Hey parents that have full custody of your kids....
How do you meet people/have time to go on dates?
My son is 4 and goes to his dad every other weekend or less, and I'm finding it hard to find time to date. Any advice is really appreciated

Plenty of Fish...that's how I found my fiance, and he's a full time single father.0

I have been to that site...0 -
I'm about in the same boat with my daughter. Um...I don't date a whole lot honestly....I'm notorious for having to cancel last minute b/c her father has cancelled at the last minute
As far as Plenty of Fish...for those that it has worked out for, that's awesome and I'm really happy you met someone. However, I have guy friends that have accounts on there (b/c its free) that do it just to screw with people. Yes, I use the term "friend" loosely in this case and I've told them they are d!cks for doing that. I've heard a lot of horror stories about that site.
I've personally gotten to a point where I feel like if a man really wants to get to know me and really wants to spend time with me and vice versa...we'll figure it out. I've been really protective over who babysits my daughter as well and I've started letting close friends that she is comfortable with babysit.
Yes you are a mom first but you are still a woman with adult needs and adult conversation....I dunno if you have this problem but I would feel guilty for going out when I did. I've gotten better. I go out from time to time. Usually when she's at her dad's but I always have a back up now. I don't really drink so that I don't have to worry about a hangover or anything in the morning.
Best of luck to you and if you ever wanna chat (our kids are the same age and we're both single mom's on a fitness site) feel free to PM me.

he stood me up twice because he couldn't find a babysitter...than the bio-mom took Ash for the weekend every now and then...and then I started going over to his house and hanging out once Ash was in bed. Then it became the three of us going on hot dates, and next thing you know I'm a single step-mom while my fiance works out of town You're pretty lucky that the bio-dad takes your kid so much, that's plenty of time to go for coffee, get your palms read, catch a movie, get laid, etc0 -
Why don't you just find one of your girlfriends that loves to brag how awesome her boyfriend/husband is.. and ask her to babysit every Friday and Saturday night since she's got nothing better to do anyway HAHA0

hey I resent that, I'm not a horny MILF...i'm a highly educated student that didn't have time to go out and meet people at the bars...I was either working or studying, and the fact that I was dating a single father was almost perfect because he didn't have a whole lot of time either. Keep your nieve opinions to yourself, they make you sound ignorant.0 -
Agreed, I met someone lovely through that site (single Mum too). You just have to weed out the weirdos....0

I've used okcupid.com and had a few good dates. Haven't found anyone yet though0

- highly educated student
- how you spelled naive
-your use of ignorant. Not sure how being ignorant is a result of naiveté.0 -

and im not even sure how she invalidated my statement lol0 -
Dating isn't easy for anybody...makes it even more difficult when you're a single parent. I have my daughter 100% of the time...no every other weekend for me. It's almost freeking impossible. fortunately my parents understand that if i don't get out of the house once in awhile i will go raving lunatic crazy--they will take her for a weekend so i can let loose. Finding another person that understands my situation is even more difficult. DILF's. Best answer so far.
You just have to take time for you...just like exercise...you have to make it work.0 -
there's spell check when doing papers, "ig·no·rantAdjective/ˈignərənt/
1. Lacking knowledge or awareness in general; uneducated or unsophisticated.
2. Lacking knowledge, information, or awareness about something in particular
Does that make more sense now?0 -
wait...that's really a site? why have i never heard of it before?0

I don't have full custody and I don't date much... It's just not high on my priority list.... (that's code for I forget how to meet people in person)0

Find a reliable sitter or two and ask for help from family or friends when needed. Its actually good to give yourself a break. Even if its just to take yourself out on a date for the evening. Go sign up for a class, a gym, something.... Itll bring like minded people to you.0

yes. thanks for the clarification.
i will leave you alone now, bc i just found out you're most likely canadian and i dont want to embarass you.
but just for future reference, (maybe a course in logic will help)
person A (me); horny milfs need love too
person B(you): im NOT a horny milf BUT, bla bla bla.
that doesnt invalidate my argument. not to mention that the worthless drivel had nothing to do with my statement0 -

easy lj...if you read her original post it seemed she was dating a single dad...that she wasn't in fact a mom herself. so that wouldn't make her a MILF. not quite sure what that makes her...but whatever.
I however truly appreciate you bringing that other site to my attention. we both know i totally fit that description and am proud of it0 -
Thanks everyone for the advice!
I totally missed the drama apparently!0 -
I found it insulting, that's why I posted (and took out some of what I wanted to say!)0
