Wow, Lisa, I'm always amazed at how much you pay for services in the US. Our Prime is less than £100 a year. I've only watched 3 films in the last few months, but we have deliveries every day, sometimes several things a day. I could not have done my bedroom without it. I always check prices and jump on stuff when it's on offer. Currently, I have a chair, bedlinen and olive oil on order, and today a camisole arrived.

We also don't have to pay for streaming or cable, as we are on Freeview. Just an annual fee to the BBC, which everyone pays. Every time one of you mentions prices, I'm amazed. On the plus side, I know your 'gas' is cheaper than ours. 😄

I've just thrown out a whole lot more stuff. Mainly underwear I've never, or rarely worn, but also two swimsuits, tights and stockings. Feels soooo good. I now have all my underwear in my room, with only some stuff I only take on cruises in John's room. I have a small donation pile. Now pondering on jewellery. 😀

Kim - You are an angel.

Happy belated Birthday to Pip. 🚴‍♀️

Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

    Good morning ladies!

Lisa - I have been cutting back on Amazon purchases too except for items I can't buy locally like Rosie's dog food, though I might switch over to Chewy for that. Most of what I used to buy from Amazon is now much less expensive if I can find it to purchase locally. Interesting how much technology takes up in our budget these days. Phone, wi-fi, streaming tv/movie services. My grandparents never had to worry about these costs, just the landline, and the party line was sometimes a source of entertainment, lol.

One recent Amazon purchase that I absolutely love is a milk foamer. It was only a few dollars with the rewards I had accumulated. Great for incorporating protein powder in liquid and spices like in my chai latte. I often put cinnamon in about 1/4 c of milk, foam it up well and immediately eat it with a spoon. Reminds me a little of flavored whipped cream so a fairly harmless treat that's a little decadent. And cinnamon is good for blood sugar management and maybe our cognitive health as well.

Kylia - glad your DH had his surgery. Do you think his pain/worry about it contributed to his grumpiness? I think watching kitties and dogs relaxing/sleeping relieves our own stress on some level too. I never get tired of seeing the photos of your girls. 😘

Kay - what a nice update on Possum, and good job YOU on breaking through that plateau. So glad you've found a program that's been easy for you to incorporate into your life.

Rori - you live in a beautiful area, so glad you were able to spend some time with N exploring there. And part of it on a horse no less. 😁

Tracey - I had a 2" quality topper on the mattress and took it off several weeks ago. It might have made a little positive difference. I am not sure how much the mattress contributes to my back. I seem to be sleeping better these days with strategically placed pillows. Seems like very joint is stiff when I first get out of bed and I'm grateful once I move around a few minutes, most areas limber up. The joy of aging, lol.

Heather - Hope you are feeling better. It was great seeing your latest family photos. John looked dapper in that hat. I bet many of us ladies would as well- remember Annie Hall? I always wear a hat when I go outside here - sometimes a Vera-type rainhat, or a Stetson - straw in the summer, felt in the winter. It might be fun to wear a hat when I go out in public places but I'm not sure if the hat hair is worth it.😁

Margaret - I also aim to keep my knees no higher than my hips not only for my knees, but my lower back as well. I have cushions on most chairs, including the recliner so my hips don't sink so low. When I went to PT a couple months ago, I was put off by the therapist who had me do the sit-to-stand test from a low chair. My thighs hurt so much I could barely walk for 2 days. I think he was more focused on selling me on the dry needling ($50 cash, not covered by insurance) than paying attention to that.

Kim - sorry to hear about your friend's mishap - you were so kind to fill in while her DH was gone for a bit. You're right, appreciation and kindness goes a long way when we're on the receiving end of care like that. It's a long span between the feeling of being grateful for help vs. feeling someone has a duty to help us.

T made it out yesterday afternoon and picked up a load of tomato plants. Now I just need to get mine planted this week and I'll be off to the races.

OK ladies, remember our discussion ages ago that we are the average of the 5 people we spend the most time with? I realized this morning that I spend most of my time with a little schnauzer, 3 hens, you all on MFP here, daily texts with T and my occasional lunch buddies. Things sure have changed in the last few years. 🤔 Not sure what my "average" is anymore.😁

On that note, make it a fabulous week!

    Lanette 😎

Had fried chicken and southern potato salad from Publix grocery store today! I am sure that I have no calories left for today but must say it was delicious!

Amazon has become a little iffy but I will keep shopping there as I hate to shop in most of the stores near me! My biggest plus for Amazon has always been that you can easily send products back without much hassle. But I am realizing that I need to read the descriptions of their products and the reviews more carefully. A while back I ordered a 4" mattress topper, realized it would be too much, and Amazon would not let me cancel it. They said it was being processed but it had not been shipped at all. Ended up having to have my son haul it away as there was no way to get it back in the box.

    MFP Weekly Check-In for May 26, 2025

Rita in Roswell NM -  finally got new batteries for my scale! I’m glad to say that I stayed the same since the last time I weighed. At 184.4 this morning. Leaving tomorrow for my trip with K. Not sure what THAT will do to me. I’ll try to make good choices those 4 days.

Barbara on the Southern Oregon Coast - Average WT back down to 132.9 for last week and this morning down another 0.2, YAY! Average steps soared up to 7609, and even made goal 3 days of 7.

Will pull up my big girl panties and look at AF days later. Ps2s habit solid if no easier.

Looking forward to fewer commitments this week, time to play in the dirt!

Lanette in SW WA – Weight staying within desired range = favorite jeans fit just fine. Average daily steps 8772 – up a lot due to mowing, yardwork. Walking carrying weights 30 - 45 minutes per day, divided throughout the day after meals. One lap at 10#. I can tell it's helping my grip = jar opening.

Rori – almost all my clothes are from thrift stores. I won’t buy bathing suits, shoes, nothing that can’t be washed at a thrift store. I can rarely find pants, tho, since I need a short or petite size and almost everything is a regular. But just about anything else….Ever since COVID so many of them are opening later, which I do not like. Oh well….. Fantastic pictures. The one where you had your coffee looks so very relaxing

kylia – boy, have you been busy! Neat about the balloon.

Just came back from a pool store. Vince needed a part for the heater for the spa and he didn’t know how to describe it. So he took the part to the store and they had it. Then went to Lowe’s Hardware where he got twist ties, dowels for some of my ceramics and some pipe for the pool. Stopped at CVS and got 2 bottles of Head & Shoulders that were on sale and with my coupons wound up spending $1.67. I guess I can handle that price for shampoo….lol

    It’s misting right now.

Lisa – I totally agree with you about Amazon. The thing I use them for is many times they have things that you just can’t find anywhere else. We one time priced pool salt. They wanted something like $14 for a bag. The only advantage is that they’d put the 40lb bag in our garage. Lowe’s has it for $7 a bag. For $7 I think we can put it in the car and then in the pool shed.

Not sure what happened this morning, but the alarm never went off. Vince and I both overslept. As soon as I got up I texted the mgr at BK to say that I was coming in but that the alarm didn’t go off. I know that if someone is usually there early and they don’t show up, I’d worry. Last weekend she asked for extra tomatoes and onions (they are the most labor intensive). She’s also going to some meeting or something this weekend with the asst. mgr so I’m going to give them extra tomatoes and onions this weekend, too.

Being rainy, made the bed in the back bedroom, cleaned our bathroom floor (I even found an earring that I thought was lost!), Swiffered the floor, cleaned the microwave, next I’ll clean the toilets. But for now...here

One of the things that I dislike about Amazon is when you look for something, like I looked to see exactly what Lanette’s milk foamer was, now I know that I’m going to get all these “suggestions” from Amazon about it. Really, I’m not interested in buying one, I was just curious

Lanettte – my way of walking with weights is when I walk to Food Lion and then have to carry the groceries home….lol

    Going for a short walk

According to the linked article, I quote …

To prevent future UTIs, you should:

    • Choose sanitary pads instead of tampons, which some doctors believe make infections more likely.
    • Change your pad each time you use the bathroom.

    • Do not douche or use feminine hygiene sprays or powders. As a general rule, do not use any product containing perfumes in the genital area.

    • Take showers instead of baths. Avoid bath oils.

    • Keep your genital area clean. Clean your genital and anal areas before and after sexual activity.

    • Urinate before and after sexual activity. Drinking 2 glasses of water after sexual activity may help promote urination.

    • Wipe from front to back after using the bathroom.

    • Avoid tight-fitting pants. Wear cotton-cloth underwear and pantyhose, and change both at least once a day.

Storing bags and scarves - I use a coat stand similar to the one in the photo.

Mainly I use it for my dressy scarves which I never wear anymore and haven't in the last decade because they're too hot. but they look pretty in the corner of the dressing room.

I also have a few bags on the stand too, under the scarves.

I have 3 much smaller versions (possibly mug holders) for my necklaces and beads. Again, I rarely wear necklaces anymore, but they look pretty on the dresser.

Closets - I have 2 decent sized closets in the bedroom and a cupboard with shelves. In the dressing room, I've got a huge dresser with a hutch, a smaller dresser, my coat stand with scarves, a tall shelf for shoes, and a stack of cubes for my cycling gear. In the entryway, I've got the top half of another tall shoe shelf. And I think I'll have a spot for jackets and coats soon.

I would like all my clothes to fit in those locations, and nothing to be hidden away in bins. But I think there are at least 3 bins of clothes in storage somewhere - 1 is in the bedroom, I'm not sure where the rest are.

Donating clothes - yesterday, a bag of shoes and a bag of clothes went to an OP shop. Slowly but surely.

Clothes - I have quite a few dressy clothes for work - we dress up quite a bit most of the time. Dresses, skirts, blouses, cardigans. And with that I've got drawers of base layers to wear under the dresses and skirts in different temperatures: anti chafe shaping shorts, knee length knickers and full length leggings and snug shaping tanks . Plus a drawer of tights - I'm not as fond of them because they make me feel hot.

I've got formal-ish clothes for going out to the symphony etc.

I've got nice casual clothes for going out shopping or whatever, stretchy casual clothes for sitting around home, and working casual clothes for when I'm in the garden.

I've got a couple drawers of pjs because I love some nice comfy sleepwear and like wearing them while lounging around on a weekend morning.

I have workout clothing, cycling clothing, running clothing, and now a little collection of swimwear.

And I've got it all in summer, spring/autumn, and winter. 😀

About the only thing I don't have (or have only a few) is thick, heavy pullover sweaters.

Garden French Manicure - I frequently wear that look! 😁

@auntiebk - sorry about your fall. I hope you're OK.

And I really think that you not recognising the DVD player was completely normal. As I mentioned, it's a very common thing to do … if you see a person or thing in a different location, you no longer have the cues your brain has associated with the person or thing and so you forget. Same as when we forget a work colleague's name when we see them in the grocery store.

If that's a problem, I'm in real trouble!

@drkatiebug - well done on the weight loss!

@Poerava14 - beautiful pictures! Such a gorgeous area. I'm glad you got to share the experience with your "N".

    @kymarai - lovely kitties!

@Snowflake1968 - I'm glad you had fun at the Scrapbook Carnival. It sounds like something right up your alley.

@GodMomKim - I would wear one of my shapewear tank tops and knee-length leggings if I were trying on clothes out in the open.

@Snowflake1968 - yes, I agree … knees the same height or slightly lower than hips.

    image.png

"A person can improve their posture and achieve a proper sitting position by:

    • keeping the feet flat or resting them on the floor or a footrest
    • avoiding crossing the knees or ankles

    • maintaining a small gap between the back of the knees and the chair

    • positioning the knees at the same height or slightly lower than the hips

    • placing the ankles in front of the knees

    • relaxing the shoulders

    • keeping the forearms and knees parallel to the floor where possible

    • holding the elbows at the sides, creating an L-shape in the arms

    • sitting up straight and looking forward without straining the neck

    • keeping the back against the chair or using a backrest or cushion if there are places where the back does not comfortably meet the chair, especially in the lower back region

    • avoiding sitting for extended periods, ideally taking at least a 10-minute break for every hour of sitting

    • switching positions regularly"

Good article in the link below …

    https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/321863

Also, I like sitting upright because I find it more difficult to breathe properly when I'm in any sort of reclined or slumped or slouched position. I strongly dislike soft sofas and chairs for that reason!
