Lip Syncing During Cardio

Thought I’d share something that has really been helping me during cardio- lip syncing to my favorite songs! I probably look like a total weirdo in the gym (thankfully there’s only ever like 2 other people there) but I truly think it helps. It seems to help me control my breathing better and not get winded quickly. It also makes one of my least favorite activities a little more fun! Is this a known thing? Has anyone else tried this? Or am I just the weird person at the gym? 😂

In water aerobics—about 30-50 of us, we sing along with our favorites. Some of us(including me) shouldn't. but if you sing well, let it rip!

I do it for the really tough parts, when I feel like I can’t go on it mentally helps me finish. I’ll do it on the stairmaster and on higher inclines on the treadmill.

In group rowing machine practice, yeah, I do mouth the words sometimes if I can't resist something on the playlist. No one wants to hear me sing.

At home on the rowing machine, I sing out loud sometimes, but mostly only to gauge where I am in "talk test" terms, since my tested HRmax measurement is a few years old and it helps me figure out whether my max is tending to stay close to that measurement.

We do sing out loud in multi-person rowing shells occasionally, too, during recreational rowing, just for general jollity . . . like if conversation during a water break triggers someone to start a related song, the rest of the boat will join in. In that context, enthusiasm is more important than vocal excellence. 😆
