So I have started Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred and I do CrossFit on top of that. Since I have been working out, I have become inrecidbly hungier than usual! I know that this is due to the amount of calories I am burning, but my question is, how do you cope with this? What do you do to fend off the hunger that working out causes? Thanks.

Haha my butt. I dont post pics of that. :) It needs a little toning. Ive been concentrating on the abs this whole time and sort of neglected the whole bod. Besides, who says a fit person cant keep working out? You dont stop once you see results. You keep going.
  • Eat a very small amount of protein mixed with some veggies or fruit. Like 1 tablespoon of peanut butter with 1/2 an apple or banana. Then, walk away from the kitchen and I'll bet your hunger will go away. You can do this with a small amount of Greek yogurt and half an apple too. I'm telling you it works, is very few calories and you'll feel so much better.
I work out in the morning and rarely eat before my workouts. BUT, you have to eat within 1 hour of your workout. So, if you follow that plan, you could follow your workout with 1/2 cup greek yogurt and 1/2 an apple or 1/2 apply with 1/2 banana and the yogurt. It's really yummy and gives your body what it needs to keep moving. Good energy!

You eat back the calories otherwise you risk your body going to the muscle for energy.
  • You eat more, plain and simple. You're turning your body into a fat burning machine. You need to fuel that beast. Living under 1600 calories doing both of those just won't cut it.

Awesome! Yeah Im trying to gain muscle. Thats my new goal. Throwing out the scale, not worry about the number. Just want a toned, firm look for my lower body, possibly build my arms some as well. Thanks for the tips ;)

So true! I think Im going to have to redo my eating plan, aim for 1750 starting out and slowly get to 2000 a day, maybe more. Right now Im doing 1500 and it aint gonna cut it since I am now actually working out. Before I never worked out hardly and that was ok, but I definitley will be eating a lot more and raising my calories. Thanks!!

Ha! That's just what I was going to say. When you work out hardcore, your body needs more fuel -- that's why you're hungry. If the gas light came on in your car you wouldn't say "What can I do to turn off that light besides give the car gas?" Listen to your body and give it something good to eat to help fuel those workouts! You body will thank you.

Yep, that's what exercise does (energy expenditure). Makes you want to eat (energy consumption).

That's why cutting calories and increasing exercise is so hard on the body (and so hard for permanent weight loss). It goes against how the body works.

Well i know why Im hungrier. Im asking for various responses as to what do you personally do. What do you eat. Whats a good post workout snack, etc?
  • Nuts and peanut butter. When hunger comes nagging at me and I'm not ready for a big meal , I go for a handfull of nuts, tablespoon of peanut butter or half a protein bar

and I'm sure your booty is just as hard as your abs

    EAT MOAR. xD

If you are not vegan, boiled eggs are always a good choice for high protein snack.

Work out before eat your main meals. That way you can use the main meal as post-meal also.
