Machka - Now I know! I would have thought y'all participated in Mothering Sundayโฆ we Americans are raised up to be abysmally ignorant of other countries' day-to-day lives. I only knew it was celebrated on a different day in England because I lived there for nearly six years.

Yes โฆ Mothering Sunday (yesterday now, given that it is after midnight), just like Canada and the US.
But Father's Day is different. Father's Day is in September here.
These are the different dates for Mother's Day.

I very s l o w l y got all the stuff out of the bedroom, so now it is ready for the painter. How he is going to shift the heavy furniture, I don't know. He seemed to think John and he could do it between them. ๐ I'm now ensconced upstairs, where I was last year before my op. Things are a bit out of place, but it's not unbearable. I have more stuff on the stairs, but most of it can stay there, until I get the courage to throw it away.๐ I will get up early tomorrow to hairwash and shower before the painter comes. Get face on for my trip to London. Not the most convenient clash of dates, but it can be done. I will do a modicum of explanation of what I want, but the first day will be mostly prep, I think. John also has to stay in for the cleaner's arrival, but he can go out for his walk after that.
So, a good day. My knee held up, but I've been taking it very easily. Poco a poco.
We have roast guinea fowl for dinner, with parsnips, carrots and new potatoes. Green beans. I will go down in a minute to put it in the oven, then bring yet another thing upstairs. ๐
Hot today, and going to be hot tomorrow. The faintest chance of a shower. Umbrella? Water?
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Lovely to see you Allie! ๐
No guinea fowl. Oven caput. Electrical fault. So....I've ordered a pizza and texted the electrician. What a day to mess up. We haven't had guinea fowl in years! I hope he can get here tomorrow ๐ ๐ฉ

Celebrated Mother's Day yesterday with my mom. Her facility had a Mother's Day celebration with a light brunch with Mimosas for an hour or so. Both my husband and son went with me which was nice. The strolling violin player was talented but he had also brought a tape player to accompany him and it was way too loud for a room full of deaf women!
After we got home I mowed the lawn, hired a man who was working for the neighbor to weed whack our front ditch, and worked on some weeding. Today I'm just taking it easy.
Hope you all are having a great day!

Happy Mothers Day!
Heather - of all the days for the oven to have a problem! Hope the electrician can make it out tomorrow. And hope the painter does a good job for you. Hope the furniture moving isn't too big of a hassle.
Sue - nice to have DS here for Mother's Day to join you and DD.
Kylia - what a mess with your lawn mowing fella. I don't blame you for being aggravated. Hope he can come finish the job tomorrow. You have such a beautiful level lawn to mow! If the teleporter was working I'd love to come mow it for you. Have a safe trip to Indiana.
Tracey - I am vicariously enjoying the time you spend with your daughters and grandkids. I love to hear what everyone is up to.
Allie - cute photos of you and Delia. She loves her grandma! Your haircut is so cute and perfect/easy care. Have a safe trip tomorrow.
Rebecca - cute photos of you and Lee. So happy he's doing so well.
Barbie - cute poem from the cat. ๐
Beth - nice photo of you and your mom, and sounds like a good time with her at the brunch despite that violin player, lol.
Lisa - love hearing your continued adventures/exploration of your property. There have been reports, you know, of Sasquatch/Bigfoot sightings in Arkansas. For giggles I did a quick bit of research - I can't recall which county you live in but here ya go: ๐
On Friday, T stopped by with a cute planter she made with a solar fountain floating in the middle, plants stuck around the perimeter - she found the plans on either FB or YT, I saw several weeks ago and thought it was pretty clever. She said Rosie asked her to make it for me and give it to me for Mother's Day. She is such a peach. We're planning to hit a bakery and another little art gallery showing on Thursday.
I ran to Winco this morning and loaded up on bulk nuts of all kinds. Now that I know where to find things, I'm liking that store a lot. I got to skip Walmart! ๐
Chilly here today - high around 60 - and threatening rain. I'm caught up outside for the time being. Need to do my PT stretches and stick my nose in a book this afternoon.
OK, reminder for all ladies participating in the weekly check-in to get info to me by Monday noon. TIA.

Good evening,
Slept in this morning! (715am!) Caught up with yall, then my brain got busy. Started work paperwork sitting on back deck with cats running around. That leas to moving my indoor plants outside. Of course then I had to vacuum. Why vacuum just where the plants were? The whole house got done. Did some more work stuffs (still outside). Then cleaned bird bath and filled it. Then got water for cats outside, why not clean their inside waterer while I was at it. More work got accomplished. Put on a dress and brushed teeth. Went to visit with friend while our husbands figured out some car stuffs. Then took our old grill to a friend. We haven't used it in years. Our lawn guy showed up!
The dark green stuff is up to my knees! DH and I went flower shopping.
My irises are starting to bloom
And both my orchids are still blooming.
Getting ready to head to our local ice cream place with friends. Not a bad way to spend Mother's Day.
I hope your day was just as you wished for!
Lots of love,

Last night was prom night for 3 of my grands...This is my youngest grandson and his date. He is a junior and 17yo.
My oldest grandson. And his long time best friend . He too is a 17yo junior who also just completed his first year of college.
Youngest granddaughter. She is a 15 yo sophomore dating a senior.
I think they all looked smashing!
Grass is half *kitten* cut but at least down.

Hope everyone had a nice day!
Was able to text with eldest. He and youngest wished me a happy mothers day, and youngest even posted a thank you on my timeline. So sweet. Wasn't able to video chat with granddaughter as it was her 6th birthday, son said the day was really busy, (with other grandma because she lives 10 minutes away from them now, oh boo๐๐). But I understand, the day probably just got away from them, it happens.
Hugs lasies!

The electrician has moved out of Brighton, but he put me on to another company, and they will be here at 8-8.30 this morning. I hope it's something simple with the wiring and not a problem with the actual oven! It's a double oven, built in.
The painter arrives this morning, around the same time! Aarrgghh!
Meanwhile, I am getting myself sorted for my trip to London. I washed my hair last night, and laid out my clothes. May have to take an umbrella; we had rain last night, the first for weeks. Amazingly, I slept ok!
My plan is to take the District Line from Victoria to Blackfriars, and walk over the bridge across the Thames. Hence the umbrella. I plan to get to Tate Modern early, so I can have a quick reaquaintance with the art. They have a room of Rothkos there. And my favourite Matisse. I'm meeting my old friend B in the front porch later. Lunch in the Members Room.
Wish me luck!

Electrician been. Oven working at the moment, but may be shorting out inside. Sweet young man.
Now just waiting for the painter. I'm dressed and ready to go. It's muggy. Rained last night. I had to change handbags because of carrying umbrella and water, plus power bank for watching TV programmes. I now have my black backpack. Better for walking.
I've bought my tickets through the app, so I'm all ready.
Hate hanging around. I expect he's buying the paint.

Kylia - Love the pics of the grands! Very fond of the Pokemon suit as well. Just charming, all of them.
Heather - Hope the painter works out and the lunch is just lovely.
We got a gutter put on the sunroom yesterday, that was the biggest accomplishment. Hated pushing Corey to do it, as he was tired and cranky. However, the ten-foot pieces had to be picked up in his work truck, or we would have had to pay $80 for delivery, almost as much as the materials! I can fit an 8-foot length in my Kicks, but that's as long as it can handle.
Took less than an hour to put up that 25 foot span, in the end. Really hate plastic, as a whole, but this is genuinely a great use for it. Lightweight, easy to install, won't rust, won't need paint, won't rot.
My colonoscopy is the morning of Tuesday, May 20, and he's going to take the Monday off, as well, and drive me up there Tuesday morning. Hope I can keep him sat in a chair for most of that four days. He needs a break.
Debating on what I want to accomplish this morning. Finished the Scott & Bailey episodes last night, and will miss it! Really enjoyed that show.
Later, my dears,
Love,

Oops! Big mistake. Mostly my fault. In emails she said Tate Britain, and in text I said Tate Modern. She is now on her way over to here. They are miles apart! How did I do that? I'm in the cafe having a coffee. Luckily I had a protein ball in my bag.
I found the Rothkos after wandering about for ages. I had to ask two helpers. The rooms have tiny numbers which I couldn't find. Anyway, it was worth it.

๐ Kylia, your yard is beautiful and especially impressive since you work full time and are active in so many ways. Thank you for sharing the pictures. Your grandchildren and their friends look great. I hope they all had a good time.
๐ Heather, your day sounds great even with the several changes of plan.
๐ I watched Scott and Bailey a few years ago and loved it. it was long enough ago that I am enjoying watching it again. I like to rotate among several series so I've watched only a few episodes.
๐ฅ I had some disturbing dreams last night so I spent a lot of time reading to clear my head. I'm reading a light cozy mystery.
๐ A bit of rain yesterday but none is forecast for today so I'll be back to pulling weeds.

Worked from home.
Cycled at lunch.
Barbie, I have disturbing dreams almost every night. Mostly about war and being at war. But Saturday night, after helping friends move a table, I dreamt about tables. All the tables I've owned and several I've just encountered along the way.
