Lanette - Love the photo! I had a Twink perm when I was a child. The lotion got into a chickenpox sore, and I still have the scar!
Thank you, thank you, to everyone who is buying the book. It means so much to me. 😍
Lisa - And thank you for the review. It isn't up yet, but there's usually a delay. As you well know, reviews are absolutely vital for the algorithms, and most people have no idea how important they are, and what a difference a few words make. 💝
Quiet day. Sending out texts and a couple of emails. Some nice replies. It feels a bit like getting a Christmas card!
Mentally preparing for the grandchildren tomorrow. I'm a bit apprehensive, as it's a long day, but John will come to the rescue! He's even done an Easter Quiz. 🤣

We are going to be the last great old people, you know. Just in case you were wondering…

Happy Easter! 🐣 🐰
I thought we would have potentially eight people for dinner, and I was panicking, because our open floor plan dining room wouldn't be comfortable with eight people. Then youngest's girlfriend said no to the invitation. Then I remembered that middle son works until 7 pm. Then my daughter in law's mother came down with a cold and just canceled about 30 minutes ago, so I'm down to five. Very manageable but also a bit of a bummer. It will be more relaxing, I guess, because it's just the core people. I do feel bad that middle son is working. I offered to hold dinner until 8 pm so he could be there, but he said it was fine.
No lamb cakes or butter here. Ham for the meat eaters, salmon for the rest of us. Green beans, scalloped potatoes, deviled eggs, cheddar bay biscuits, and I am hoping for a raspberry filled chocolate cake with whipped cream and fresh raspberries on top. We will see. I'm not sure how gluten free will hold up to all of that.
We went crazy with Easter candy. I made the mistake of asking what everyone's favorite is, so now our cup runneth over with Peeps!
I hope everyone enjoys today, no matter how you do or don't celebrate.
Much love,
Flea

🐇 I don't celebrate holidays which means every day is a holiday for me. My mother loved holidays and especially loved cooking festive meals. My father was like me and would have eaten the same thing every day if he could have. One Easter my mother suggested rabbit as the meat for the meal and father said that he refused to eat the Easter Bunny.
😀 My accomplishment this morning was finishing cleaning out Jake's biggest "junk drawer". I gathered any tool or item that looked familiar to me. They will go on the "my" shelves in the garage. I'll sort them further some other day. I made another pile of things that looked useful but not to me (x-acto knives and blades, for example) and put them in the garage with other things that will be saved for son, daughter, and son in law to sort through when they come for a visit. I threw away a lot of stuff.
🤩 From "Outer Order—Inner Calm"
"Clearing clutter is exhausting because it requires us to make choices—and making choices is hard."
😀 During Jake's several years of addressing cardiac and cancer issues, his doctors recommended lower sodium and sugar. I became an expert on finding foods low in sugar and sodium. Usually we ate well, but he when he was feeling low, he treated himself (and me) with sweet treats, snack foods, restaurant foods, and other things that were anything but low sugar and sodium. Now that I'm feeding only myself, I've noticed how automatically I lean toward low sodium and little or no sugar. The exceptions have been the Caesar salad kit I buy to eat with chicken and Ben and Jerry's ice cream.
😀 Heather, Many congrats on the completion of your book.

I so understand the frustration of Johns daughter not being able to visit, one being her dogs. My middle son has that issue, and though it is reasonable, and a very valid reason, its still constraining, and limits us. For us its costly, what with a hotel and all. If its just me that visits, I can look past the dog hair, and disorganization. For my husband its all too much. So it kind of comes down to choices. There's our choices of not wanting to pay the cost of the hotel and gas or the physical toll of either buses down or driving down. Then their choice of not being able to leave the dogs, lizards, plants, or bugs. They have made choices too, to not travel for a visit (except to pick me up when having the babysitter issues).
The fact that Johns daughter uses the choice to stay, because of her dogs probably hurts Johns feelings. I mean there are doggy daycare places she could house her pets in to make a trip to you guys. Its not clearcut, I choose my dogs over my Dad kinda thing, but feelings are feelings.
Big hugs from Whidbey

Today I woke up to the sound of husbands shower, fell back to sleep. Then woke up again to the sound of the washing machine, fell back to sleep. Finally woke up at 9 am to the sound of the dryer. I am so affected by noise, and the white noise of it all just lulls me back to a deep sleep. Took a nice shower, towel on the bed, lotion from my toes to my nose! Then I give myself a little massage, on sore muscles, just taking stock of myself. Its part of my weekly self care, just paying attention and noticing my physical part of me. The lotion part is well needed and I can feel my skin drinking it in! You know (they) say that your skin is the largest part of you. If you don't take care of your skin, your whole body suffers. I gotta big skin organ.🙃😂

Thanks for all the pics of the grands, y'all! Such charmers, no matter the age…
Corey and I got outside, not just once but twice. Had to take a rain delay! He could no longer actually get the tractor to drive forward after this last load, as it was all a mudpit due to the rain. Luckily, the little tractor is a four-wheel drive, you can see the front wheels beginning to sink here. He was able to get it to higher ground once he wasn't trying to move a load of burned, wet trash.
I think we were both pretty well done - I cut brush and hauled it for two hours before the rain hit, and then called it for myself. That's about my maximum physical ability these days. Better than it was! Took a shower, then went out and took pictures while he continued.
Corey not only put two tons of burned trash into the roll-off, (literally - he filled it up) but was able to take the tractor down and repair the gravel driveway before the rain - and did it while smiling.
That tractor will pay for itself, as far as I'm concerned, in a husband who is not beat up from working all weekend turning around and going back to work on Monday. Well worth every penny. He was actually having fun, and I had fun watching him.
Egg hid when the thunder boomers came through, but is out drinking out of the puddles now.

The youth group at our church do a dessert auction every May to help pay for camp. This is something I contribute a lot too because of all the amazing friends/memories I have from going to church camp as a teen. Lifelong friends because of it.
People spend crazy amounts for everything here too. A lot are parents and grandparents of the teens so they are helping their kids out but it is fun to watch. I bake a lot for it but never bought anything.
Another thing they do is have a garage sale for the same cause. We always donate to it but this year, we will be donating a LOT as we are in the middle of clearing out MIL's house plus getting rid of a lot of the daycare stuff that I don't need anymore(now that I am down to just one kid part time-will be great to clear it out and get the space back)HAPPY EASTER!!
Dh, ds and his girlfriend all went to church with me this morning. It was really nice. So many people came up to dh to tell him it was great to have him back. Hope he starts going with me at least occasionally. The pastor even came down and told dh right as church was starting but before he started to talk. As soon as he saw dh he came over. That was nice.
I will be cooking the salmon a little later. Kids went back to the other house and took care of the dog. I will cook and they can take the food back to eat when they get hungry
I made the deviled eggs this morning beings I had time after making the mac and cheese and frosted the cupcakes. My mac and cheese didn't make it out to the table at the potluck, never opened, so took it home and son took it with him. He was happy. I will steam some asparagus and cook some rice for dh. Make a salad for me. Maybe green salad or tomato/cucumber salad.Very simpleTransplanted the rest of my plants I started in the hydroponics. Have a second set in the actual hydroponic system. They come up pretty fast in that. One week for tomatoes to pop up. I am going to have a LOT of tomato plants. Some for here, some for mom's and a few over at MIL's house for the kids-they want cherry tomatoes and Japanese cucumbers.
Dh is napping. He can sleep. He said he didn't sleep well last night- too much going on in his head. Will give him melatonin tonight. Said he needed some Trazadone.Catching up here and really enjoying the quiet. No tvs on, just hear the windchimes outside.

Heather - I think we worry about our children until we’re gone. It’s hard not to.
I hope nothing gets in the way of your trip to your sons.I look forward to your PR video.Allie - I wish one of your loved ones would do for you what you do for them. You have such a loving heart.
Lanette - I love the photo of you and your siblings. I used to get Toni’s too.
Now my hair is curly all on its own. 🤷♀️Lisa - it sounds like a peaceful weekend all in all.Sometimes I love a rainy day.
I think we’re a great generation of Grandparents!
Corey looks so happy, what an investment for both of you.Michele - I bet you’ll enjoy having Ganon to take for walks.
Flea - it’s hard to cook for fluctuating numbers, I hope you don’t have too many leftovers.
Rebecca - it is quite hurtful when someone won’t come visit for whatever reason. We are continually hurt by my MIL’s refusal to come visit when absolutely everything was paid for and she has a daughter and 2 grandchildren that live with her and take advantage, she wouldn’t leave them to come here for peace. It hurts.
Carol - Beautiful grands.
I woke up at 830, made a cooked breakfast for us, swapped out my clothes for summer, made a shirt for Rodger and throughout the day carried Christmas totes from the deck to the shed.I figured out that if I buy 7 more of the Costco totes and 3 more of the same style except 1/2 the depth my Christmas shed would be using every bit of space. I’ll work on that so I have them over the year to pack it up next year. I told Rodger it would probably give me enough more storage I could make myself some more decorations at ceramics. He tried hard not to sigh and roll his eyes, but he also didn’t hide the smirk very well either. 😂 I guess I’m making more this year. I have my eye on a couple of pieces.
I may pop back in later but I’m not sure. There is a 3 hour American Idol tonight and it’s the first time ever it’s all Songs of Faith. I’m looking forward to it.

Rita – when I was a kid we always had lamb butter. But I can’t find it anywhere.
Well, we got the pool covers off. Jess was so happy she even power washed part of them. She and Colby also planted the two plants for me. I thought that was very sweet of them. They really didn’t have to do that. Jess couldn’t understand why you needed a pickax. She found out….lol
Flea – how do you make your scalloped potatoes? This is the first time I’ve tried this recipe, and I wasn’t at all keen on it. Thought they should have been cooked more, but I baked them for about 45 minutes. Have you ever had chocolate peeps? One time, and only once, did I find them in a store. But you can get them on Amazon. Vince loves them.
Barbie - I eat very little sodium and now I can really taste the salt in food. Same for sugar. Once a gal at BK wanted me to try the sweet tea, she said it wasn’t real sweet. I tried it and my response was “gawd, that’s sweet”
Carol – you must be so very proud. Your grands are beautiful (but then again, look who they have for a grandmother!)
Well, Jess and Colby left. She has work tomorrow and didn’t want to get home late. I’ve already said that she can have her “vegetable” garden out on the deck (when it’s built). But the truth of the matter is that it probably won’t get done this summer.
PJ called just as we were sitting down to dinner. I do hope we can go up after he gets out of school.
Allie – look at those eyelashes on Delia!

Hello all,yup took a nap this afternoon..bad mistake..it's 4 am and have been awake all night and have to up in a couple hours at 6..yipee.
Dan did call today and make sure I was ok and to wish me Happy Easter..he had to work..but where he lives was doing a spread ,so glad he gets a holiday meal.
Honestly..something is wrong with my gut..anytime I eat anything no matter how small,I feel incredibly full,my belly makes all sorts of noises and im running to the restroom constantly. Even today the brunch ,my plate consisted of 3 shrimp with cocktail sauce,a tablespoon of scrambled eggs ,a slice of bacon,a small piece of stuffed filet of sole, which I only had a bite and a few pieces of fruit,a a cheese stick, and had water to drink...even then though they had desserts, I wasn't tempted, because it just didn't appeal to me..,I'm telling them they have to look into this more.. and Tuesday I have to see the Endocrinologist..and the 28th Rheumatologist, it's the revolving door of drs lol

Good Monday!
I hope everyone enjoyed their Sunday however it was spent. Sounds like there was some yummy foods and great visits with family.
I finally got my voice back on Saturday. It was still scratchy, but at least had volume. Went to the baby shower. Babies have gotten much more complicated than when I had mine. Then again I was really poor. Cloth diapers, rubber pants, breast fed, and blankets. Of course the obligatory car seat. Nothing like today's wants...bottle sterilizer, bottle warmers, fancy strollers, cute clothes, baby monitors, and some stuffs I am still trying to figure out! It was fun though. I really am struggling with being part of the old crowd though! 😉 Relaxed with DH for rest of evening.
Had no plans for yesterday. Kentucky family had things to do so stayed home. Ohio family grands both had to work. After sleeping in until 630, I was on a roll! Dusted master bedroom, extra room, my "guest room, and dining room. Cleaned both bathrooms. Hung some pictures. Vacuumed. Changed comforter in my "guest" room. Switch winter clothes out of closet. Picked up stuff from rest of house. Cleaned out a drawer in guest room. Cleaned up kitchen. Moved cars around. Washed detailing towels. Hung hummingbird feeders. Put out while gigs. Picked up sticks in yard. Pulled dandelions from back flower beds. Drained hot tub. Man! That was a very accomplished day! I even spent time with DH and the 🐈 😻.
No work work was done- oh well. The house feels better.
Nature provides the best flowers. Here are some currently growing. Yes I know some are the dreaded dandelions, but we won't go hungry if there is a food shortage!
My back is full of violets while the front is full of dandelions.
Gotta get ready for work.
Much love, healing prayers, and many hugs!
Love ,

Morning my chicks,
Not a ton of things going on today, but I do need to call the roll-off people and have them pick up the dumpster and bring in another before next weekend. More rain coming Wednesday, might get them to pick up tomorrow, so we're not paying tonnage for more water. The nasty mess Corey loaded into that dumpster this weekend was dripping already.
If nothing else, I feel like we're cleaning up the environment. Or at least cleaning up OUR environment. I can't even describe the smell that wafted up when he was getting down to the bottom of that burn pile they left us. The rain in between might have made it messier and heavier, but it did wash some of the smell down, too.
Just saw that Pope Francis died in the early morning, I know this is a time of great upheaval for those who are Catholic, and I'm sorry for those who will mourn him.
Just got my "Good morning" phone call from Cor, will go into town after my phone calls and see if I can find some jalapeños for him, he wants to grill chicken and shrimp fajitas tonight, my favorite.
Healthy and wonderful flavors, too. We couldn't find good jalapeños for him at the Walmart Market in the big city, will try elsewhere today.
Need to get laundry swapped over and the second load in progress. Supposed to be sunny and beautiful, so I'll get the clothes out on the line before I go. Also want to go ahead and get my meds set up for the week.
OK, a little busier than I thought. Then again, they all are… 😁🐈⬛🐾🐿️
Egg decided it was too cold, so she's inside curled up on my sewing table. I've finally learned to keep a kitty bed ready for her, because she's going to lay there anyway, and it keeps some of the grime contained. I swear, she's like Pigpen, she just goes out and rolls in the dirt. 🐗 Carries it around with her like a cloud.
Later, my lovelies,

😀 My friend (the one who was the breeder of both our poodles) came for a visit yesterday and brought me food from their family holiday dinner—ham, lamb, veggies, roasted potato, hot cross bun with lemon curd, and corn bread. I had half for supper last night and will have the rest tonight. She is a dog lover and the dogs enjoyed her visit and the walk we took together.
😀 The mail contained my marriage certificate that I took to Social Security on Tuesday so the process continues. It will be a few more weeks before the process will reach conclusion.
😀 Michele. It sounds like good news from your house—opening the pool and a call from PJ.
😀 Our warm weather is gone and wind, clouds, and rain have arrived. Today will be a good day for indoor chores even though I'm eager to continue with the yard.

I said something about another trashpile - this is it. There is a small stream that runs behind the property, probably 20 yards/25 metres from where we worked yesterday - and a reasonably solid wooden bridge, but not one we would trust the tractor on… so all THIS is going to have to be picked up by hand and brought over to the main yard… plus about half this amount again piled up in the trees and bushes on each side of it.
We knew what we were getting into, and it's worth doing. It is not, however, easy.

Good morning all:
I have had an interesting few days un my recovery regarding drainage from drain tube site.
While in the hospital I think I told you I "sprang a leak" and they had to put in an extra stitch. Went home, not initial problems from Friday April 11 through April 16. Seepage started increasing some-all the paperwork sad that is normal. Thursday it increased. Friday late afternoon I am gushing, changing out 4 x 4 gauze pads every 30 minutes. Added wash clothes padding-did improve. Called nurse line and we assessed that fluid was clear, ni fever, sent them picture and they said didn't look infected. Unfortunately had the extreme end if normal. Friday night was terrible-ended up going through every wash cloth, hand towel and gauze un the house. DIL asked me to send them new picture and ask them to compare. I did, pictures ni worse - keep doing what you are doing. I did tae a strap from an icepack for lower back to hold bandages in place so I could walk around. Brother and SiL came over and washed stack if laundry from the night and we visited. Around 5:30 Saturday it slowed and seems to have dine is yesterday. I left bandage in place all day out of fear of starting it up again. Am heading in to clean up and wash wound gently. I see surgeon tomorrow.
For those who asked about thyroid cancer it depends in part which variation you have. I was diagnosed with hurthle cell (now called Oncocytic). I had minimal vascular invasion-which means cells can be escaping from original site. I had my thryoid removed in 1996. Since then I had 4 other surges of positive lymph nodes in the general thyroid area.We knew cancer was still somewhere due to the tumor marker increasing. When tumors were found in lungs (a traditional site for metastasis) based upon my history and how the tumors looked, they had a high degree of confidence they would be the thyroid cancer and not some other cancer but needed biopsy to be sure). It seems to be more common for some individuals to get more than one type of cancer-sometimes at the same time. Anyway-that is why I said it was what we expected to find. We will keep monitoring levels and searching for anything else that has been hanging out and growing slowly. Alot of times we hear someone say someone is "cursed." While they can be certain they have removed what they can find, there is no way to really know that every microscopic cell is gone. I work from a detectable vs. non-detectable view. I'm hoping for another very long undetectable spell!
Sorry for being so chatty but each person's cancer is different. For a long time since thyroid cancer is slow growing (for the most part), doctor's would say you have "the good cancer." For the record, artificial thyroid meds don't really replace everything your natural does and the long term suppression therapy wrecks your body. Is it as bad as some of the chemotherapies and really aggressive cancer? No it isn't. But just because something is less bad doesn't mean it's good!
Well, I think I have courage to go do my wound check. Fingers crossed!

Kylia I see you also have Creeping Charlie that I just learned is related to the mint family. So this time of year when it is just coming out you can add leaves, as long as you do not spray your lawn with weed killer, to a salad. The flowers are also edible. You can also make a mint like tea with it. Stems can be harder to digest. If you want to make a tincture you take a slightly wilted plant because it has less water in it and makes a better tincture… I guess it is good for sinus issues. Since it is related to mint I would think it is also good for stomach upset. Like mint it can get out of hand and will take nutrients from the plants around it so best not it a veggie or flower garden.
Sang at first service I love to sing joyous music. I did not sing second service. There is a different music director for that service and he picked out a piece that sounded like a Dirge. The rest of the day I just relaxed and did some research on my numbers that came back assessing kidney health. They were on the high side. Everything else was optimal or exceptional. Glucose was 90 while fastening. I no longer have metabolic syndrome.
My nitrogen was high and Creatine was borderline high. First recommendation is to up my hydration. It also explains the fact why I still get leg cramps at night. The tweaks I will do to my diet are up my water intake, lower the amount of red meat I eat. I will add a small glass of diluted cherry juice daily. I will limit high purine type foods like red meat. Continue eating no sugar yogurt and low fat or aged cheese. beans nuts and organic poultry and eggs for me. Even so watch I do not overdo protein. Surprising it is easy to over consume protein. Continuing on my high fiber diet is also highly recommended.
