Last early evening I was able to chat with youngest sailor son in San Diego a long while, and then for a bit, eldest son in Japan on his lunch hour (Tues). Here's all of us.💖👍🏼😁
love technology!
Doing well at sisters these days. Getting my dog and cat loving in. Trying to eat well, but not getting as much water in as a like, but that's on me. Just going and doing. She did get me hooked on a tea that's made with a small packet of lemonade mix, a glug of pure lemon juice, some honey, then a mint and peach tea bag seeped in a sports bottle. Then mix with a long spoon. It is called a "medicine ball" at Starbucks and you have to ask special for it.😁👍🏼 But you can make it at home too. Very refreshing and what I would call a bright flavor. Good when you have a scratchy voice but really anytime.
Yesterday my first real food came at about 5:30 pm! I don't really eat breakfast but I do have my protein iced coffee. So it wasn't that I was empty. My sister had some scrambled eggs and toast which I politely declined. I wasn't hungry then. Then we went up to Salem where her son and family live and we helped them sort clothes they had collected for a yard sale they were having. Some bags were from other people. They're raising money for their middle daughter to travel to Washington DC next year for a school trip. So the day earlier my sister and I had gone thru her hoard of jewelry and weeded out all the stuff she would never wear again. She about 5-6 boxes of various sizes. We cut card stock and punched small holes to insert earring and clasp necklaces to make it easier to sell for her granddaughters. They are 8, 11 and 13 now. She used one of the girls presentation board, covered it with fabric using adhesive, and had pins to pin the tags on it. After that we all did a puzzle. My nephew has a puzzle table with drawers for the pieces, so my sister, nephews wife, my niece that had come to help, and I were in puzzle world! With puzzle etiquette, (no looking at picture for guidance, that's cheating! Gotta do the outside edges first etc.... No liquid on the puzzle table, makes sense! I sipped on my peach tea the whole time. Everyone ordered fast food and I declined. It was a fun day but sister and I were tired when we finally got home from sitting in folding chairs or hair kitchen chairs all day!
She cooked up taco meat, with Rotel tomatoes in it, a new thing I have never done, and we had a nice taco salad. Then each a Costco cookie. It put me over in fats for the day, but I was ok on calories.
Nothing like the pie charts I make at home. My plan is 40% protein, 30% fats, 30% carbs. I'm am doing my best here but I am fine.👍🏼😁

I'm beginning to move my jewellery into my room. Slowly getting organised. Still lots to do.

😀 Rosemarie, glad to see you back again and wonderful to hear about all your travel adventures. Good job keeping your weight stable with all the challenges.
❤️ Pip, many hugs to you at this terribly sad time.
😀 Fence report—-6 sections of 22 completed. Nearly finished pulling weeds. More iris tagged in case someone else wants one after the blooms are gone. Saw the first evidence that the pumpkin seeds are sprouting—-the others are already visible. It is a fine day in my yard.
😀 Annie report. She is outside sunbathing. I have been able to remind myself of how much better she is doing in so many ways—less jumping and grabbing, less bothering Bessie, more playing with toys on her own. I don't need to go to balance class. Annie lies on the bath mat so I have a balancing event getting in and out of the shower. Today on our walk she interacted very calmly with a neighbour and his small dog. Slow and steady. I can't imagine my life without her.
😀 Now that it's getting warmer I have to put away the blanket I'm knitting and go back to knitting hats so I don't have a big warm pile of knitted stuff on my lap.

since I had a good enough cushion of being in first place as far as the miles go, my ORIGINAL plan was to go back to the gym 3 days a week and start running. But with yogi and his situation, I will be staying home so I can watch and be close to yogi. We cancelled our pismo trip because there is always a possibility that he might pass over there and that would be messy. I talked kirby into keeping his trip to Vegas so he will be gone from the 1st to the 6th. I also got a quicker appointment with a different vet for tomorrow at 2pm so Kirby will be able to go too.

Pip- thinking of Yogi ,you and Kirby and will be praying for a peaceful outcome for everyone.
Another day of doing nothing, but I got alot done yesterday..so I don't feel horrible about today..

Pip – my heart goes out toyou and Yogi (and, of course, Kirby). What a wonderful thing you are doing by staying with him. (((HUGS)))
After work went and played mahjongg since it was raining out. Today was a sort-of lucky day. I found 5 pennies in the parking lot where I parked my car, maj’d twice, and then went to a store to see if they had any more of the cookies Vince liked (they were on sale so I really didn’t think they’d have any). They had 3 bags!
Took a walk around the block then worked some on the tissue box for my girlfriend. Other than that, not much going on today

Amazon - we still have an account as it’s part of the bundle with our cable but we don’t make as many purchases as we used to. The prices have footed higher it seems. In saying that, they have been here 3 times this week but because I can’t find items in store for a reasonable price or the product at all. It’s the first time in probably 2 months we’ve used the account though.
Lanette - I am very stiff and sore upon waking too. I think we need a new mattress.
Allie - It’s nice to read that you are feeling some energy!
Rosemarie - your trip sounds wonderful.
Pip - I’m sorry about Yogi. He will be missed.
Debbie - I can’t believe your Mom still does all of that gardening. It’s a lot of work.
I have to say regarding your DH not feeling well. When I was finally out of the stressful situation I was in from work , I didn’t do much for a couple of months. I literally slept off and on all day everyday. I think your husband has been under terrible stress for years now, it makes sense he needs bed days. He’ll probably need quite a few of them. I’m surprised you don’t too.Rebecca - I’m so happy to read about your visit with your sister. It’s so nice that you get along so well and well done on sticking to your guns and her respecting it!
Heather - I loveJohn’s communications too.
Barbie - it sure would be warm here knitting a blanket.
Pip - Hugs to you.
Michele - with all of that luck you should have bought a lotto ticket.
I went to the city for my lunch, which should have only taken 1.5 hours, but ended up taking 2 thanks to construction. I had to pick up the tickets and my cap and gown for my grad on Friday.
I also stopped and picked up the old phone I gave Michaela a few years ago. There was a deal on that they would buy old phones. I figured I might get 10-15 for it and was pleasantly surprised when I received $50. She is getting her brother’s old one. She doesn’t have an actual phone, she plays games and listens to music on it.
I got home late and had a friend pop in for a surprise visit. She is thinking of buying a place here in the park.
It’s late again, and just starting to wind down. Tomorrow night I need to just chill.

Hello everyone;
I was able to get out and about today. My head feels better. The pain is dull, yet it is better. Kylia suggested salt water. I remembered that I had a packet of Headache Ease Replenish and mixed it in water. I drank 12 ounces, and I went to bed and slept for 4 hours. I'm finishing up the laundry, and the dishwasher is humming along. Rose is knocked out; getting up and down with me was exhausting for her. I saw the orthotic lady, and she took a mold of my left foot to make an orthotic. DS called for an update on his dad. I spoke with him about pursuing his MFA after graduation. He was tired. They are giving him more time for his internship. So, I told him I would help with ideas. His current summer job provides him with a nice room and food. He told me that he had broken his glasses, ran into a glass door, and waved at someone.
Barbara, congratulations on the weight loss.
Tracey, I used to love going to scrapbooking conventions. Unfortunately, they don't offer them in Mississippi. When I moved to MS, I lost my scrapbook buds. I have some here now, but we don't have time to get together. I am so glad you enjoyed the Scrapbook carnival. I still have my Creating Keepsakes magazines.
Lisa, I want to make some animals too. I have been looking at the kits. Your dino seems so cute.
Heather, your grans love hanging out with you and John. You guys are so fun.
Michelle, you should have played the lottery.
I'm going to fold my clothes now. Have a fantastic day tomorrow. I will be working five twelve-hour nights in a row. We will see how I fair.

Good Luck, Mo, with the long shifts. May they be uneventful. 💖
I'm going to go into Hove today to get my watch battery changed - at last! I will also call in to Tesco for their fabulous porcini and truffle oil mezzaluna. Best commercial filled pasta ever. I usually boycott Tesco, but I make an exception for this, and their Polish sausage. 😛
While reshuffling my jewellery yesterday, I found a pair of earrings that I haven't worn in over 40 years and completely forgotten about. Red enamel. 80s vibe. I like them, and intend to wear them when I'm in all black, or all navy, with a red lipstick. 😂 I don't know if they will irritate my ears, but you can buy stuff to paint on. They are heavy, so for a couple of hours only. Lunch date, anyone? 😍 I feel as if I have discovered buried treasure!
Still a bit rainy. I might have to wait for my outing.

Machka con VERY grats on taking off those litres of soda! Love “Welcome to the chair.”
Mandy I have to log every bite, lick or sip to progress. And getting a food scale was a real eye-opener. Good luck!
Heather, love the spruced up front, the porkpie pics and the chair!
Rebecca what you said about too many ”goal clothes” and for self loathing. None of us need more of that!
Sue ((hugs held extra extra extra long))
Michele sure hope Jess can find an alternative for her dog, a dog sitter, a boarding facility, something. 23 hrs/day crated is no good.
Pip (((hugs held extra extra extra long))) In Boise, that service was called “Gentle Goodbyes.”
Debbie ((hugs held extra extra extra long))
Beth I dread the day when DH and I must get new phones. [shudder]. As for mattresses, we used to sleep on Mama and Papa’s old mattress. When we replaced it we found a price tag: $79.95!!!
Rita safe travels!
Carol thanks for “telling the bees.” We don’t have hives, but will whisper to the bumblebees.
Lanette “garden French manicure” LOL!
Kay con VERY grats on busting through your plateau. Love hearing about Possum/Lavender and your mom.
Rori trail ride in RMNP, Wow! Well done! Love the pics, thanks!
Lisa glad to hear you’re recovering from the procedure. Hope no storm damage, that is a LOT of lightning.
Kylia can DH’s not being happy about parking places, etc, just be… without being your fault? Or does he actually verbally blame you? Boundaries, darling, boundaries… So glad you finally got some relaxing time. ((hugs))
Tracey thanks. I’ll pass your mom’s regrets about not getting hip replaced on to N to encourage her to address her knees before it’s too late…
Margaret Brava for being open to Tracey’s info about knees below hip levels.
Kim, your goal about appreciating and being kind to any caregiver, yes this. Another of mine is to keep smiling even when I don’t feel good. We’ll see…
Barbie, thanks. Just put holds on Death on Tap, Murder on Cape Cod and How to Solve Your Own Murder.
The new “Classic Fit” exercise class IS different from the Better Bones and Balance class. She focuses on muscle groups, more than dynamic balance. Will keep going as I need the external discipline of a class. Know I won’t do the BB&B routine on my own. OMG found my non-existent abs Monday and they’re still talking to me two days later.

I hopefully have finally gotten rid of the ugliest lily EVER, with leaves that were too long and too heavy for itself, always broken in the middle and looking ragged. It regenerated from tiny bits of bulb over and over - I moved them into this bed from a different one the first year we lived here, and after I catered to them for one full season, I decided they should be terminated with extreme prejudice. Zombie lilies every year since. We'll see if I got the whole growth this time.
Those baby bulbs were new to me when I started planting spring bulbs a few years ago! I dug up a lot of the bulbs at our previous place to bring with me, but likely left quite a few … and probably lots of those little baby bulbs.
I need to get out and plant bulbs here. It's getting late! They should be in by the end of May. I've planted one very small area last weekend, but there is a lot more to go. It will be mid-June before I'm finished, I'm sure.

Our King-sized Bed …
After spending several months in Europe and becoming familiar with the beds in many of the hotels and B&Bs there, my husband and I decided to get a "European" bed.
In Europe, many of the beds were two twin beds joined together into a king-sized bed. Each side of the bed had their own sheets and blankets. It was an ideal setup for us!
So that's what we got. 😃
The two twin beds (shown in the picture), are joined by two little pieces of metal so that they don't move apart.
The twin bed on the right has a firm mattress (mine) and the twin bed on the left has a medium mattress (husband's).
When we had them together (attached by those 2 little pieces of metal) we used king-sized sheets and blankets so it was all one bed.
But there are several great things about this setup.
- Twin boxes and twin mattresses are much, much easier to move than a king-size bed that's all in one piece.
- We can each have mattresses we want. And if we want to change one of the twin mattresses, it's less expensive and less hassle to change out one twin mattress.
- We can separate them! And that's exactly what we've done. Ever since my husband's accident a little over 7 years ago, we've shared a bedroom, but we have slept in separate beds because it works better for us.

Good morning,
I honestly don't know how they manage when I am not at work. SMH! I can't tell you what I actually got accomplished at work other than answering questions. Oh well.
Had my eye appt yesterday evening. I have been having a hard time seeing out of right eye especially. The scar tissue from cataract surgery has gotten bad. They will lazer that out of right eye on June 17th. Made my DH eye appt plus my followup as well. SIL says none of us has time to work between appointments-lol!
Pip- continued hugs held tight.
My weight is still steady. But this too shall pass. At least not continuing to go up.
Love all the support and suggestions!
Take care of yourselves! You are all worthy!
❤️,
Kylia

Carol - V WELL DONE CALLIE!!! 👏 That takes a lot of dedication.
Well, my trip to Hove centre did not work out how I intended. The first repair shop refused to replace my battery, because the old one was still ticking. I know how long they last and mine is coming up for replacement. I walked around the corner and the nice man in the twin shop was open to my pleading, and did replace the battery. When I exited into the street, the watch had stopped working! When I went back in, he took it apart, but couldn't get it to work. So ...... I've got to send it in for a service. 😫 I'm the kind of person who looks at her watch every five minutes! I'm bereft without one. He said I could easily buy a cheap digital watch nearby, while mine was sent away for repair, (three weeks! ) but I tried every possible shop in the street, and no-one stocked them. Amazon to the rescue! I have one arriving tomorrow for less than £10. Phew!
Tesco had everything I wanted in the food line, but that shop annoys me soooo much.
One victory today, is that I was able to shop from my own house for a bowl for the side table in my bedroom. I've been debating what to put on there, and my glass jewellery bowl I tried looked too 'busy', but I spied a salad bowl that my son had once given me for Christmas, at my request. It turned out to be too big for salad, so it's been languishing in our old bedroom, by the TV. It's perfect for my new room. It's by Susie Cooper, and goes really well with my decor. The ribbing matches the lampshade and the new wardrobe knobs. 😀
Do any of you find that you can get a new look by just switching things around, changing room placements etc? I think we get used to things in the same place and we don't see them any more.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Amazon keeps trying to get me signed up for Prime, but nope. No Prime for me. I don't use Amazon very often.
Fortunately, we still have free TV in Australia and if we don't like what's on, I have picked up a decent DVD collection mostly from tip shops and OP shops for a few dollars here and there.
As for reading, I use Libby (thanks Barbie for bringing Libby to my attention) and occasionally my paper and ink, in-person library. I was buying books from tip shops and OP shops (and still do now and then), but since I've discovered Libby, there has been no need.
Lisa … 30 books a month is amazing!! According to Libby, I read a book in about 6 hours on average. I would be working, reading and sleeping in order to get through 30 a month!
@Rosemarie2972 … sounds like you had a very nice holiday!
@pipcd34 … so sorry about Yogi.
@mcmillonmail … sorry you're having these headaches. I wouldn't be surprised if stress had something to do with it. Also think about your eyesight and rebound headaches.
For years I had bad headaches every single day. It got so I couldn't imagine going a day without a headache. But they've eased up in the past year.
Do any of you find that you can get a new look by just switching things around, changing room placements etc? I think we get used to things in the same place and we don't see them any more.
@cityjaneLondon … of course! I used to change things all the time in previous places I've lived and I'm still moving things here and there where we are now. I'm also not one who will necessarily use a room in the way it has been designated on the floor plan.
We are getting close to being able to use our garage as a gym. In fact, today, I started going through stuff in the garage. I'm hoping to spend about an hour out there a few times a week for a while. There is so much stuff stacked out there from our move.

Machka - I know! There are weekends he gets through four or five, depends on the weather. Things like Kindle Unlimited were meant for my husband, seriously. He reads on his phone at lunchtime when he's at work. When he's burning brush at home, he takes the book out with him and reads in between feeding the fire. If we were paying for his reading habit book by book, it would be in the hundreds of dollars monthly! We eat dinner in the living room, and I watch TV during and after dinner while I work on embroidery or crochet. He reads before, during (he takes the Kindle in the kitchen with him while he's cooking, or if I'm cooking, he sits down with it) and after, until bedtime. He has no problem with me talking or laughing, and responds if I engage him in conversation, so 🤷🏻♀️😀 Love our quiet evenings.
🛏️💤😴Regarding beds and mattresses - we have a 4-inch thick mattress pad on top of the mattress that came with the bed frame seven years ago now. Works for us for now. There is no bedroom in this house that would fit a king-sized bed, and we sleep on a queen-sized, which comes close to filling the room completely, just space for a bedside table on each side. If I were to refit another bedroom, it would be with lightweight furniture and bedframes that I could move by myself.
🧺Laundry in the washer, second load will go in shortly. That's the only ambition for today except some project work. If the sun actually comes out and dries things off a bit, I might be able to work outside a little this afternoon.
☔🌧️😹 It will just depend on what happens. It drizzled all evening yesterday, and is supposed to rain for all the daylight hours tomorrow… I'm going to need webbed feet if this keeps going! 🦆
🥚🐈⬛🛏️Egg just stayed inside all day yesterday - I couldn't even make my bed, as every time I went in there, she was curled up and comfy so I let her be. She's curled up beside me now on my sewing table, in the middle of my latest project, and that's going to have to change here in a minute.
🔌🧑🏻🔧Electrician coming by this afternoon to get an estimate on installing a 50-amp pole at the site of the little house, and putting in regular electricity as well for the greenhouse Corey wants to put up. Told him we won't be doing it until the end of summer, but need to know how much it will cost.
💓💓Cardiologist tomorrow, just the usual six-month visit. He won't be happy, because I'm still not letting them put me on blood thinners, so no heart surgery yet. Until the gastroenterologist does the gastric scope, where he goes through my stomach and down my small intestine to check for internal bleeding, I won't take blood thinners.
Later y'all…
Love,
Lisa in AR5 -
Good morning.
First night on the new mattress … I don't like it. My hands and arms were numb (falling asleep feeling) all night long. My back, however, did well. Husband is still in bed, so I'll see how he did later. We have to sleep in it 30 days before we can exchange for another.
You should have seen how much dust came out of the old box springs! Oh my. While the delivery guys were working at the speed of light, I did get a quick vacuum before the new foundation was placed. We have never allowed the dogs in our bedroom (my allergies), I vacuum regularly and the dust was still disgusting. Of course, the bathroom project contributed with drywall dust, but still. We have wall to wall carpet and I'm rethinking that for the future.
New cell phones are glitching … not everything transferred correctly. Trying to verify the cell carrier account with a text code and the cell carrier keeps trying to send to an iPad number. Sigh. You would think they knew not to do that. Not all phone trades registering on the bill. Billing errors. I'll be on the phone today with them.
Pool guys were here bright and early and are just finishing up the season opening of our pool. So far things seem to be going well. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Did a lot outside yesterday (mowing, weeding around young shrubs, weed eating) and my muscles are still shaky this morning. Even though it's battery operated, the weed eater gets me every time. More evidence that I need to get back to exercise.
Shower door is to be delivered today. The toilet paper holder install didn't go well. ??? We even used their provided template which was wrong!! The shower door is the last thing and I'll be so glad when that project is done.
I think I've grumped enough.

Heather, that John of yours is so precious! I love how he loves the grandkids. I can see why they adore him.
Congratulations to your granddaughter, Carol. I am not surprised at all that she received this honor.
Yes, the senior trip is still on, minus one parent chaperone. He is not in jail, but he is no longer in town, and there is a no contact order in place. I told my son he must be on absolutely best behavior and not cause the parent any concern and be helpful. He's planning a couple meals he can make, and he promised to behave impeccably.
That's about all that's going on here. Weather has been lovely! I should get my car back this Friday after nearly two weeks in the body shop. It's been nice not driving, but I'm a wreck as a passenger, so I have avoided going out at all. I've had hot chai delivered to me from every other driver in the house at least once over the last 10 days. Lol
Much love.

😀 Carol, your granddaughter is awesome.

😀 Lisa, electricity in the greenhouse—-what a great plan.
😀 Kim, thanks for the suggestion about no stuff squeaker toys. One arrived yesterday and Annie loves it.
😀 Book suggestion: Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz The book is great and it's been made into a TV series (I think on PBS Masterpiece).
🌞 Warm today….lots of people walking early. I plan to take my tomato plant out of the container and plant it in the raised bed.

Good news from the certified arborist yesterday, mostly. The wound on our young Giant Sequoia was likely from a raccoon or squirrels. It did not go through the cambium layer. He saw no evidence, holes, sawdust etc to indicate a bark beetle infestation. A little natural dieback due to shade from surrounding Sitka spruces, but altogether not in danger. Hooray! IF we see another beetle, take a pic and send it to him. If, God forbid, it becomes infested, only “treatment” is to remove the tree ($600+) to save the rest of the forest. He noticed that what I thought was a white fir, was really a Douglas fir in decline, likely due drought. If it doesn’t survive the summer, it will likely stand ok though the winter before threatening the house. $1600 to take it down safely but leave the wood, more if we want him to clean up. Young, vigorous, knowledgeable and grew up over the next ridge, so I trust him. Did NOT take him around to the front, nor did I utter the words “defensible space.” Praying no nearby wild fires until after I get my teeth paid off.
Rita many many thanks for the daily funnies. Shared the “where I draw the line” with my line dancing buddy who’s laid low by a stroke. She’s an engineer so would really appreciate the maths…
Rosemarie so glad to see you popping in. Whooshing healing to your Mom.
Pip words fail. (hugs hugs hugs)
I’m STILL sore around the middle from Monday’s Clasic Fit class, but will pull up my big girl panties and go again this morning. Only partway through pg 24.
