Why did my calorie goal drop so much overnight?

Hi all, just wondering if anyone can explain this to me. I am not new to calorie counting but I’m fairly new to my fitness pal. Yesterday I updated my weight, I had lost .8 pounds, and then noticed that my starting weight was 5 pounds lower than my highest. To see a more accurate reflection of what I’ve lost I updated it to say my starting weight was 5 pounds higher. So literally in all my weight record changed less than 6 pounds, but my calorie goal is now 400 calories less than before. That’s a huge change to happen overnight. It’s really not that crazy to achieve with activity and I know I can change it myself but I would like to follow their guidance, if it’s correct. Any ideas why it would change so much overnight? Thank you!

Did you change your "activity level" or your rate of loss? For each one-half pound of weight loss in the "Weight loss rate" section, you'll lose 250 calories.

Could be either one of those things.

Set it to "Lose 1 pound per week" if you have less than 50 pounds to lose but more than 20. If you have less than 20 pounds to lose, choose, "Lose 1/2 pound per week."

Stick with it for 4-6 weeks and then adjust if your results don't match you Goal. . . that's the only way to find a calorie level that's right for you.

I had this happen to me as well (I think it's a glitch). It made absolutely no sense to me so I readjusted myself manually lol. I am continuing to loose weight (so far) following the original cal number .
