Vicki - Congratulations again on getting your new job, and I hope today is wonderful!
Getting my financial passwords changed, some sketchy messages that are going on over on my shopping site. Probably nothing, but when it's money, my antenna STAYS up online.
Haven't lost a penny, just a couple odd messages that make me think a scammer is stalking my stuff at the moment. They'll move on after they run into a couple of firewalls on my side. If you're not changing your passwords regularly, please stop a moment today and do so! Keep yourself and your family safe.
Other than that, mostly just Monday chores.
Probably drop in again later.
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR8 -
Lisa I agree. Changed 2 this week!

My DS’s therapist told me she would call after she speaks with him today. I told her about his doubts and fears from his call, and she will address them with him without saying I told her. I found that my new doctor will listen to me when I speak of my husband’s needs and depression. The last doc wouldn’t talk or do anything about DH if I asked her. This one is going to ask him questions, check his memory, and is working with me to adjust his meds. I am happy about that. I need to get back to my Pollyanna attitude and look on the bright side., deal with whatever comes up, lovingly detach, and take care of me!
Passwords Apple has a built in password app that saves and creates passwords for you. I also have a password generator that I’ve set up with what I want/need in a password, such as numbers, upper case, lower case, AND special characters, rememberable and 15 characters. I’ve been changing my passwords whenever I need to use an app that I’ve forgotten the password to. The app from Apple also points out ‘bad’ or easily guessed passwords, which I simply delete from the Apple App and when I next access the app, I change the password. If you don’t have an Apple, there are apps you can get for Android or Google phones and devices.
No doctors this week, so glad about that! It actually got up to 100 degrees yesterday! Way too early for that! In the upper 70’s today, weird weather this year, one extreme to another.
Thought for today:
What was the board game collector missing?
He didn’t have a clue!

Ginny - Ah, your brother and SIL thinking of moving to your retirement community makes better sense than looking for another house and yard to take on. I think I was "mentally mowing" when I read through the posts yesterday, lol.
Glad you got your shower in, what a great feeling. Good job not checking up on work. 😁 Relax and recover!
I hopped on the mower after lunch yesterday and got the whole place done plus some pruning. Need to prune back some other bushes, weed-eat, then rake up the grass. Looks like I have the rest of the week to get after all this weather-wise. Will probably be mowing again Friday or Saturday.
Make it a fabulous week, ladies!😍

My best friend's dad sank into Cheyne-Stokes respiration this morning. If I had a couple thousand dollars extra, I'd be on a plane, even though traveling long distance is still not a good thing for me… but my lack of ready cash is keeping me from doing something I know I am not ready to do yet.
The best option is not always the easy one.

MFP Weekly Check-In for April 14, 2025
Rita in Roswell NM - Lost 2 pounds this week to make up for last week. Part of it was colitis so I hope it stays gone. Average steps last week were 3,835, I know I can do better than that, but it’s been a hard week last week. Stand 11 hrs a day, move 375 calories a day, walking 2.3 miles a day, (I need to up that to at least 3), and exercise average of 27 minutes a day (that needs to be at least 30 minutes). Not really bad but a lot of room for improvement.
Debbie in Napa Valley CA - pretty much the same as last week- up .2 this morning. Won't be walking the wetlands this week. Daycare girl is on spring break. I will take her with me to walk the dog.
Barbara on the Southern Oregon Coast - Weekly average WT up to 133.2 from last week's 132.9. No time to tally steps, AF etc. Gorgeous weather but have I been gardening? Nope, in a baking frenzy tried my hand at hot cross buns for the first time. Need to channel my inner Lisa to wrap my head around how to schedule dough rising to coordinate with my energy levels...
Lanette in SW WA State – weight 164.5, trending back down. Step average 8318, up from last week. Total activity minutes 265. Doing PT exercises, house walking with weight again, with modified light Farmer’s carry - OK per physical therapist. Was able to get busy doing outside chores – mowing, pruning, weed eating.

Hi! Think I’ve been here before but 🤷🏽♀️I’m back. Between 2019 & 2020 lost 125 lbs. Then was hit by a car one morning during my walk/run. Left me paraplegic and in a wheelchair. Sitting on my but for three years left me gaining the weight back with visitors. Im now in a rehabilitation facility after suffering a stroke in 2023. Im now trying to lose weight to get back to walking. Been in a weight loss clinic and prescribed Ozempic. Happy to say I’m now below 300 lbs.
wish me luck and encouragement

Hello Peeps,
Welcome back Pamiede! I am so sorry about your terrible accident. How is your mobility in your upper body? At UMMC, they have integrative care. Rachel is excellent with PT and will take you to the pool to work with you. Dr Burgess is great with the mental stuff and can deal with everything. The integrative care team is in Ridgeland, MS, where Holmes Community College is. They have a fabulous year-round indoor pool, and it is heated. They also have a whirlpool tub. They have dieticians on staff, too. I don't use them cause I have one in Flowood, at the UMMC's weight loss clinic. Sending hugs to you, for this is a lot to deal with.
Lisa, you and I are in the same boat. I want to go out to Torrance, CA, and support my friend and family through all of what is going on with her mom. I love Mrs. Hashimoto; she has always loved me since middle school. I do not have the funds to go. My DS has bled me dry this season by $2,500. I am going to pick up some hours to make up for it. He needs more money to pay his balance with the bursar at school. I told him he needed to set up payments with New York to pay his taxes. He made a little over $15,000 and owes $430.00. That is wild. I always got my money back when I was his age. Linette has always been there for me when my dad died. I guess we both lost our dads a year apart. I told Linette to hug her mom for me and thank her for her support all those years. It is just so hard to say goodbye.
Michelle, are you saying that you are willing to work with BK and stay?
M and PIP, I may try the monkey socks for the pool. I am reading a book on workouts in the water.
Terri, do you have beautiful ocean or water views where you live? Does it ever get hot there in Ireland?
Tracey, what kind of crafts will you do with Michaela for Easter?
Rebecca, have you heard any update on your DS?
Barbara, has the water situation improved yet?
Carol, have your eyes been better since the surgery?
Allie, how are you doing? Will you see the kiddos for Easter?
Flea, what college does DS plan to go to when he graduates? What is he interested in? The Arts?
Have a wonderful evening, everyone.
Chow for now,
Mo in Mississippi

Hello! I've been around this thread a bit and didn't remember you, so I went looking at your history. You were definitely on MFP, but this is the first time you've joined this thread. You tended to post in the 200+ monthly threads. I'm so terribly sorry about the car accident leaving you a paraplegic, and the stroke as well. This is an amazing bunch of women, who can provide an awful lot of support - drop into any conversation that interests you, and welcome back to MFP!

We took yogi for his regular shots last Thursday and the vet noticed a hard little lump on his side, by the rib cage. Vet wanted to take a sample and look at it. She came back concerned wanting to send to the pathologist for more detailed look. Vet called today and told us it is cancer, sarcoma. Some may grow slowly or some can be very aggressive and get big really quick. Yogi turned 11 in January and right now, he’s a king like normal, nothing wrong. We could do an x ray, remove it but it could grow back or leave it and see what happens. He could last 2-3 maybe 4 more years or he could go quick.
20 -
Pip- so sorry about Yogi- praying the cancer is very slow growing and you get many more years with him.
DH's sugar is pretty good but he is still stressing more than he should. He holds on to things and tiny things that I would just ignore really set him off.
Ran some errands after walking and feeding MIL's dog. Nice to only go in the mornings- son takes care of evenings. Soon he will do both once he moves in over there.
Dh wanted to go to Concord to Daiso,Hobby Lobby and TAPS Plastic
We go to as many places as possible to make the bridge toll worth it.
It is now $8 for all Bay bridges.Lunch was at Fuddruckers- I love their crispy chicken sandwich(skip the bun, brought it home for tomorrow or tonight if I am really hungry after class). They have a huge condiment bar so got a pile of lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and pico de gallo and cut up the chicken patty into strips- made 6 lettuce wraps out of the one patty
I was very full from all the veggies but a good full.Leaving in 5 min. for class. One friend will be back but at least two more will still be out for this week.

He finally called me last night. It had been days of worrying if he made it. Turned out he arrived late Thursday night, slept at an awful hotel on the far side of base, then was moved to Hampton Inn Friday, because there were no barracks available. He slept Sat, and Sun. Finally got some jasmine rice and Gatorade, as he had not been able to keep anything down. His Crohn's had flared up from. the stress of the journey. Hopefully he can visit a GI doc at medical soon. We video chatted and he looked rough, but probably just relieved for the long flights to be over. Dealing with Crohn's every 2 hours unrelenting is not for the timid. My heart ached listening to him tell his saga. But on a good side he has great perseverance thru it all, and his skills at trying to figure out situations is something the Navy taught him. Bless him. Now he just has to figure out housing.💖⚓🙏
Hugs ladies, Rebecca Whidbey Wa

Allie - I hope that you were able to get some help today to calm your troubles.
Flea - I think that my grandson would want to wear a cape to prom too.
Mo - I have taken three sets of swim lessons between 2018-2019. I just find if I pay for something ahead I’ll be more committed to going. When I just tell myself I’m going swimming I let myself down. Don’t ask me why, I’m not sure.
There’s probably some theory in some book that would tell me.Rebecca - What a shame your son is struggling again.
Ginny - I have Irish roots too. My maternal grandmother’s side. I have her history way back. My Dad’s paternal side I have back to the 1600’s England.
Machka - I bet you’ll love the swimming. When I took mine I was terrified of the deep end. The instructors were remarkable. I did find the second and third set better than the first though. I felt I was just getting it in the first set when it ended.
Vicki - I hope it was an incredible first day.
Lisa - I need to change my passwords too.I’m sorry you can’t be there with your friend.
I understand the feeling very well.Mo - I don’t know if I’ll be crafting with Michaela for Easter. I have been put on a “do not buy” order by her Mom. 😂
They have to move this year, and all 4 of them have a terrible time of getting rid of anything. I have offered to go help the kids with their rooms so that maybe I can guide them a little easier than their Mom would.I would like to do a faux stained glass piece for my front window. I need to look into what I need.Pip - so sorry about Yogi.
Debbie - when I’m stressed and worried the little things set me off too. Not in a rage, but I sure can curse and huff and puff. I feel I would be crushed by my own anger if I let the big things set me off. It’s happened probably 2-3 times in my adult life so thankfully a rare thing but I don’t like myself when it happens so don’t allow it.Your DH has been under so much stress and abuse it will take some time for him to relax and it may well be a couple years after she has passed.
Rebecca - so glad you were able to video chat with your son.
It was definitely a Monday at work today. I actually left early because I had a headache, only 15 minutes but early just the same.
I am currently watching The Voice and then heading to bed. I watched American Idol earlier this evening, the young man from NB did a good job, I don’t know if he’ll make it to Top 15 or not. He stated tonight, that where he comes from it’s hard to dream. He sure is right on that.

Pamiede - Wow! That's a lot to be dealing with. Here's hoping things get better from now on. 💕
Tracey - usually, I've drunk quite a bit when it all comes flooding out. Often on holiday, or cruises. We have had some pretty spectacular spats at restaurants on holiday. Several times, in the past, we've argued about this thread! Not recently though. 😉 One good thing about my susceptibility to UTIs is that I can't drink a lot anymore. 🤣 Great poem!
Pip - So sorry about Yogi's lump. Let's hope it is slow growing. Sometimes, like people, the older you are, the less quickly they grow.
Rebecca - What a business about your son. Thank goodness he has such a great mum.💖
I may have forgotten someone, but I am reading carefully. Love to you too.
Girls today after their art class. I'll be smashing some avocados for Edie and me. I'm going to try and fool them with the wooden eggs. They are in an egg carton, and look exactly like real eggs. 😜
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

We had an Easter morning tea today which featured a lot of raw carrots (and dip) … and a few were explaining to the plethora of Asian colleagues what carrots have to do with Easter!! 🐰 🐰 🐰 😄
I was glad to see all the carrots rather than a bunch of sweet stuff.
One of my Chinese colleagues and I have been making progress in learning French. Her first language is Mandarin, and she's still learning English, but she's trying to learn at least the greetings and first part of a conversation in as many languages as she can. It's a great opportunity for me to brush up on my French!

Good Tuesday!
Ginny- My schedule wears me out! This is especially true in April and May. Great job on leaving work stuffs off.
Work notice in Ohio- It is considered courteous to give two weeks notice, but depending on job, not required. I have always given 2 week notice with one exception. New owner at flower shop. He had me crying at end of first day and by lunch second day. I left at lunch and never went back. Fast forward 15 years later, he recognizes me at our shop. He told me he remembered I was a great worker, but then I wasn't there. Seriously! Lol!
&Juliet was fabulous! It was the shortest 2.5 hours I have spent in a theater.
Welcomes!
Hugs!
Healing thoughts!
Must get some things done before work.
Make the best choices you can in the moment!

PIP ~ So sorry to hear about Yogi! Pray that you will have his company for several more years and that he will not suffer in the meanwhile. I always love the photos of him wading in the ocean and fountains.
Tracey ~ What a great poem to share! I think we all can find a place in it! As for swimming, I learned to float when I was very young but that's the extent of my ability. The last time we visited a pool I had a very difficult time trying to go under the line that separated the shallow and deep end. Guess that was due to FAT doesn't do well under water…LOL 🤗
Kylia ~ Glad you enjoyed the play.
Michelle ~ That sounds like a lot of money for a new deck. I am hoping to get our screened in porch updated but would never pay that much.
Going to PT this morning and hope she will give me some exercises to do at home! Lower back pain is still there but the shocking pains have subsided for the most part.
MO ~ The small surgery I had done on eye was successful to a point! Most everything looks brighter. I still need to make an appointment to get eyes checked for glasses.

Morning, all,
Just got off an hour-long phone visit with my friend, won't give you the details, I think most of us know that looking down into that valley of the shadows is not for the fainthearted. All I can do is be that voice she needs. It's enough. Well, it will have to be.
Medical uproar
And… while I was on the phone with her, the VA community care left a message that I will be scheduled to see a VA cardiologist, because he thinks after looking at my records (he's never met me) that I need to have that stroke preventer put in my heart.
Which means they are eliminating the possiblity of staying with the cardiologist that I've been with for five years, whom I trust and who knows my history with A-Fib, and have me see someone I don't know who ALREADY wants to do surgery on me?
I need to see if my current cardiologist takes Medicare - I'm fairly sure he does, because I will be telling the VA to take a hike on this one.
I didn't have the Watchman inserted a few years ago, because I have bleeding ulcers in my colon (along with the Crohn's - such fun!). They only stopped bleeding nine months ago now. I'm just finally been able to cut the amount of iron I take in half because the anemia has finally subsided.
Until I know those ulcers have healed correctly, I'm not going to have anyone put me on blood thinners, and that surgery CANNOT be done safely without blood thinners. As usual, doctors only look at PART of my records and not all of it.
The colonoscopy is next month - after that, I'll be able to make a rational decision. I will know what kind of shape those ulcers are in after that.
Obviously, I can't let the doctors make the decision for me. They're incapable of looking at me as a whole. Bet money the VA doc never noticed the bleeding ulcers or anemia history, because he's a cardiologist, and is only looking at my heart.
My beloved husband says, "Your body, your choice. Period." We both know the risks.
And… I'm going to go pick up some beer for Corey, as we were crazy busy all weekend and never got to a store in town. Then I think I'll go to the thrift store. It's "welcome, you little wrinklies" day (seniors get 30 percent off). Might as well see what's shaking. Need to stop thinking about this.
Later, y'all,
Love,
Lisa9 -
Our eggsellent efforts today.
It's a lot more difficult than it looks! Very messy. But the girls loved it. So did I and John. 😀
Lisa - So sorry about all the V A business. It sounds like a scary operation to me. Especially with your history. Boo.
Lying on the sofa now, exhausted 😪 But a good day. It absolutely poured down while they were here. The first rain we have had in months.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx
