Are Poly and Mono Unsaturated Fats Good for you.

Question to the group. My nutritional section of my app suggests my goal for Poly and Mono Unsaturated Fats be zero. I always understood that they were heart healthy.
Would welcome a discussion of why this goal would be set to zero.
Thanks

Goals in MFP are based on RDA recommendations and the like, which don't exist for PUFAs and MUFAs. I shoot for 50 grams of fat overall as a minimum from a variety of sources, including PUFA rich sources, since the essential fatty acids are PUFAs. I find that MFP database entries frequently don't have MUFA and PUFA breakdowns. Don't worry about the zero default goals.

What Lynn said. Also, if you want a non-zero goal, you can set your goal to any value you find helpful . . . as you can do with any of the other nutrient goals or calories, too.
