Ohhh Tracey, you're such a good daughter. I'm so sorry. It's just heartbreaking; isn't it. Praying for you.
I remember talking to my mommy about people she remembered and having to make up stories for her. It just broke my heart sometimes. Then the next day, she was clear as a bell. You never knew what you were going to get. Freddy dealt with that too with both of his parents. He was my rock with my mom. I hope you have someone to lean on.
Just a lazy weekend here, playing with paper, scissor and glue. Still got loads of cards to send out to anyone who wants to message me with important dates and their address!
Love and Blessings

Well we are at our new campground. It actually has trees! I love it! A big lake for fishing and I actually saw a couple jet-skis on the lake last night. There are some houses right on the lake who had the watercraft. No swimming area that I know of. LOTs of birds and different types of ducks! I didn’t know there were so many different types. Out there with my app to get the sounds matched to birds. I actually saw Canadian Geese! I didn’t think they came this far South! The move itself was very stressful. DH was having a fit, (because of his collection of stuff) of course. I just brought stuff to our rental unit and a few things, like my plants, over to the co-host who is staying until we get back. I’ll send pictures tomorrow as we got in too late, and I want to explore some today during a walk to get a better fix on the place.
My son called from Rehab, and I got to talk to his therapist as well. Then, my daughter called on her way to her campground. Nice to hear from both of them.
Thought for today:
Why don’t pirate like to rake leaves?
They hate Yarrrrrd work!
Some ducks! The two were a couple and were funny to watch. Wherever one went, the other was right beside. Only pictures I have so far.

Debbie - once your tomato seeds germinate, do you then pot them up in progressively larger containers - let's say a gallon pot before putting them into the ground or a larger container? I start mine in the little "plugs", then move into 4" pots, then into 1 gallon pots and tie them to little stakes. I'm nearly out of the gallon pots left over from Master Gardener days but have saved a lot of the large cottage cheese and yogurt containers. I'll poke holes in the bottom and use them for the bigger plants. I really overplanted! Hope T can help me find homes for them, otherwise I'll drop them off at a weekly church foodbank down the street if they'll let me. Might have to do a drop and run, lol.
Lisa - snakes? ACK! Are they poisonous? By the way, funny you mentioned your tummy might have been off due to the Activia. I'm just about done with the little 8-pack I bought a couple weeks ago and think I'll lay off for a while. For one thing, I'm not used to eating sweetened yogurt like that. Not sure that I'm getting any benefit from it - my digestion has been OK anyhow, probably from the other probiotic foods I normally eat. I thought the new bacteria might give things a boost and maybe it has, it's just not evident which is OK.
Rita - your new temporary spot sounds wonderful. Enjoy the new sights, the water and the birds. Glad your son is back in rehab and you are connecting with the therapist.
Carla - you crafty folks make me realize how much I miss it. Raising tomatoes aren't cutting it for me, lol. I got a message from T last night, she was busy having fun yesterday. I think our visit to the art gallery energized her - "I'm addicted to DIY cheap project videos! I'm so excited! I love making things!! Especially making things out of junk or things you normally would throw away like tin cans, cardboard, etc." I can't wait to see what she's been doing, she said she'd share some photos and video links. She's a scrap-booker and crafter from way back.
Cutting back on protein….
After some strict logging the past few days, I realize it's hard for me to cut protein back to under 100 gm per day. If I'm only eating 1500 calories a day, then it's doable. When I'm over 2000 calories per day, my options are to "up" carbs, which I don't want to do since lower-carbing has been working well for me.
I'm putting effort into getting more plant-based proteins like beans and nuts and starchy veggies like sweet potatoes - and I already eat plenty. But I can certainly eat more. I'm making a list of nutrition talking points to go over with Dr. Lisa on Thursday. Since well over half of her patients are older like me, and in various states of health, she should have plenty of experience.
Diabetes prevention classes almost finished — HOORAY!
I am SO READY for the diabetes prevention classes to be done! I cannot emphasize this enough. Only two more classes; it's been a year of them which started out weekly, then they went to twice a month. I could have dropped out ages ago, but I like my classmates and generally pick up good info like the discussions about the CGM's (continuous glucose monitors.)
I have learned a lot of useful tips for meal planning, exercise, etc., but the nutrition focus has been on a low-fat, low calorie program which just is not sustainable for me. And weighing each week or two and reporting it. Sigh. It's like WW all over again and even though there are no comments or criticism about our weight from the leader, there's a gal still living deep in my psyche who let the number WW scale rule her life and determine her happiness with her body for decades.
I have noticed, with my recent weight gain, the "what the heck, you already blew it with that couple pounds you gained so go ahead and have a couple slices of buttered toast with honey" is an easy pattern to fall back into.😫
I'm looking forward to just gauging my success by how my clothing fits, and using the bathroom scale for emergencies like smashing spiders. 😁 And being satisfied keeping my weight "within range."
So far, the only appointment for next week is Thursday with Dr. Lisa then lunch with L right after. Having the rest of the week just staying home seems like a luxury after last week of having to be someplace/meet someone for three days straight. In a way, I'm looking forward to next week like some of you look forward to going on a vacation I suppose. 😁 That's an introvert for ya.
Make it a fabulous weekend! 😍

Pip, safe travels!
I talked with eldest sister and I am coming down by train the end of the month for her birthday (70th), then from the 1st to the 5th we'll drive up from her place to my place. She wants to visit Gig Harbor, Port Townsend, ride the ferry up to Whidbey, then she'll sleep over. It should be a nice time exploring with her. 💟🤗💖

M I think you got why you have trouble on your stomach when your over bend your knees when you kick that drags you down and lifting your head out of the water will make it difficult to stay flat in the water. I taught swimmers to learn how to breath properly and keep their head in the water on the side of the pool. You always keep your mouth open. When your head is in you blow out and then quickly turn your head to the side like you are laying face down on your bed and need to turn your head to the side. You aim your chin to your shoulder. I am right handed so I always aimed it towards my left shoulder. I know some instructors will teach you to use both sides. Sometimes it worked better to practice this on land before trying it in the pool. Once they had the breathing down. I would have them add a stroke where as they were lifting their arm out of the water that is when you turn your head to take the breath. As you reach for the wall that is when you turn your head back into the water blowing air out. By learning how to breathe properly when swimming this helps you to keep your head in the water so it easier to stay afloat on your stomach. I would also help them to learn to kick with straight legs while holding onto the side of the pool. It does help to break up the components of swimming and then put the pieces together. I am delighted you are learning the skills of swimming especially since you have so many great places to swim.
I would not attempt to swim in areas where there are rip tides. Even highly experienced swimmers can get into trouble with rip tides. I also learned as a life guard. Know your limits and do not attempt to help a drowning person directly if you know it is too much for you. You always start with pushing a life preserver of board in front of you to offer them first or if in a pool use a pole or hook for them to grab and brace yourself so you will not be pulled in.
Also this is a good reminder this start of swimming season is sometimes people drown without all the thrashing. They get water in their lungs and cannot call out and will sink straight down. I remind parents and grandparents if you take you children swimming you keep your eye on them even if there is a lifeguard. The lifeguard has a wide area to keep track of and my miss if your child is having a problem.
I am not fond of water wings. It gives a swimmer a false sense of security and they can up up in trouble because they try something beyond their skill set.
The best gift you can give them is to get them in a good program to teach them how to swim!
I still remember in college a young high school boy drowned in the pool because the college allowed the local basketball team the use of the pool after the game. The coaches were in the bleachers and assumed everyone there knew how to swim. They found the boy unresponsive at the boy at the bottom of the pool. He did not make it. He was probably too embarrassed to admit he did not know how to swim!

II have such fond memories teaching my sons to swim. My middle son was about 3 when we lived in Imperial Beach and outside our front door was the gated pool. He learned to hold onto the sides and I would teach him to hold his breath and we'd place his cars and things on different rungs of the side tiled ladder. He learned how to float, and if he was tired to roll on his back, arching his back. I would freak out the moms who were the coiffed hair, and never actually went in the pool moms. My 3 yr old would ask me to push him down in the water so he could get his toy that was on the bottom. So he would take a breath, face down and I would push on his back so he could get down there. I also pretended I was the Momma whale and the boys were baby whales. They would hold onto my back and I would say, "close all the hatches", and they would take a big breath. Then I would swim under. When they ran outta air they would just let go and float to the top. All my boys are part fish as their momma.🙃💖🤗

Worked then had to buy gas. Stopped at Sam’s since they had Gatorade with a sale price. Came home and cut the lawn. Vince hurt his knee so I finished.
Sue WA – have fun at the concert. Sure hope dd makes it
leaving this Thurs to go to FL for only 4 days. I did ask the other gal at BK if W would work for me (asked thru Google Translate). As expected, she said “si” and I said “thank you”. I’m sure she understands “thank you”
deb – I remember one year I was staying with my aunt and she had a garden. We ate so many tomatoes right out of the garden that when I got home I, literally, got sick. But I still love a tomato still warm from the sun
I gave PJ an easel once, I haven’t seen it. Wonder if he ever got to use it?
Cleaned the wall from the spa into the pool. For some reason, there’s always these gray streaks after the winter. So I just clean them and they come off. Then got leaves out of the spa. I’m sure there are more. Vince spray painted the green poles, I didn’t do it the way he would have so he did it. Started to rain so they’re drying in the garage right now. Hopefully, by tomorrow I will be able to get my car back in the garage. Put flags by the plants that I’ll ask my neighbor to water while we’re in FL (just one day). Church tonight.
Took a short walk around the block but then it started to rain. Made a chocolate pudding pie because I had some heavy cream that I wanted to use up
Since I don’t work tomorrow, the plan is to do a Firm Total Muscle Shaping DVD and then part of the 10 Minute Solution Yoga DVD. Then I think I’ll take a walk to Food Lion.

Nasty rainy day here today-more of the same forecast for tomorrow.
Big accomplishments for the day-washed bedding and towels, changed bed linens. Put dishes in dishwasher. Balanced checkbook and paid bills. More research on insurance plans. Chatted with SIL and cousin in Fla.
Kids who live closest had their house go live for sale on line Thursday at 4 pm, by 8:23 they texted they were under contract. Today they are under contract for the area they want to move to (about 25 minutes from where I am moving so we are a bit closer. They make this house selling and buying stuff look easy!
Work in basement coming along. I will feel better showing it even though there will still be much more that could be done. Healing is coming along so I plan on starting to sort closets and drawers (easy to do while still in recovery). Hopefully in another week or so I will feel like tackling other stuff
Medical Stuff:
Hadn't had primary care doc for some time (old one retired, saw replacement once and she left practice, tried an NP group through my insurance, did not like them)-anyway, the practice that has my records (the one where the doctor left) texted me when I got out of hospital (all of my records are in My Chart and they are there). They were checking to see if I needed any follow up locally (since OSU is an hour or so away). I need to get my regular blood work done and I think I am due my 10 year colonoscopy. Figure I should get that stuff out of the way on my current insurance (I have met my out of pocket) and get a baseline. Getting the basics out of the way gives me time to find new Primary care near to my new place. I will then get them to transfer records to new provider. So anyway-I see them Tuesday morning then go to OSU to get another chest X-ray and the stitches out. Hopefully I can lighten up on the no fat. Need to see what they think of my breathing capacity. Last X-ray still showed fluid and partial collapse so we are looking for improvement.
Plan for tomorrow is to get some ironing done and sort out some clothes
Rita - I'm not sure I understand completely the reason behind your temporary move-but it sounds like a great place-would you consider staying there?
Heather - glad trip your son went so well.
Rebecca - hope your son continues with healing.
Lisa - snakes? Uh, no-I'm right behind you!
Margaret -your swimming instructions are so clear!
Michele - good job reaching out with Google translate.
Other things I should mention but brain is shutting down for the night.
Take care all,

Plant people … do you know what the tall, palm-like, plant is?
We'd like to get more of them if possible, but it helps to know what they are. 😊
And a humorous article for you to enjoy about how Australia is different from other parts of the world. 😁

Well ladies, son is home from hospital. Feeling better, the sterouds, prednisone, and anti bacterial meds seem to be doing their job minimizing symptoms and his flare has subsided. His room mate brought him along for a commissary run,son bought a lot of his food, and paid for his food as thank you. He bought a rice cooker so he can make his own rice, which he seems to love, and it agrees with him. Along with chicken, tea, and some protein drinks that were low in sugar. I'm so happy for him! Thanks for supporting me through this rough time, I appreciate you!💟🤗💖

Lynette- Yes, I will transplant some of the starts in to bigger pots, just like you do. Especially the ones at mom's that are planted in flats
I text the guy that lives in the motor home on her property and had him check the greenhouse- she has remembered to water it or my nephew who is visiting for two weeks is doing it.
He also told me that they (nephew and mom) were going to go look at a truck for her after she totaled hers.Michele- Fresh tomatoes, still warm, are the best.
Had the show today. It rained on the drive up to Vacaville and while we were setting up but then it cleared up. Stayed cool. About half the vendors as last year and about half the customers I think. Sales were really down. Barely sold $100 worth of stuff. Next Saturday will be better- We will be in Lodi.
Dh did really enjoy talking about our stuff, telling them how he did things, etc. Not having the dread of dealing with his mom because he missed a day seeing her is making a big difference.Need to go to Lowes tomorrow- to pick up potting soil I ordered online. Ordered it the last day of the sale. Need to pick it up by Tuesday.
Want to get more work done in the garden. Maybe tomorrow.Debbie

Machka - I think it's Napier grass, or elephant grass:
Corey tried starting seeds from a 20,000+ seed packet that our son brought him for Christmas last year - out of 72 seeded little plant pods, I think he was able to get seven to start, four beans and three tomatoes. The vast majority were dead on arrival.
So yesterday we bought tomatoes and peppers of various kinds for his garden, plus a couple of salvia that I put in a hanging basket, along with a bunch of trailing vinca that had to go somewhere.
My brick bed on the outside wall of the sunroom is all grown up with more than two inches high of various wildflowers from the package I bought two weeks ago. Tthere is a big patch of pink wildflowers in the yard that Corey wants to save, so I'll get him to transplant them into there, too. At least I know they're perennials.
I got in an hour or so of work on the little house yard yesterday, uprooting fence posts and hauling a bit of construction trash to get into the dumpster. That's the fence completely gone. Today will be a bit more hard work on the big wood fence, but with Corey. He weedeated our original yard yesterday while I was messing around with the tractor.
Today, he wants to also install the rotary blade that he picked up for his weedeater and start getting some brush down around the very back part of the bit of property the little house sits on. Should be interesting, but hopefully not too sweaty, since it's only 47 degrees out there now (8C).
Hope it's a lovely serene Sunday for everyone else, mine will be filled with buzzy noises, lots of dirt and green bits of thing stuck to me here and there. Glorious!
Love y'all,

At federal way with Sue. Forgot how cold it could be here. She told me about one of her cats that he wasn’t acting like himself and she was concerned about him. She had a 5 pm vet appointment for him and was going to have her husband take him while we went out to get something to eat and do some errands.she called mark and he told her that his urine was backed up and it could be stones, crystals or something. She said he would need surgery (3-5 thousand) and she was going to insert a needle to drain some urine out but then take him to Tacoma where the surgery can be done. We came back from the errands and awhile later he came back with an empty cage. Sue thought he had taken him to Tacoma. His face said it all. He didn’t make. They were devastated.

Edie helped us take out the daffodil bulbs and plant the pelargoniums in the pot outside the dining room window.
Then she started on a daisy chain and said, "Johnny, stop being a man and make a daisy chain with me."
How lovely is that!

Lisa … after further research, we think the tall palm-like plants in the photo above are actually madagascar dragon tree (dracaena reflexa var. angustifolia).
They're taller than me!
I did wonder about bamboo or palm.

Allie ~ Delia is going to be walking before you know it! Love her blue eyes.
Heather ~ Edie is a blessing to you and Johnny!
Rebecca ~ So glad your son if feeling better.
Lisa ~ I ordered some wildflower seeds this morning and just hope they come up. It may be too late for planting.
Debbie ~ Good news that your DH seems to be less anxious.
Tomatoes ~ I wish I could find some really good tomatoes. Maybe I can find some at one of the farm stands because the ones from the grocery never seem good. I have no idea how to grow my own and am probably too lazy to do so.
We finally have sunshine today after several days of rain and storms. Will probably get more later in the week around Wednesday. Hoping the lawn people show up and get the yard done.

Walk around lake here is 1.5 miles. I did that while using my bird app to listen for different types of birds. DH and I were driving by a field that had just been irrigated (pecan trees) and saw birds we didn’t know what they were: very tall legs and very long slim beak. After a bit of research with pictures I took, decided they were White-faced Ibis! On the walk I heard/saw blue-winged teal, spotted sandpiper, yellow-headed blackbird, dark-eyed Junco, white-winged dove, American robin, Sora, Northern mockingbird, a western kingbird, rock pigeon, and morning doves. I have also seen Canadian geese, mallards, Brant’s, brown headed cowbird, double crested cormorant, all around this lake! I was flabbergasted at the variety! The ducks and geese are used to people and come close to you looking for food.
The Ibis is the black bird behind the barbed wire. Closest I was able to get.

Thank you-
The tomatoes at the stores are generally picked green or close to it, that is why there is no flavor.
If they waited until they were ripe to pick, they wouldn't survive transport.
You can plant them in just large pots- they do well in containers. Just need to stake them up.
They don't need a lot of care really, just watering it. Loves lots of sun.
All of my garden is in either raised beds(dad and mom built two of them for me years ago-LOVE them) or big pots. The soil is terrible here. I plant some tomatoes in one of the raised beds, the rest in pots(because I don't have room for all of them in the raised bed and the second one is for my cucumbers)1 -

I have noticed that correcting stuff as you go along is hard. Like if you want to make the photos smaller and you already posted is troublesome. Also like if you want to make a name bold, you have to do it when youre all done typing, but before you actually hit reply.

Afternoon ladies
Got Sean out early grocery shopping, and Jean hasn't paid the cable bill, phone internet ,and changed it to Seans name, and it's over 1000.00 ,she knows that he doesn't have the money and she doesn't care.. first of all he doesn't have the account #s or anything for it..
She is just mean and vindictive. I'm taking him to State of Connecticut to get some stuff taken care of.
Did my pills for the week, and got something from Yale saying that my kidney is good not really any chance of rejection. Yipee
