Rita - I love your new doctor! With your A1C of 5.9, she's not overly concerned, and "just watch the carbs" is exactly how Dr. Lisa approaches this too. There are several factors determining what exactly is pre-diabetes. I think just staying on top of being as healthy as we can without overtraining on one particular aspect (for example, A1C MUST be at 5.7 or below, BMI MUST be in the "normal" category, we must NEVER eat sugar again - those type of rigid rules that can set us up for failure) is a sensible way to look at it. That said, I need to take my own advice here. I can easily slip into the doldrums from a little weight gain or sugar/carb overage. I need to get up, dust off, focus on the positive and count my blessings health-wise.

Just saw the notice about Brownie. Many hugs - we love them and worry about them so. I know Brownie's loss will leave a big hole for a while.

Mo - thank you for sharing those pictures! You and Horace have great smiles that light up a room. Safe travels back home! It looks like we're getting a little of that sun here in my area today, but everything is still so soggy. I just can't wait to complain it's "too hot" when it's over 75F, lol.

Ginny - thank you so much for checking in with us. We are in your pocket sending gentle hugs and prayers for a quick recovery and good results.

As I think about you and your upcoming retirement, I realize that we in this group eventually grow apart from our daily routines and work families and friends but it's amazing how the ladies in this group are always here for each other through time. So glad you are with us!๐Ÿ˜

Beth - good to hear the end of the bathroom project is in sight. I'm sure it will be spectacular once it's all done. Pictures?

Heather - how interesting that Bea is now GF. Does she have severe digestive issues? So many food allergies and sensitivities these days. Makes a person wonder if it's due to the strain of wheat now being raised, the chemicals and fertilizers used on them or what?! Glad there are alternatives. Good luck!

Lisa - you are getting to be such a natural on your channel. ๐Ÿ˜€ I see you've posted many since I watched last. They used to come up in my YT feed but for some reason didn't anymore. Who knows. I love that Egg likes to join in. If you ever run out of topics, I'd love to hear more about how Egg came into your lives, different places you and Corey have lived and what you liked about them, scary adventures with good endings, people you've known in your life that have had a positive influence and whyโ€ฆ.that type of thing. Some of the fasted growing channels I watch these days are plain storytelling, often with a surprising twist. Maybe you've been doing that, I really need to go back and catch up.

Kim - hope you are feeling better! Sounds like you have a busy day today with your mom.

Better get this posted before it's the end of the day. Which happens often.

Ginny ~ Glad you are home again! You have been through more than most could endure so pray for your successful healing.

Vicki ~ We are all rooting for you as you start the new job! I am sure you will be a great fit.

Lisa ~ Sorry about your bad dream. I have been dreaming a lot lately and it's like being in a story that you see but don't understand.

Kylia and Michelle ~ Know you are loving your fat kitties! Wish I had one.

I have ordered a Honey Baked Ham and Turkey roast to carry to my DnL's mom's for Easter! She has been so good about having us for holidays over the last few years. Our house is packed with all the stuff my husband has accumulated as he settles his BnL's estate and with his tendency to hoard after seeing too many Youtubes about survival during a pandemic. The piles do not bother my DH at all so I will just live with it.

Tracey - I've been meaning to comment on your graciousness in entertaining your friend when she came to visit. Was she sad about not spending a lot of time with family? I'm sure it did her a lot of good to catch up with you. I know if it were me, I'd leave your house jazzed at all of the crafts you do and from seeing the gorgeous part of Canada you live in.

Vicki - so excited for you! I know you'll be an asset to that job. Remember, we'll be in your pocket!

Lisa - welcome back to Britbox. I enjoyed the latest season of Father Brown and especially the latest season of Death in Paradise. I think I watched the final episode of the new season a few days ago. Is Corey looking at a Kubota?

Ginny - glad the doctor put in the stitch and plugged the leak. Of all things! I know it's good to be home and you'll have helpers stopping by. Rest up and here's to a good recovery.

Tina - glad your DH is up and walking a bit. I am also not a fan of trip planning. Going on trips when we're older is more complicated than when we were 20 and didn't need to know where all the bathrooms are, lol.

Heather - glad your son flew up to see his dad and that you were able to communicate with him. How's your brother doing?

Sue - how aggravating about your oven. Sometimes I think the world would be a better place if they'd just have left computers in towers and laptops and out of appliances and vehicles we depend on.

Michele - I swear, you do more in one day than I do all week.

Allie - very sorry to hear you are having problems, and hope you are feeling better today (and that insurance covers that horrible lab fee!)

I just started to read A Spoonful of Murder - a murder mystery series similar to The Thursday Murder Club. Also have several other similar British detective books (series I think) on order from the library - The Marlow Club Murder, Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers and Magpie Murders.

Since the weather isn't going to cooperate for me to accomplish much outside for a while, I might as well read.๐Ÿ˜

Still haven't potted up the tomatoes. They are doing well under the lights and sitting on the heat mats in the garage. Think I'll start more lupines and put stick them around the property. I once had a couple nice ones growing near the chicken run and tore them out because they aren't good for chickens, so will stick some toward the back of the property where the chickens don't roam.

It's 33F and I need to tell the hens good morning.

    Make it a wonderful day!

Allie That can be a side effect from all the antibiotics you have had to be on. Once you are done with them look into what you can do to rebuild your gut Microbiome back to health.

Lanette the wheat in the USA was breed to be short and have more gluten this was before GMO that is why they can label it GMO free. (1920's) The extra gluten does make bread products more doughy. Unfortunately gluten is not an easy compound to digest hence the problems many of population suffers as a result. It can cause inflammation throughout the body. It will have a different effect on each individual. For some it will be obvious in aggravating Crohn's disease. Others like me it affects me mentally and my mood.

It is for this reason I have greatly reduce my consumption of anything containing wheat. I am able to handle a small amount โ€ฆan occasional piece of home made pie (usually a half), soup thickened with wheat. I forgo doughnuts, cookies, cake, crackers, pancakes(occasional ones made at home from oat flour). Adopting this way of eating I feel and look better. BP last night was 111/74 pulse 68 without any medication. Weight this morning 157 lost the two pound travel weight within my 3 pound maintenance weight for my 5 foot 7 inch frame. I go for physical this week and will be interested in how it has affected my blood work.

At times it is hard to forgo what is considered by many as treats. It took me about six months to get where I am. I did eat some gluten free products to help me make the change. Now I am very selective about what treats I will allow myself and I enjoy them more when I do have them. Most of the time when I am faced with them I feel no temptation to indulge. I think about how I felt and looked after eating too many of them. I think I no longer want to help the big food companies get richer. Some of these were bought out by the tobacco industry when they were called on the carpet and their pocketbooks for getting people addicted to cigarettes. Now they are doing it to food for profit. Remembering this stops me cold from reaching for a high processed food be it gluten free or not! There is a reason why it is so hard to eliminate processed food out of your diet. For me knowledge was the power I needed to make the change.
