can you get a referal to a registeted dietitian? Do you test, with a sensor or by hand after meals and take note how your sugar levels react to different kind of foods?

Go to Diabetes.org for rational explanations and food (macros) suggestions.

Well, when blood glucose is elevated for the length of time it takes to go through the stages of Insulin resistance then prediabetes and then develop into diabetes as in type 2 usually takes years to develop and it's about the amount and type of carbohydrates are being consumed. Reducing carbs that meet your requirements to facilitate a reduction in your A1C is probably a good plan of action. Talk to someone that knows what they're talking about and not just medicate you or suggest a GLP-1, those are just band-aids and not addressing the root cause, imo.

I don't have diabetes, pre-diabetes, or as far as I know, insulin resistance. Many years ago, I went to a dietitian, told her type 2 runs in my family and I don't want it. She told me 2 fruits a day, preferably with meals, always with protein. Sugar was the thing I was fighting, mostly Coke, and of course we discussed that thoroughly.

D2 and carbs is tricky. Stick to complex carbs (black rice lentils ect) spread them over multiple small meals and snacks. And always walk 30 minutes after your meal for 15 minutes. Try to exercise at least 30 minutes a day. And build your muscles.
