JUNE 2025 Monthly Running Challenge

JUNE 2025 Monthly Running Challenge
WARNING: Following this thread may be addictive; it gets very talkative...miss a day and you can be 50 posts behind. This is the most popular challenge on MFP. If you found us in the middle (or end) of the month, you're still very welcome to join in - no requirements or special invite needed. Once you post, that's it you're in. And yes, we do this every month.
You set your own pace and distance for the month. We will all be doing it together. This is your virtual running group to help keep you accountable, to enjoy a virtual post-run coffee with your fellow runners, and to make new friends and learn a few things.
This is a continuation from the MAY 2025 Monthly Running Challenge which can be found at:
https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10933730/may-2025-monthly-running-challenge/p1?new=1
Anyone can join in, new and old, and if you found this thread late, you can join in at any time.
We have members ranging from total beginners all the way to Boston Qualifiers and beyond. We are a friendly and encouraging bunch. You never need to be ashamed of your miles. If you are making the effort, you will find only support here.
Here are the details from last month that apply again:
Anybody want to join in for a running challenge? Set a goal here and update us every day. OPTIONAL: You can post your progress by creating a ticker at http://www.tickerfactory.com (if creating one seems difficult, or you're like me and can't be bothered, then just type in your daily miles in this thread).
You can run, walk, or do treadmill - just be consistent. Don't let the high (or low) goals of others intimidate you. Some do 25 miles, others do 50, some go higher than that, some do lower; it's entirely your goal and therefore completely up to you. We help motivate each other, so what do you say? If you're new to running, set a low goal. If you're from a part of the world where miles aren't your thing, log your distances in KMs. And if you'd rather log your progress by time rather than distance, then you're entirely free to do that as well.
Feel free to set your goal now but wait until JUNE 1, 2025 to start logging your runs!
Also, don't forget to join our group which can be found at:

After you run, come into this thread and post what you did (don't forget to hit the bookmark in the upper right corner to bookmark this thread). Simply keep a running tally of what you've done this month and interact with the others. Many folks come in here and chit-chat it up, even on their rest days or while recouping from injury. This is a very social group and we talk about many things (sometimes even about running). It's a very friendly bunch here so don't be afraid to say hi (even if this is your first time), talk about a recent or up-coming race, ask questions, provide answers, or just lurk-n-learn. Participation is what makes this group successful.
Not quite sure how to log your runs? Follow the examples of many other challenge members. Even take a peek at last month's thread (posted above).
OPTIONAL TICKER******
Info on tickers since I know there will be questions. Sign up for an account at http://www.tickerfactory.comandcreate your ticker. Then you need to update it after you finish a run and post it here. Here is what you will need to do.
After setting up your ticker, you will need to make note of the weblink they give you so you can return. An example would be:
http://www.tickerfactory.com/exercise/w6K1EiX/ <<<< the last part will be a part of the image link (explained below) that will be supplied to you after you initially create your link.
When you return to TickerFactory with the weblink, go to your settings page. Make sure you type your PIN in that you set when you created your ticker account. Then, where it says "Your current cumulative value", there is an add button. Simply add the distance that you just did, and the cumulative value automatically changes. Then hit next.
After adding your new miles (or KMs) to your ticker, you need to post it here.
After you hit next, it will give you a bunch of codes suggesting how to display your ticker.
Use the one at the bottom where it says Direct Image URL:
It will look something like:
http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/t/w6K1EiX/exercise.png
To display that correctly in your post, make sure you place the image (img) tags around that link. So it will look something like the following (but removing the spaces in the img tags):
[ img ] http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/t/w6K1EiX/exercise.png [ /img ]
^^^^^^^ Don't forget to remove the spaces between the brackets ^^^^^^^^^^
Some key things to pay attention to when posting your ticker:
Use the link that ends in .png
Remember the [ img] and [ /img] tags go in between the link
Remove the spaces in the img tags before posting
YES, there is a / in the second /img tag
By the way, everyone here should consider themselves a runner no matter how fast or slow. There's no judgment, we all started somewhere. And no comparisons, except with your former self. Don't compare your Chapter 1 to somebody else’s Chapter 20.
“I often hear someone say I’m not a real runner. We are all runners, some just run faster than others. I never met a fake runner.” – Bart Yasso
“The man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.” – Confucius
"We all know that if you run, you are pretty much choosing a life of success because of it.” – Deena Kastor
“Most people run a race to see who is fastest. I run a race to see who has the most guts.” – Steve Prefontaine
“Get going … walk if you have to, but finish the damned race.” – Ron Hill
"If you run, you are a runner. It doesn’t matter how fast or how far. It doesn’t matter if today is your first day or if you’ve been running for twenty years. There is no test to pass, no license to earn, no membership card to get. You just run." - John Bingham
You may see some phrases / words that are unique to our little group when it comes to describing some of our runs. It is a mash-up of words that seem to best describe the way the run felt that day. Here are some examples. Feel free to come up with your own to add to the dictionary 😃
'sleasy' - Slow and Easy
'sneasy' - Slow Not Easy
'scrappy' - mix of Slow and Crappy
'wun' - mix of Walking and Running
'wog' - mix of Walking and Jogging
Difference between running and jogging. Joggers find dead bodies. Every news article will always print: 'jogger found dead body', 'out jogging, found a dead body.' Never does it say a 'runner' found a dead body. Only joggers find dead bodies.
'boyfriend run' - 12.1 mins per mile is the perfect 'run date' speed
'girlfriend run' - you better keep up, no matter what the speed
Stay safe. Stay healthy. Stay on track. Don't look back!

FIRST!
wow, guess that means I need to set a goal. Lets start with logging food daily, fetch my bike from storage, & 20 miles walking for the month.
Thanks for setting us up @AlphaHowls

Already? 225km goal.
Thanks for setting us up @AlphaHowls

I will try 1 mile per day, 5 days a week, so I guess 20 miles for the month. I will also try to increase my time each run. It will be a wun most likely. Also hoping to go from 155lbs to 150lbs. I've been stuck at 155 for a while.

sometimes the ticker she work and sometimes she donut… 😳🤨 Goal for June. 100 miles. Maybe try to get a couple of 2 pers in if the weather cooperates. nice to see @swenson19d first!!!!

Thank you for setting up June @AlphaHowls!
I won’t set a distance goal, will do what I can when I can. Will linger and like/hug/inspire as we move through June. Ankle still swelling up on and off, but heading more towards off these days. Have done some intentional walking, but haven’t even bothered to keep track of late.
Husband’s hip replacement surgery is this coming Monday. Will be a long month of caring for him. He doesn’t tolerate pain well. We’ll see how it goes having him home 24/7 and in pain. It’ll be ok…. (She keeps telling herself).

Welcome @reyoflightphoto . Sounds like a great goal.
@daria0919 I am inspired that you do what you do. I hope your husband's surgery goes well and heals quickly with little pain!
I'm going to set my goal for 70 miles this month. I'll be on vacation for a week with my mom and two aunts. While I plan to keep up my streak, I'm not sure how much time I will have for running. 80 miles will be my stretch goal.

I think I’m getting nearer to where I was this time last year. My mileage is certainly closer which means it’s to 100 mile club for me, otherwise known as 40km a week. Just have to get my speed back up about another 15 seconds per kilometre (no boyfriend pace here, I’m just working on that girlfriend pace).
5 -
I’ve just taken a deeper dive into my stats, and while 40km a week is where I was this time last year, at my peak fitness back in 2020 I averaged over 50km a month! I did have a trainer pushing me and boy did it pay off. Perhaps I should get him back if just to ensure I do some speed work. Or perhaps not. Who wants to run a sub 1:45 half anyway? 😬 🤔 😌

I'm only running 20days this month. Fly out on Fri 20th for family trip to Singapore, Malaysia + Indonesia for a 3 weeks- so will 'run see' when/where I can.
On that basis... Going for 120 miles.
7 -
As always thanks for setting up @AlphaHowls 😊
And love the addition of 12.1 mins per mile boyfriend run. ( @SummerSkier will now do anything to avoid finishing a run at that pace 😂😂)
@daria0919 hope surgery goes well on Monday 🤞🏽🙏🏽

OK - I posted in May but add me to the injured reserve probably for June but I am going to set a goal of walking 20 miles probably mostly toward the end of the month.
Well yesterday was most likely my last day running for a few weeks. We shall take it day by day. I started a run after the rainy morning about noon and tripped on a rock a qtr mile down the road. A group of neighbors were gathered a few feet up on the sidewalk so it probably looked spectacular! Anyway, I did the flailing arms and legs and even cut my left shin with my right foot slightly and managed to stay upright but I bruised the side/outside/top of my foot pretty darn good. I tried to run it off at first but quickly realized it was going to be something more significant and walk another qtr mile back to the house. It took quite a long while for the bruise to come up and while it was happening I thought it was my ankle and not my foot. But I must have taken a step on the outside of my foot somehow banging it pretty good. So my challenge now is walking… 😳💪 But I decided not to mope about it and use it as an opportunity to see what my maintance really is with little to no cardio. It does not hurt when I am not putting steps on it which is good and means sleep is fine and sitting around at work will be ok also. I just hate being inactive and I am sure fitbit is going to curse at me loudly for lack of any activity for a while.
Want to take bets on how many days/weeks this takes to ease up for a jog? As you can see the swelling and bruising is limited and it has grown overnight in size since I took this picture 4 hrs post injury. but my toes and foot mobility are good and I don't feel anything "crackling around" so I am going to wait this one out from drs for a few days yet
Today's photo. Perhaps this will replace my flower photos!

@tarun_yadavA thanks! Hubby’s prepping things this weekend for his surgery Monday. Kind thoughts and wishes appreciated.
@SummerSkier OUCH!! So very sorry to hear about your fall. Lots of icing and elevating at first. ((HUGS))
4 -
You're doing great @ContraryMaryMary ! I would love to run a sub 2:45 HM! 🤣 I'm still working on getting to a boyfriend pace. I'm sure if you put your mind to it, you can get a sub 1:45.
@SummerSkier I hope you heal quickly. Hopefully it is just a bad bruise that will heal faster than you think! Just remember @PastorVincent 's advice and give it another 2 days after you think you are okay.

Thanks for setting us up @AlphaHowls!
I am going to set a goal of 140 miles again. I have exceeded that the last two months, but being laid off at the beginning of April gave me more time for running. Since I am starting a new job on Monday I think my mileage will be down a bit from the last two months and back to my typical mileage.
@SummerSkier I think your foot is looking better. Hope it feels better soon, but don't rush it.
5 -
@AlphaHowls Thank you!🙏
I’m going for 70 miles for the month. I’m not sure yet if I’m going to run 2moro. We have a family day out planned & I would need to get up earlier than I’d like to for a Sunday if I want to fit all the morning stuff in before we leave. So we will see 😅
4 -
I will keep 200 miles
5 -
I'm traveling the first 2 weeks of the month but hoping to get a few runs in. I think I will set a 75 mile goal so I have a chance of getting there.
3 -
Careful, with your recent "unwanted attention" posts, these foot pics may bring in a whole new category of "friends" :)
I hope you heal up quickly.
4 -
Like @daria0919 I'm not going to set a mileage goal for the month. I'm traveling for a couple of weeks and although it will be an active vacation not sure how much of it will be running.
@chris_in_cal lol - so true! I can see those feet fetish people coming!
2 -
I'm in for a slightly increased 175km for June & thanks again for setting up @AlphaHowls!
My Dr. said he's good with me running as long as my nerve problem doesn't get worse, hopefully physio next week helps.
Hope all goes smoothly with your husband's surgery Monday @daria0919!@chris_in_cal 😂 on @SummerSkier's new potential friends!
2 -
June is off to a great start with a 15k long run at a very respectable clip. Actually, I ran a little more as I needed 15.67 to get 40km for the week 🤪

.
@Teresa502 @chris_in_cal LOL at the foot fetish comments 😂😂😂
@martaindale have a great trip to South Africa! ... I'm sure you'll get something in.
Cape Town is great for running
