Mournjaro & Diabetes Type 2

This is the first day I'm logging my journey.
I was 21stone 6lbs (300lbs) on 11th March 2025. This is the heaviest I've been. I've battled mental health, social phobia, anxiety, depression, agoraphobia. This alongside arthritic knees, living in a static caravan for a year (not my choice, but my family & I did what we had to do to keep some kind of roof over our heads).
I've been a diabetic since 2006, was placed on oral medication which helped for a while, but then my glucose went higher and higher. I didn't really have a clue what I was supposed to be eating. So naturally my diabetes was somewhat erratic, I kept asking for advice and help, but my doctors surgery kept changing 'locums' and none stayed long enough to work with me & my situation. In 2012, I was put on Insulin, at 20 units, morning and dinner time. In January this year, I was exceeding 80 units in the morning and at dinner time! My sugar levels were extremely out of control, I felt tired all the time for no reason, I'd wake up, feeling like I needed to go back to sleep. That's even after a 12 hour sleep!
I was Thankfully, we moved into a lovely bungalow in Feb this year, and I finally found a great doctors surgery, with a diabetes nurse who is also a diabetic herself - which was a major gamechanger for me. She put me on Mounjaro, a new slimming injection. My first 3 weeks, I was on a 2.5mg dose, once a week. This week, she has upped my dosage to 5mg, once a week. When she weighed me this week, Tuesday to be precise, I weighed in at 19stone 8lbs (274lbs)!!!
My exercise has gone up, I was just taking my dog (a chocolate pug, called Suki), for a 10 minute walk, once a day. I was partly using the excuse that she only has little legs, so can't walk far. Boy how I was wrong. Today, we went for our usual after lunch walk, half of it uphill (something I couldn't do before), we just got back a few minutes ago, and my Fitbit has recorded a 46 minute walk - my lovely little Suki power walked her way up those hills, had a few minutes rest at the top, and happily trotted down the other side! Admittingly, she is asleep now, but she really did well, I'm proud of her just as much as I am of myself. In just a month, I have turned my lazy backside into a power walking machine! Mounjaro has really helped to stop me feeling hungry, I don't even think about all the unhealthy foods I used to crave so badly, and the best part…I'm back to 20 units of insulin morning and dinner time. I'm hoping to come off the insulin soon and put my diabetes in remission.
I'm actually eating more now than I did before, but it's mainly protein instead of all those nasty carbs! I've also just announced to my husband and our son, that I will be taking Suki for an after dinner 15 minute walk each day as of tonight, and also a 15 minute walk after breakfast each morning.
I really never thought I would feel this great in just a month, what a huge difference it makes when you get the right combination of medical help.
Thanks for reading my long post!

That's great! I'm proud of you for the walking! I've read it's one of the best exercises for diabetics. I recently starting a walking regimen myself. I'm glad you were able to find the medical help you needed. Keep up the good work!

Love this! I was diagnosed two days ago since my AC1 finally tested over the limit. Dr started me on Ozempic (first dose today) to get it back down so hoping my experience is the same!
