Hey kids,
Was so exhausted I was in bed by 7 last night, up again at midnight to get some water down me, and slept almost 11 hours, in the end. Was weepy and weirded out last night (my poor husband…). Not my usual mode.
Still leaning to the left every time I start to move, and dizzy on standing. Takes me a couple tries to move in a straight line. I think I'm dehydrated, mostly. Everything still tastes odd; the iced tea that I usually drink all day long tastes weird, but water tastes good—that's unusual, but I'm taking full advantage of it and sipping from it constantly. Since the gastric bypass 20 years ago, water that hasn't had something dissolved in it, like tea or a drink mix hits my stomach like a rock dropped in it. Not today, though.
Basically, the three massive doses of laxatives they gave me to clean me out were all dehydrating me terribly, and then throw in the diuretics I take every day, and it's a rough combination on this old body. It will pass, and I know what's necessary. Just annoying to feel this bad two days before AND the day after a test to see how healthy I am!
Reading everyone's so I can keep up with y'all, still in recovery mode.
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR9 -
😀 Rita, when Annie was younger she grabbed my hands and arms with her strong mouth and left bruises on my arms. When I went to the dermatologist for a full body scan she asked me about the bruises on my arm (thinking abuse, maybe?) and I told her about Annie. Annie's sharp nails tore my jacket in a lot of places and had to mend it with duct tape. She is so much calmer now, in part because of training and in part because of maturity. When Noah, the black cat was a kitten, my legs looked like I'd crawled through barbed wire from all his attempts to climb me.
😀 Heather, congrats on sleeping on your new sheets in your newly decorated bedroom.
😀 Lisa, hooray for surviving the colonoscopy and getting helpful results.
😀 Beth, great news about your cochlear implant.
😪 Carol, sorry you are still in pain. Hope you get some solutions soon.
😀 Garbage and recycling are at the curb to be picked up today. My neighbor's half full cans made it possible for me to get rid of all my accumulated yard waste as well as some cardboard and packing materials. My garage looks great. I am so grateful to my neighbor for telling me that I could add to her cans when I took them to curb while she was gone.
😀 It has been ten days since I planted seeds in pots and the some of the sunflower seeds are showing little green sprouts. I am excited.

Good Morning ladies:
Tracey purchased a condo in Chicago, and there are more opportunities there than here. He doesn't want to live in Mississippi anymore. I missed seeing my show on Monday because I passed out in my chair.
Ginny, the bedding business is my DH specialty. We have an adjustable bed, and I love it. When co-bedding, it is nice to have two twins to adjust the way you want it. When I had Covid and or uncontrolled asthma, it was nice to be able to raise the head of the bed. Sometimes, you need to elevate your feet to decrease the swelling. Mine vibrates, but that scares Rose, and it isn't quiet. I am a fan of the adjustable bed.
Barbara, are you going to see a neurologist about the problems you have been having? If so, keep us posted.
We all have been having aches and pains lately. Is this what getting older is all about? That reminds me that I am calling the clinic about my orthotic. I have had trouble with headaches since I was a kid, but more prominent in my teens. Well, I will check in later.

Good morning,
Heather … the bedroom is beautiful!
Well, it wasn't the battery on my husband's truck. Had it towed to the service garage yesterday and now waiting to see what it's going to cost us. In the meantime, I'm encouraging my husband to look at getting a new truck. He's resistant for multiple reasons, but the truck has 225,000 miles on it and is ending it's road life.
Went to cell phone provider and a fast talking rep gave me a hard sales pitch, so I walked out. Will take my son with me to another branch of the provider that is known for a softer sell. I've since done quite a bit of research and now I'm well prepared to discuss what I want/need.
Shower door is being ordered today. Husband finally spoke with the manufacturer and both decided the door I had selected would not fit properly. An alternate door was suggested and, while it's not exactly what I wanted, it will also look nice. Now 3 months into this renovation, both my husband and I want to be done.
Husband fixed old Maytag so I'm back to having two machines … an old one that uses a lot of water and a newer one that doesn't use enough!
Visiting a very dear friend today. She has been moved into the assisted living facility I first moved my mom into. She doesn't like it anymore than my mom did.
Have a great day!

Decluttering and organising day. I am still deciding what to bring down from upstairs and what to leave up there. I've reorganised John's room, which he likes, and there is room now for the rocking chair in there. It belonged to his former partner who died. Apparently, she went out to buy a sofa, and came back with that. ☺️ It's from Liberty's. I will still pursue the recovering option, but it's OK in there for now. I'm also going to ask the charity shop if they take table lamps, (some are funny about electricals), and I've got a cuddly toy and three gorgeous dresses for them. The dresses are too small for me now, and I never wear short dresses. Someone else can enjoy them. Even if I lost weight, I wouldn't wear that length.
So ... progress! There is nothing I like more than decluttering and tidying up.😊

I've just enquired, and, unfortunately they don't take the lamps. 🤨

Ginny, I had an adjustable bed. I only used the head adjustment but my DH would adjust the whole thing all the time to watch TV. For me, I would not get another as I can’t justify the cost, but for DH, I would get another. Try it out before buying one. We tried a whole lot of beds before we settled on the one we got that time. Now in the RV, we just add or remove pillows as we like.
Lucy is learning fast! She learned the word “down’ already from me trying to keep her off the table! The last time I had a puppy that was smart like this was when I was raising Rat Terriers. I suspect she has some Terrier in her. Will find out this afternoon after Vet appointment. I won’t do a DNA test on her as we are not going to show, or breed her. NO is her next word. LOL
Getting excited about my trip, I fly out next Tuesday!
Thought for today:
Why was the dad sitting on a deck of cards?k
His son asked him to sit on the deck with him!
This is how I shuffle cards! LMAO!

Oh yes, buying more protein is definitely more expensive, but husband is not grumbling too much.🙄😂

Great job Machka! I normally get done with dinner by 6 pm, then just naturally fast until 9 am so that's 15 hours too. Except I have been eating breakfast which is a new concept for me. Sure its just a Chike mocha iced coffee protein shake, then have 2 prunes "sun sweet dried", but its been interesting. I try to not have anything during the night like Tums because that can break a fast too, anything with a taste, or a flavor. Mouthwash is different because you aren't drinking it. My trick of buying a veggie party platter worked out well, I just put 1 to 2 T of fat free dressing in a small bowl and snacked on veggies until the dip is done. It comes out to 3-4 of each veggie, celery, cauliflower, cherry tomatoes. This first time I did throw away the carrots and broccoli, I just don't like them. So I rewashed the platter and will fill it with veggies I like. Sugar snap peas, mushrooms, celery, tomatoes, cauliflower. It works out well.

Awe Allie, give yourself some grace about the prednisone. Yes your kidney comes first, and being on prednisone helps it. You will wrangle in your appetite, mind your choices soon enough. Persevere!

Your meals sounds tasty! My sisters bernese mountain dog can sometimes get his teeth into things. I mean when he plays, his mouth is wide open, and his paws are like a toddlers just all over the place! So his tooth caught the underside of my forearm, just kinda poked it. So it wasn't a full on bite or anything. It did bleed, so I washed it, and now I have a little brown mark I can say Tucker got me with his tooth.😂
Yes in my Zepbound group on Facebook there are many members that get so sick after their dose. Then some that are just cruising well losing weight on a low 2.5 dose. I hope to be in that catagory. Many seem to be buying online, and upping their dose because stronger is better right? Or they aren't getting enough protein, or they are eating too much and the medicine is fighting that. Many take lots of anti constipation drugs, or anti diarrhea meds, because they aren't drinking enough water. I have decided in order for this med to work, I have to put in the work. The fact that it slows down digestion, why would you take a pill to quicken that? Its like Dr. Doolittle as "push me pull you", they didn't get anywhere. I don't want to fight this med, so my work is logging my food, drinking my water, and getting enough protein. 👍🏼

Some of you color, and some of you do puzzles, this app Jigsawscapes, seems to address both, in that I seem to pick puzzles in the colors categories, and complete puzzles in a way that is akin to coloring. Plus it satisfies my need to put things in a certain order. This is just a mind relaxing activity to me. Here's a screenshot of puzzles I have chosen recently.💖😁. They all start out at 1% when you choose them but don't actually play them right then.

Ooooh nice! One of my other puzzle apps were nice in that I could take whatever photo and make a puzzle out of it! Johns pretty doodles would be just the thing! Sadly Jigsawscapes does not have that option!🙃

Lunch today was 1/3 of a Taylor Farms southwest salad kit. Added 3 jumbo cooked shrimp in there, and portioned out the toppings (like a healthy foods drug dealer) and put into snack bags with the other two containers of salad. Portioned out dressing and that went in a mug closed with a clothespin. I had microwaved a "steamables" container of edamame ( 2 servings) but I couldn't finish the salad, so I put the 6+ bites back in the fridge with two containers of the edamame for another time. Sipping my coffee with a tsp of Truiva, and two T of Bliss creamer amazed that appetite correction is a thing!
Dinner is yogurt, 4 oz of steak, some fat free dressing, on a street taco sized tortilla with cheese. Its a bit intimidating my food these days. But they say if you go below reasonable calorie intakes, its just setting your body up for a stall. Your body is smart! I pretty much consume enough to make the my Fitness pal food gods happy.

Lisa - sorry you aren't doing well today. Rest up and drink up. 😉
Barbie - what did you say Annie's background is? Looks like she has some lab in there. So glad she's doing well with her training.
Rita- when I first saw Lucy, I thought she was a rat terrier. My parents had several when I was a kid and they were great little dogs. Did they have any projection on how big she'd get?
Rebecca - neat that there's a Zepbound FB group. A person can learn a lot from other's experiences. Sounds like you have devised a great eating program.
Beth - glad you made it to the audiologist and cochlear implant specialist. So happy that it's been a success and there's more improvement on the horizon! I think of lot of folks our age have problems with "fast talkers". I always have!
GLP-1 drugs are popular these days, and an interview came up in one of my feeds yesterday which mentioned there are natural sources of GLP-1. I know for me, a few walnuts or almonds make a good snack and quell mid-afternoon hunger pangs. Most of this list closely coincides with the low-carb diabetes nutrition plan devised by Dr. David Unwin from the UK in 2015 that I've been using as a guide.
My research buddy Copilot provided this:
Certain foods can naturally stimulate GLP-1, a hormone that helps regulate blood sugar, appetite, and digestion. Here are some of the best options:
Protein-rich foods – Eggs, lean meats, and fish can boost GLP-1 levels and promote satiety.
Healthy fats – Avocados, olive oil, and nuts (like almonds and pistachios) help stimulate GLP-1 release.
High-fiber foods – Oats, barley, and whole grains encourage GLP-1 secretion by slowing digestion.
Fermentable fiber sources – Legumes, vegetables, and fruits with plenty of fiber (like berries) support gut bacteria that enhance GLP-1 production.
Certain supplements – Berberine, curcumin, and ginseng have been studied for their potential to increase GLP-1.
I zipped to the gas station this morning and got 8 gallons of gas for mowing. Glad that's done. For some reason I dread doing it and messing with the cans. Another job DH used to do. 😁 The slacker.

Allie - your July trip sounds wonderful - how good you can get away. The g kids just get cuter! I had to look up BK virus. Glad you are just having what seems to be a normal side effect.
Lisa - sorry to hear you were so wiped out. I don't typically have that much reaction (I usually find the nap I have afterwards to be wonderful compliments of the left over impact of versed). It sounds like good results for you. Hope the second test gives helpful information.
Mo - I don't think I would like the heat or massage types. I'm getting a decent recliner so it may be overkill (small apartment). Like Rita said - they are a bit expensive. But if I am thinking about one, getting it now when I get a significant vacation payout would be the best time. I am amazed at how expensive beds are now! Of course, I wouldn't get two twins because there is no co-sleeping in my future!
Beth - given where you live, I think a good truck (front wheel drive) would not be frivolous. And at 225,000 miles, you will start getting into spending. I hope your friend adjusts to the nursing home. Part of why I decided on independent living was together me used to a somewhat shared living environment before I need a higher level care (which hopefully is way in the distinct future (if ever).
Rebecca - I look forward to engaging in activities like the Jigsawscapes, and coloring and painting and more time for my needlepoint. They even have painting lessons which I am going to try.
Lanette - yes, we do miss them doing some of the tasks we don't like!
Pip - your lead is impressive!
Made it through first day back. I have no idea why I didn't go part time first week back (I have told staff to do that for years! But, I won't work full day tomorrow due to doctor appointment and I work from home Friday (and may knock off early). Right now I am seeing an early bedtime in my future.
Take care all,

Worked then took a sandwich to my neighbor. He looked better than yesterday, but I’m sure every day is different right now. Bowled for this gal who is having surgery today. Honestly, I really don’t like this league. Too many people on a team that makes it seem to go so slow. Plus, we had equipment trouble today so we didn’t get home until after 4
Believe it or not, I have never seen American Idol!
I did send in a request to BK to have off June 6 & 7. I’ll also tell the store mgr when I see her. Also, I talked to the people at Exodus Works. I would think it would help the guys self-esteem to be earning a salary rather than working for tips, but I didn’t know their policy. They said that they would be interested in having someone work just a day or two or even for the month. So I’ll pass that on to the store mgr. She can take it where she’d like.
No work tomorrow so the plan is to do a Body Pump DVD, go on the rowing machine, and then go in the pool.. Gawd, how I missed that!
After dinner, took a walk then played mahjongg outside. It’s so nice, cool and breezy. I really like playing online
Heather – I like decluttering, too. It gets me frustrated, tho, that Vince doesn’t.
Vince went and got gas for the mower. He wants to mow tomorrow. It’s supposed to be a nice day
I am trying to get the cats used to being brushed so every time they come by me at the computer, I brush them. Only thing is, they see the brush as a toy….lol

Mo - I hope your men get something soon.
Barbara - I hope you had a nice visit with your friends.
Lisa - I hope you get all rested up and back to yourself soon.
Beth - I had to Google how many miles were in kms. Your DH’s truck has about 15K miles less than mine. I’m trying to decide if I should try putting a bit more money into it, or if I should just drive it until it dies. I cannot afford a new vehicle right now.
I really get stubborn when I go to the phone company here. I know exactly what I’m after and very rarely give an opportunity for them to try to upsell me.
I don’t like those salespeople. Will the new door take long to arrive?
Heather - we have a local freebie site, almost anything you post gets taken from there.
Rebecca - pretty colours.
Lanette - it’s a good thing I didn’t have anything in my mouth when I read your comment about getting gas. “The slacker”.
Very cool and rainy again today. It’s supposed to warm up on Saturday.
I probably won’t be on again until Sunday.
I am going to a scrapbook Carnival tomorrow night after ceramics.Catch up then.
Have a great rest of your week.

Worked at the other house yesterday for a few hours. Got the little garden prepped, new raised bed put together(has a TON of nuts/bolts- I think 40 of them), filled and planted. Got tomatoes, cucumbers, hot peppers and pumpkins planted. Not sure what else we will plant.
This morning I worked in my front yard. Getting more pots filled/topped off, one side more organized and ready to plant. Hopefully I will get up early tomorrow and plant it. A lot of the plants are too small but some are ready.
Need to make a trip up to mom's. The tomato plants I bought and the first I started are big and need to be put in the garden up there. May go up during the week beings we have things going on each weekend this weekend and next.Going to go watch tv in bed- old grandma cat has taken over the recliner so won't disturb her- She got another bath this morning so she is sleeping more today and this evening. She really enjoys her baths. She is quite stinky if I don't give her one at least once a week.
Have a great night ladies

Hello, my Tribe;
I had a rough day. I didn't get anything done, and my tummy and head hurt all day. I went through two ice masks. When I was better, Rose was very rambunctious today. When I was better, we played tug-o-war. We tried to play ball, but the wasps were aggressive outside, so we played inside. I am on Linzess, and I take Milk of Magnesia every other day. Otherwise, I won't go for weeks. During my time off, I read two books. I am enjoying Heather's book. I am a true homebody. I love the quiet and doing my own thing. I am meeting my young friend who adopted me as her 2nd mom for lunch. She is very pregnant.
Hopefully, Rose will forgive me for leaving her at home. It is too hot to bring her. If I fostered a dog, would they keep Rose company when I am not home? She seems fine right now. She is so spoiled. She loves one-on-one attention. As for DS, I talked to him and let him live his life. All I know is that I worked wherever I could when I was his age. I worked at a gas station until I got a job as a student nurse worker while in Nursing school. I was younger than he was. So I don't understand him. DH had interviews today, so we will see what happens. He has been putting in many applications so that we will see.
Tracey, you are so lucky to go to the scrapbook carnival.
Allie, Tracey, and Delia are so pretty. I love that you read to Miles and Delia.
Ginny, my bed doesn't heat up. I have a heating pad for my back, but I don't use the massage mode. I wish I could give you my adjustable bed frame when I move. I will not need it anymore. DH has one in our condo. Mine is King-size, so it wouldn't help you.
Michelle, with all of those videos, are you ready to teach an exercise class?
Flea, enjoy all the graduation festivities of your DS. Get a good picture. My son looked drunk on his. I wish I had rented a cap and gown when I had his senior pictures.
I am going to bed now. Take care everyone.
XO,
Mo in Mississippi
