Carbs vs. Protein

I am somewhat confused when it comes to the recommended intake of carbs vs. protein. It seems like there is lots of carbs allowed and very little protein in comparison. All the diets I followed so far were higher in proteins and reduced carbs. Any comments/explanations?

Yes, MFP's protein suggestion is somewhat low. You can adjust it in the goals subsection of the Home Tab. I have mine set to 35% from carbs and protein and 30% from fats.0

MFP recommendations are closer to the American Heart associations and the American Diabetes assn guidelines. Most Americans get too much protein. Try getting your carbs from whole grains, and fresh fruits/veggies. Those are your healthier carb choices.0

You may start a bit of a ` war` with the title of your post :-)
But I have tried juggling them all about and my best weight loss is sticking to the program from MFP.
I have lost 15lbs since July...I have put the odd 2lbs on with weekends away and then lost them again.
Try to keep to what the website has set you and then in time try to change to suit you...but as you are on a 1lb weight loss...then my advice would be to try to stick with the plan x0 -
Your macro nutrients... Carbs, Protein, Fat are all essential building blocks for the human body. You need all of them for various functions.
You can set your desired goals as you please, but good nutrition would be sticking to whole foods, veggies, fruit, grain, etc.
Carbs aren't bad, it's the KIND of carbs you put in your body that make a difference. An apple is better for you than candy, but both contain carbs. You & your body logically know the apple is better for you, right?
MFP isn't a diet per se, you can choose what you eat, just be super accurate about recording everything and you'll see where you can make small changes to make a big difference!0 -
I use 40% prtn, 30% carb, 30% fat. You can adjust your diary for whatever works for you! When my protein is higher than my carbs I lose weight!0

I'm with diamonangel on this one. My ratios are pretty close to hers. If I eat any more carbs than that I blow up like a balloon and retain water.0

dont go lower than 45% carbs for more than a month or too... you need them unless its for some health reason that your doctor has reccomended for..0
