, seemed homeless. The car he was driving, not his according to the registration, was not drivable; the airbags deployed. His passenger fled the scene. The driver apologized and told me he was not licensed to drive, nor did he carry insurance. "You aren't going to call the cops, are you?" I did, of course. He was so nervous, and I thought for sure he was also going to run, but I give him credit for sticking around. He was very kind and polite. The officer cited him, gave me a copy of the report for my insurance company, and I left.
I was curious about the driver all night. His address on the report seemed suspicious. I googled it this morning, and that confirmed what I thought. The address was for a homeless advocacy group that helps homeless people find housing. Made me sad for him. He likely totaled the car he was driving, all of his belongings were towed away, and he got cited. I mean, I get it; it was his fault totally, but I still feel so much sympathy for people whose lives are a mess. Made my inconvenience caused by the accident insignificant in comparison. I wasn't hurt; my car is drivable; I have insurance. It is also possible that the owner of the car was insured. A policy was listed on the report.
Still, upsetting to be slammed into while just waiting behind 6-7 other cars waiting for the light to turn. Thankfully, I have the habit of keeping at least one car length between me and the car in front of me, and the light turned, so I didn't hit the car in front of me. Thank God. I thought for sure I was going to.
Cars are replaceable or repairable. Lives sometimes aren't, so I've been sending lots of prayers up for the other driver today.

Hi Gals,
Heather – that piece is big but I think you have a some good ideas on how to keep the great amount of storage yet have it blend better in the room.
Betsey – sending hugs, so much at once.
Allie – remember slow and consistent won the race….
Lisa – hoping all the snakes stay outside!
Pip – you are amazing, I’d just let someone else win….
Debbie – How old is MIL’s dog? Glad to hear the vet is happy with he’s weight.
Things here are fine… I still have a cough from the cold I got in October. So I finally made a doctors appointment, its in a couple of weeks… I am just tired of coughing, it is just in the transition from being up to going to bed or from bed to being up (I am not a napper)
I finally got all my tax info collected, the accounting software all filled out and everything printed and to the folks who do my taxes….I am late again this year! I have to make it a priority next year to get everything in before March…
I’m working with a friend to figure out how to tighten up my schedule and both be more efficient and where I should be charging more, as I am working too many hours and not making enough. Either 4 hours off a week for me time, and/or an extra $100 a week would make my world easier. – The 4 hours would spend in my garden growing food so that would help with the cash flow too.
Hoping for peaceful times for each of us.
Thinking of you all,
Kim in N. California
