Heather - with the other colours you’re going to have going in your room that may look nice with a darker stain. I agree with you on the orange though. I’ve been working at getting it out of my house. I have a couple more stain projects in the plan for this summer.
What a great deal.Allie - I hope you’re being driven to all of these things.
Rebecca - my daughter used sign language with the grands when they were young. It was fun conversing with them. Those second children sure do seem to take longer to get chatty/
Lisa - I don’t know how I would handle snakes. You’re braver than I.
Mo - when I injured my hip I was told to rest it but my doctor and a couple of physiotherapists. Turns out it walking and movement that really got me out of the mess. It was just a slow buildup. She had me build strength by using the bands like Lanette mentioned, but we started out at just a couple minutes at a time a couple times daily. Gradually we increased it. I was told to never sit or stand for more than 20 minutes at a time and I do feel it when I overdo it still.
Flea - I totally agree about learning a second language. I’ve had lots of staff over the years that were ESL and the more patience we had the better they did. It must be terrible arriving someplace that you don’t understand.
Thankful no one was hurt in your accident.I fear the homeless population is going to continue to grow. 😥My friend left this evening. It was a nice visit. I’m felt bad for her as her brother and son both didn’t make it a priority to see her. Her son picked her up this evening to take her out for supper before taking her to the airport. That was the only time they saw each other.
She did spend the night at her brother’s Sunday night.Tracey in Edmonton

Kim- Kobe is about 7 I think. They aren't sure. He was one or two when she got him from the shelter. He is so much happier. He is so excited to go back in the house now when we are done walking.
I am going to miss our walks when the kids start taking care of him completely but I can go over when ever and walk him.The 4hrs/$100 sounds like a great plan.

I wrote the last 500 words of my book this morning, in a sudden burst of energy! 🤩 I then posted on Instagram, so, anyone who follows me, please give me a like. 💋 I will love you to the moon and back.
This afternoon, i have a meeting of My Death My Decision in The Lanes in Brighton. Then I'm going to meet up with John in the M&S café. We will pick up my tee-shirt and mooch about until it's time for early dinner, then French Circle. It's a lecture on Josephine Baker. 🤩 If we get out in time, I intend to pick up a few of our favourite foods before we get the bus. M&S closes at 8 pm. Might have a look at Easter things earlier for the grandchildren.
Hair washing now. Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx

I guess you could say that I’m a bit upset that BK hired this non-English speaking person who evidently is doing prep (since that seems to be the only thing she can do, and she doesn’t put dates on things) and they’ve cut me down from 5 days to 4. She uses Google translate so where is the incentive to learn English? To me, if I was going to live in a foreign country, I’d learn the language. I did something today that will most likely backfire on me. I told the one gal that I needed Easter Sunday off since I’d made a commitment to lector at the church. I really didn’t, I lector the next week. But Spanish people seem to go to church on Sunday. Yet, there are a lot of Hispanics at the Saturday mass. I told them that I’m more than willing to work on Sat, that perhaps she could do Sunday and I’ll do Sat. Since they can’t really talk to her, I suspect they’re going to continue to have her work on Sat. I’ve already texted the store manager to see if they could increase me again to 5days. So far she hasn’t gotten back to me. She was quick to cut my hours, tho. I do enjoy the job, don’t get me wrong. And I do things like text the store manager when we’re low on something (like plastic wrap) and change the veggie wash (then have to test it to be sure that it’s coming thru correctly). I’m just getting frustrated that they take hours away from me to give to this gal. I totally understand them wanting someone as a backup for me. But to take my hours? Maybe I’m being petty. But I do enjoy the job.
If you have an issue with your employer reducing your hours, take it up with your manager. Don't be racist — taking your frustrations out on the girl because she isn't an English-speaking US person. She didn't steal your job or do anything bad to you.
Maybe they decided to reduce your days because you took a month off to go to Florida. When I worked in the food service industry way back when in Canada, I could never have taken a month off (or anything more than a week!) and expect to have a job when I came back. But you won't know until you ask.
Have you tried to learn a new language? It can be quite challenging! And apparently English is one of the harder languages to learn. Google Translate is a good tool.
Amusing thing on that … my office is wonderfully multicultural. One of the ladies I work with is Chinese and she has been learning a little bit of French. She was pleased to discover that I know a little French, so we exchange a few words now and then. ☺️

On hip pain …
I find that my right hip (which does have a bit of arthritis) hurts more when
- I sit in chairs for long periods of time
- I sit in bed in a reclined position with my legs stretched out in front of me
- I lie in bed on my right side
- I sit in my van with the seat a little bit low or a little bit reclined.
I've been making a point of getting up and moving if I have been sitting for an hour or so.
And I have raised my seat in my van so it's more like a chair. I'm also sitting more upright.
But I have had to lie on my right side because I can't lie on my left side because of my shoulder. I think my body needs to get itself together and have issues on one side or the other, not mixing and matching like this.
Fortunately, walking helps.

Flea I do the same thing and for the same reason you do. (Leaving at least a car length between me and the car ahead of me) When driving on interstate I leave 3 car lengths. My car will actually have a yellow car appear in the dashboard if I am too close to the vehicle in front of me. I believe such driving saved us on our trip a few times.
We went to a Brewer's game and had seats in bleachers behind home plate. Lo and behold at the very top of the stadium is a statue of Bob Uker. A bonus to get a picture with the statue! Great game Brewer's won 1-0. It was a pitchers game and we could see all the balls and strikes from where we sat!
It was son's choice to go. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I am not a big professional sport fan! It was just fun to go with him!

Morning, my chickens,
Working on a piece that has had me stumped, but I realized my roadblock, now I just have to move forward. I just remind myself that it all helps my brain stay engaged and active.
Just let Egg outside 🐈⬛🐾- she won't stay out long, because it's still only about 45 out there (7C) and she doesn't love the cold like she used to. The cool mornings and warm afternoons are stretching out for the next two weeks, and everything is going to grow like crazy in this verdant, lovely Arkansas spring. Of course, by the end of the two weeks, they'll be waffling on about a drought again, but that's life in Arkansas as well.
Corey, bless him, went down to the little stable and got my lawn tractor for me after dinner.
Boring stuff on what it takes to work on a big place: TL;DR - Lots and lots of yardwork.
Corey had put the big machines in the stable for the winter to keep them under cover, like the tiller and the walk-behind string trimmer.
Just for me, though, he dragged out my little riding lawn mower that I use for a tractor, got the battery charged up and put back on and brought it AND the trailer I use to haul stuff around the yard up to the carport for me. Plus put all the gas we had available in the tank. Did all that after dinner.
He knows I really don't like to go down to the stable, because when you walk in, things moooove around in the darkness. Every bug in creation comes through for parties, and heaven only knows what rodents are making their home in there.
Since there's no light, and it's always in shade, I just start hopping around like an ant on a hot rock and making whiny noises like "I don't wannnnna!" and get the heck outta there.
And the "stable" by the way, is just we call it, it might have been big enough for one horse. A fairly small one. Room for lots of… other things, though.
It's one of four outbuildings that were here when we got here - and it's probably the oldest. We had to tear one down, and one of the others is on the list to tear down as well. Not built well, and rotting from the ground up.
The groundhog that lives under that one will not be happy, but I tipped about the last half gallon of rodent repellent in both of its entries yesterday and hopefully it will move out anyway. If I didn't already say, the rodent repellent is mostly peppermint oil based and my whole house smells like a giant pack of gum, at least on the outside now.
That's because I did all the spray things yesterday afternoon - rodent repellent on both vehicles as well as the entire perimeter of the house. Home Defense insect barrier, as well, to hopefully keep the spider and bug population from taking over the house.
And weed killer - a very, very small amount in places we can't get equipment to, but that can't stay choked with weeds, like driveway culverts. We use it very sparingly, but this country grows EVERYthing to the point where you have to do something, or it will take back over in a single season.
Today I'll continue tearing down fences once it's warm enough to work outside. I'll use the lawn tractor and trailer to haul off what I get yanked up - it's all chain link, and I have a chain and lever built specially to pull posts like that.
I genuinely don't like chain link anyway, so it's very satisfying. It is very useful fencing, but I've never seen anyone make it look beautiful. I've got vinca covering up the bottom half of it down the 600 feet of fence along the west side of the yard, but there's still chain link above it.
Still, I'm much handier at tearing things down than building things, which was why Corey brought my lawn tractor and little trailer up for me.
I was also able to put my potting table together and get it set up in the carport (it's a BIG carport with just my Kicks in there - 20 x 24 feet). Now all my gloves and yard tools can stay in the same place.
Lanette - You might enjoy that, not sure who else will! 😁 It got very long!
Flea - So glad you're OK. I admire that kindness and charity you give to others more than I can even express.
And… time to go get a couple gallons of gas for the mower and some bias tape that I need for this project. Hematologist call in a couple hours, then I can get outside!
Love y'all!

Up early, worrying about youngest son traveling soon. We were thinking of traveling to Sea-Tac airport to see him after his international flight and hopefully spend some time with him before his continuing flight to San Diego, but he probably isn't on Facebook Messenger until he get settled into San Diego. He's not one to phone me on departure, or even getting some place, unlike my eldest that takes photos of the plane, calls me when he leaves and when the plane touches down. So we probably won't see him. He's a nervous traveler since his diagnosis.

Went early yesterday to talk to the owners of the campground that wants to hire use. We were all set to start when she says ‘I hope the lack of a bathroom won’t be a problem’. Well for me it is. I never know when colitis will show its ugly head. Did the day before at the PO. I had to do a dash into the first restaurant I saw then had to change clothes. That was still fresh in my mind when she said the bathroom thing, telling me I would have to go outside to use the park bathroom as there was not one in the office. Oh, well, with that, DH and I decided to take a 2 week vacation when we leave here, then head back here for the next 6 months. At that time, hope to purchase a newer RV or get an apartment. Change is my word for the year and I’ve had enough change in just these past 4 months!
Lanette, I love the sign! I wanted one for this park as soon as I read it, but know these people, they would never let me put that up.
Heather, I read your Inta post and liked it! Must feel good to finish something like that. I’ve tried to write books several times in my life, but just never finished any of them. Proud of you and will buy your new one, when it comes out!
Snakes, Thanks for reminding me, I need to warn campers about them coming out now. I don’t do snakes, I would never touch a wild one. I have touched a boa before that a person had draped over his neck walking down a sidewalk once. He later was cited by police and told not to do that any more. Too many people are REALLY scared of snakes and complained about him ‘walking’ his snake.
Today, DH and I go for physicals at new doc. The last appointment was simply the meet and greet appointment. DH is grumpy about that. Did I tell you all that my DS is back in rehab again? This time the facility is very open about including family in the recovery process. Well, at least DS’s nearest relative (me). I am able to better encourage DS having the information they are providing on Mental and substance disorders.
Thoughts for today (and yesterday):
How do you organize a party in space?
You planet!
There was an old woman who lived in a shoe.
If you put the other shoe on top of hers, would it be called a shoplex?
Have a great day,

Flea– I know learning another language as an adult isn’t all that easy. I tried to learn Polish many years ago. My problem was that there wasn’t anyone around me who spoke Polish. She has people around her who speak English (I would think). So she would be exposed to it every day. I don’t know. I did talk to the store mgr today. Seems she can only work on Thurs Fri and Sat since those are the days she has a babysitter. So not working Easter Sunday did backfire on me. Well, I want to go to church anyway (that’s one of the two time/year Vince goes with me) and then make dinner for Jess and Colby. So there’s a silver lining to my “fib”. The store mgr said that she would try to think of something for me to do. I’m thinking “why not give me Thurs and Fri and she only do prep on Sat and Sun?”. The store mgr told me that she couldn’t just have the gal do the bacon (the only other thing she can do) since that doesn’t take much time. Personally, I’d have her do things like dishes, washing the walls. If she can only do prep and bacon on Sat and Sun, that might be an incentive to learn English and maybe get another job. But yet, from the store mgr’s perspective I can understand her not wanting to encourage the girl to learn English. What a sad situation! We shall see what the future brings. Maybe she’ll learn some English on her own (I think that would be great for her)
My grandparents came to this country not knowing English, too. But they assimilated. I bet your great grandparents assimilated, too. That’s what they did back then.
I’m sorry you were rear ended. What a pain! So glad you weren’t hurt. Yes, my heart goes out to people in need. That’s one of the reasons I volunteer at the soup kitchen. It’s so heartbreaking to see children coming in not wearing shoes in the middle of winter. It’s sad when I see people who have come for years. I can only hope that they have a minimum-wage job and are using this to supplement what they earn
Kim– we just sent in our tax return for the state of NC. We’ll get back a whopping $2...lol Now income tax is another story……
Off to the church to pick up donations for the soup kitchen then probably Aldi.

Michele - Perhaps the woman you're working with is trying to feed her kids with that money and desperately needs every minute of paid time she can get. If your manager knows that's the situation, she may be giving the person who needs it most the hours. Just a thought. I certainly don't know the situation there.

Well Photos arrived from one cousin.💖 It was a memorable time, and my aunt would've been proud of our family. So many young kids, its strange to think of us elders as the matriarchs and patriarchs of this family. I looked at all the kids and remembered us all playing like that, holding hands etc. Cousins are truly special.
Expecting more photos from other cousins.🙃💖

This was a past reunion. My dear maternal grandmother and some of the grandkids. Like the past photo of one of the cousins and I, her and I are here in the solid blue outfits. My middle sister the tallest, and the blonde cousin with way too short hair, she was in attendance too, standing next to my eldest sister at the church photo.💖

Lisa - I'm so jealous of all the outside work you are accomplishing, I could just spit. 😁😁 It was rainy, chilly (high of 52F) and windy here yesterday. When I get some clear weather, I need to spray around the greenhouse and behind the shop. And resume mowing. Kind of a hazy sun out there right now, nearly 60F already so will be able to work outside a little and get the little pots ready for tomato transplanting. Much to wet to mow. Maybe this weekend.
Rita - great idea to take a 2 week vacation then head back to the park and resume your prior plan for eventually getting a newer RV or apartment. Change is hard, at least for me. Sometimes a vacation away is good for clearing the cobwebs and helping refocus.
Flea - very thankful you weren't injured and that the police came to write up the accident. Scary that people without licenses, proper training or roadworthy vehicles are allowed on the road. That's another reason I like to head to town real early before the world wakes up. This morning - it was around 8:30 - I followed a car which was doing 20 on a 30 mph street and was swerving across the center line of oncoming traffic. Kind of early to hit the bottle but perhaps they'd had a breakfast beer or three to steel their nerves. 😮
Rebecca - love the photos! Beautiful family and you're right, Athena does look like a younger version of you! I hope your son lets you know as soon as he arrives in San Diego. I bet it feels good having him stateside again.
Michele - I would be concerned about her language barrier as well, because it's a potential safety issue - I wonder if she understands when someone tries to warn her about a spill that hasn't been cleaned up yet …. or if she is able to warn others about it if she causes a spill. Or if she is using equipment she hasn't been trained for and people assume she's been trained and she slices off a finger or causes someone else to be injured. Those are logical concerns because of the language barrier, nothing racist about it. In an emergency, there's no time to wait for a translation. A supervisor needs to be on top of these things, and seems like your BK has a history of letting things slide.
Does anyone at there speak her native language - a co-worker or supervisor? It's nice that Google can help translate and I hope it helps her learn English quicker. Being able to practice what she learns in real life should help her a lot, as you pointed out. BK is nice to try to accommodate her and I wish her success.
Ginny - you are in my thoughts and prayers. (((HUGS)))
PT went fine this morning - I've been "released" to do SWSY with free weights and ankle weights. The therapist today gave me a lot of great tips on how to modify some of the exercises. He said fine to use heavy ankle weights and don't worry if I can't do 2 sets or 8 reps. He said use heavy enough weights to be able to do 5 or 6 reps, then stop - basically go to fatigue. Don't push. He had me doing Farmer's Carry too, carrying a 5# weight on one side. And OK to use the weighted vest. As always, if something hurts - stop immediately.
I was down a pound and a half this morning, so things are heading back in the right direction. 😁

Lanette,
Yep I had sent him a message to let me know if he had a layover between his international flight and his flight to San Diego. But then pondering the fact that he's kind of a nervous traveler, he would be just hankering to get to his gate, so I deleted the message. I didn't want him to worry about trying to meet up with us. He will be home soon enough.😁💖

Lanette - I forget, working in the yard, how much of the exercise at the beginning of the season is just finding the stuff you need to do what needs done! Especially when there's another person in the mix who (whispering behind her hand 🫱🏻) tends to leave things in the building nearest where he used them last! With four different places where he can leave things, I ALWAYS guess wrong. Here it is 3 p.m., and I hit my 7500 steps an hour ago, and probably 5000 of those were going to find another tool. Two solid hours of work after noon, and I might have gotten 15 feet of fence detached. Not pulled down, I might add, just pulled apart. But I am wiped out.
The last time I used the fencepost puller was five years ago, I was about 60 pounds heavier and had two good shoulders (you pull down a lever that's above your head). Those two things make more difference than I would have believed this morning. Frustrating. Not the galloping never get overs, but I really need to think about how to exert leverage in better ways than just using my body.
Oh - and the 10 a.m. call with the hematologist was good. They're pretty happy with my results. My iron/hemoglobin/ferritin, red blood cells and white blood cells are all in normal ranges, but did go down a bit from last time, so they want to run the full blood tests in six months to make sure this single morning dose is keeping me where I should be.
Later, my babies,
Love,
Lisa in AR3 -
Lisa - Are you trying to pull out T-posts? I have a couple half rotted 4x4's that were grapevine support I was trying to "rock out" along with their cement bases last weekend. I need to save that for the "guys" since my arm muscles have gone south.
Oh, and I have the same problem finding things - wondering where I put them last fall, lol. No one to blame but me, Rosie and the hens. At least I'm not putting milk in the cupboard yet.😁 Better go check, come to think of it, lol.
Great news on the labs. Now go put your feet up!
Lanette 😎
