On vacation this week. We have Yankees tickets and plan to see the Statue of Liberty, Empire State, and a few other sites.

This was never released as a single.

Billy Joel + Yankees = [song]

Sweet! Enjoy your vacation and the sites. And the Yankees game!! I remember going to the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building, on a 9th grade trip. Back again in 10th grade, but to different locations, including in the audience for a taping of To Tell The Truth, when Joe Garagiola was host. Went back to NY in 2018, just to meander around Time Square. We went into St Patrick's Cathedral. That was beautiful! And an unusual "calm" from the hustle and bustle outside.

First song that came to mind was Zanzibar. In light of yesterday's news, this line has been going 'round in my head:

"Rose, he knows he's such a credit to the game But the Yankees grab the headlines every time"

If it's not Zanzibar, I have one more guess.

    Not Zanzibar.

    How about

Miami 2017 (Seen the Lights Go Out on Broadway)

They sent a carrier out from Norfolk

And picked the Yankees up for free

They said that Queens could stay

    They blew the Bronx away

And sank Manhattan out at sea

I was thinking simpler: New York State of Mind

But I also thought you might guess 52nd Street, but that was just an album, right?

You can give the next one.

52nd Street was an album (Big Shot, Honesty, My Life and the previously mentioned, Zanzibar), but there was a non-single on it called 52nd Street.

    Thinking…🤨

Barry Manilow + David Cassidy + Bruce Johnston = [song]

I did not know the details of this. Interesting.

Well, I know that Bruce Johnston wrote I Write The Songs. But I don't know the David Cassidy connection. Fill me in.

Apparently, David Cassidy also recorded I Write The Songs. I didn't know that either.

I read the Wikipedia info on the song. Looks like David Cassidy recorded it first. I never knew that. I do remember hearing Captain & Tennille's version. I like Barry's version the best.

I did not know that Bruce Johnston says that the "I" in the song is God. I never knew that. Interesting.

    Thinking on another clue…

OK, I'm digging deep for this one. You may have heard it, back in the day. It didn't quite crack the Billboard Top 40. However, it did get considerable airplay (at least around here). I see Wikipedia states it did peak at "No. 17 on the Top Rock Tracks chart in the US."

John Eddie + Kurt Russell + Gilligan's Island = [song]
