Carol - If you've been on anti-depressants for many years, I'm sure you know that being off of them now may be why you're having such issues dealing with things. But it does sound like it might be worth the hassle to get a new doctor lined up. Fighting for our own health is just part of the picture now, I guess.
Heather - I use the estradiol cream every other night before bed. If I don't, things start to fall apart rapidly. I never used any form of hormone replacement after the full hysterectomy in 2001, and my body wasn't too happy about that, it turns out! It's a pain, as they don't have pessaries, but not nearly as painful as things were a few years back. Seemed like everything between my ribcage and my knees went sideways all at once there.
Tracey - Congratulations on walking to get that diploma. So proud of you for all the work - and well done to your family for all showing up for you. As far as mine, I know, right? 😂 Poor Mrs. Curtis. She despaired of me—and was even unhappier when I won the Betty Crocker/General Mills Homemaker of the Year Award my senior year. Beat out all her pet students to get it. But they put me in front of a test to compete for it rather than a sewing machine, and I underSTOOD tests! Not sewing machines, so much. My mother laughed herself sick. 😲🦹🏻♀️
I'm going to ferry a cup of coffee in to my beloved husband here shortly and then hie myself up to the Farmer's Market, just around the corner from me. I want to get some fresh eggs, and if anyone has cucumbers, might buy some of those. Corey's tired of storebought pickles - they oversalt them terribly, and he eats them in his lunch every day.
Feel like I'm walking in clown shoes, these orthopedic trainers are a very wide toe box, which is comfortable from the inside, but I tend to bump my feet on each other while I'm walking still. They're not bad looking though, as tennis shoes go. Could be worse.
Later, y'all,
Love,
Lisa in AR9 -
😀 Tracey, congrats on your graduation. Great photos.
😀 Carol, Annie is still too much for my dancing friend to handle. She jumps up and has strong jaws and I don't feel safe leaving her with someone yet. She gets better all the time so one day it will work to have someone watch her.
😀 Lorna, I read a lot of cozy mysteries set in Maine but I've never been there. We usually sign our posts with name and location because none of us can remember without help. Maintaining good eating is tricky with others in the house. After my husband died I lost 7 pounds in three months just because there were not more treats in the house and no one saying "do you want a cookie?"
😀 At the eye doctor, the receptionist asked if I was paying with cash or card so I asked her if many people pay with cash. She told me that some do and it's frustrating when they have hundred dollar bills because the business is challenged providing change. They also take checks. My dentist gives a 5% discount if you pay by cash or check.
😀 Dancing with my friend yesterday. Annie does better each week but she likes the attention so we have to stop and throw a ball or put her on a leash for a few minutes to calm her. As soon as my friend left, Annie got on the back of the couch and went to sleep. Yesterday I washed panel 10 of the 22 on the fence. It's great for bending.
😀 It looks like I'll be ending the month averaging just over 14,000 steps a day. At the end of the day, I'll start the new thread for June.

Have you gone off your anti depressants quickly or did you slowly wean off them?
1 -
Machka ~ I weaned off the meds. Most of the time I am OK unless life throws me a curb ball which it has done several times lately. I am looking into the health providers under my insurance and will make a decision sometimes soon.

The watchmender rang to say the watch was ready for collection! Previously, he had said 2-3 weeks, which is why I bought the digital watch. 🙄 He also said I could buy a digital watch in the street, which I couldn't. Not sure he has a firm grasp on reality. 😝
I can't collect it until Tuesday, as we have the girls on Monday. No problem. I'm wondering whether Max would like my digital watch. It was less than £10, but it's a shame to let it languish in a drawer.
I'm going to be ringing my friend L soon, unless she cancels because of her cough. She's got antibiotics and steroids for it. I will probably have to listen to her hacking. 😂
I've prepped dinner already. Sea bass with roasted cauliflower and sauce vierge. Two loads of laundry. Bed stripped and half made. Half, because I haven't got another duvet set. I was hesitating over buying a second one, for economy reasons, but John said he wanted a new valance sheet, so I grasped the opportunity, and ordered mine at the same time. I can sleep one night under a sheet! I really love the 800 count duvet cover, with Oxford pillow cases. I don't have a tumbler dryer though, and it takes a while to dry.
Still haven't finished my chair. 😳

WTG Tracey and GOOD for you showing off your pictures! You deserve being SEEN!!! You worked hard. 🎉
Pip, I am so sorry about Yogi. I've watched him grow with you and Kirby for so many years. He's such a darling. Lacy, Nick and Kolten did the same with Sadie, Shawn's lab, at their home. It was so tender and heartwarming. She was so loved and wasn't frightened at all. You'll know when you know, but that's so danged hard. 💔
Welcome newbies and vets! I'm reading everything, just no time in the day to comment on everyone during the week and so hard to keep track. Love y'all!Our big excitement! Deck's done! (well sorta) It's always "something" 🙄 Good Lord. Apparently, with all of the "act of God" rain that we got a couple weeks ago, three of our footings sunk. Yeah, sunk. smh. They're going to be able to fix them and they're not the ones holding up the main deck… they're out on the stairs and outer landing. So, they'll use some foam-stuff that they use to pump up concrete on top (???) and then cover it with a thin layer of concrete to make it look like it's "natural". hahaha! Okay.
Mommy and Daddy "gave" us this beautiful deck replacement with their money. You can kinda see that the lawn needs a LOTTA work so some more of their money will be going to that. And ^^^ that tree is going to have to come down. (speaking of trees) 😭 It was one of my favorites. My white squirrels loved that tree. Oh well. We'll have to plant another something over there for them. Anyway, we can enjoy the deck in the meantime.Love and Blessings

I have been pushing to cut back the last 4 yrs. She agrees we need to but then when it comes time to actually plant,she changes her mind and wants to plant more, so she can share.
I cut back the amount of each type of plant by 3/4 on most things. Instead of planting full flats of each kind of tomato, I planted just 10 plants(instead of 24). Last year we had 5 100ft rows of tomatoes- this year there will not be even 2 I don't think(depends on what the neighbor plants-there are a few empty rows but those should be for the broccoli/cauliflower/cabbage
It would have been a smaller garden but the neighbors came and helped.I think it would be fine to not plant any of the main garden and just use the raised beds unless we were planting things like the popcorn or sweet corn.

Today is my sisters birthday. She started on Zepbound May 1st and has lost 10 lbs. I started May 15th and have lost 8 lbs. Both of us feeling better!
Heres us on my birthday 6/2023 and us today 5/2025.
We dressed alike unintentionally! We snapped this photo then she sent and changed.😂.
My short haircut gives the illusion of a slimmer face! Or my face is actually getting slimmer. I won't really notice a change until I am 20 or so lbs lost.
Hugs ladies!

G'day everyone!
The rain has returned, AGAIN. I have a condition called Ankylosing Spondylitis (diagnosed at age 27) and the bad weather really makes my body ache. We've been getting a ton of rain this spring and it's really wearing on me. At least I have no plans for today other than curl up and wait for it to go away. Although I should get an extra gym day in because we are taking my middle son out to dinner after church tomorrow for his 33rd birthday.
Tracey: You were just a hop, skip and jump away. My dad grew up right on the border (Houlton, Me) but I never ventured over other than a visit to Niagra as a kid.
Carol: Thank you. The kid keeps me motivated. He is biologically my 1st born grandson, and we adopted him when he was an infant. His parents were both just barely 17 and ill-prepared. He knows my middle son is his dad, but his role is more of an uncle. Same with his mother. He alternates between calling me mom and G-ma.
I think I'm going to binge watch some Netflix today. Any recommendations? I just finished Supernatural last week. That was a long series!
Warm regards,
Lorna in Maine

Rebecca I tried watching Brilliant Minds, but it was a little too dark for me. ;{
Belated welcome back @LSamara Lorna, and brava for the green belt! Night time snacking is the downfall of many here, especially me ;}
Rosemarie thanks for “Britain’s Most Historic Towns” and”Hidden Villages” I can watch on Amazon Prime in the man cave ;}
Heather, neither have I ever heard of personal card readers, but then again I still write paper checks. Hahaha
Lisa good luck finding a contractor that will give you a detailed breakdown. I’ve never succeeded, if you do, share your magic?
Machka I love that Data is among the things that make you happy. That whole post is such a great introduction to our newbies. Well done!
Barbie thanks for the info about the 100ft stainless steel hose being lighter than the rubber one. Have been using some light weight ones from grocery outlet but they don’t last and cost nearly as much as the 50ft stainless one on sale. Also thanks for the Silensys E7 Active Noise Cancelling Headphones Bluetooth Headphones with Microphone Deep Bass Wireless Headphones Over Ear, recommendation. Just can’t stand ear buds so may try these. Really relieved your eye doctor said a few more years for cataract surgery. Hoping mine says the same in November. So many have said they see so much better afterwards, but then there are those who had complications, scar tissue, etc. Not eager for eye surgery, me.
Kim I’m right there with you on the doing everything by phone. I keep absolutely no financial info on my phone and only shop from my laptop that is Ethernet connected with the wifi radio turned OFF.
Debbie hope that neighbor’s crew’s seeds are only for personal use and not for product sale… ;}
Lanette satellite here has always been unreliable due to the mountains and trees. Don’t mind paying Spectrum for now as their cell undercarrier (Verizon) has the fewest dead zones in Curry County. Calls still drop between home and town. If we get into a pinch I’ll reconsider Beacon Broadband/Roku and Consumer Cellular but for now I don’t have to sacrifice convenience and reliability for cost. Would you please put Alex and his crew in the transporter? We need them here. 9300 steps? Bravissima!
@mspianomistress, good to see you popping in. Would you remind me what you’d like to be called and your general locale?
Lisa I look forward to pics of the coat. You are so right about how fighting for our own health is just reality now, and have been a sterling example for us to follow.
Tracey love love love the graduation pics. Well done!!! What Heather said about your education degree being useful for this training opportunity. Fingers X’d it grows into a niche job for you in quieter circumstances ;) 130 km/hr ? That’s around 80 mph/hr. Around here we get nervous for the next four days when winds will range from 40 mph steady to 60 mph gusts.
Heather Belgian chocolate ice cream, yum. My favorite is Ben & Jerry’s NY Super Fudge Chunk. Have two pints stashed in Joe’s freezer, in case of emergency ;}
Carol, you’re right, changing dr’s is not easy, but can you get a second opinion for the cost of one visit with a new dr? ((hugs held extra long))
Carla, sorry you’ll lose a favorite tree. Deck looks great!
Debbie really hope next year your mom will choose to limit her plantings to just the raised beds. If the neighbors want a garden, could they lease a half or whole acre from her?
That Rhodie isn’t going to prune itself, time to get up off my butt.
Later, lighter, lovelies!

Talked to G as L wasn't available. Just needed a bit of outside contact. :-)
Watched a whole bunch of travelogues tonight. Australia/Tasmania, Norway/Iceland, and the Danube. All different, but I enjoyed them all. We are rationing our Scott and Bailey to one a night. And I can't watch it last thing as it hooks into my brain. Superbly done and wonderful writing. Only four left now.
John's sister is thinking she might be around for lunch or dinner on Friday. I don't know why she is down here, but it would be lovely to see her. We will see what transpires. A mystery.
I will do my roots tomorrow. I will. Then Waitrose. While John is out I'm going to make a veal stew. To finish with cream. Served with English asparagus.
I also want to make a start on the orange cake for my son. You have to boil the orange first.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Tracey … Congratulations!! I am so glad you decided to walk the stage and get your diploma. You worked hard for it!
Debbie … Finding quality care for care homes whether they're private or part of an organization is definitely an industry wide problem. As much as you will hate stirring things up with your husband, it makes sense to have a "Plan B" in mind should your MIL's current facility not be an option. And that plan cannot include taking her home again. Have your name/application in at other facilities in your area. You can always say "not at this time" if they call. The garden is amazing, by the way!
Lanette … you most definitely do NOT want to jump into my pool today. It's in the 40s and raining here. Miserable day. I do not get the Misfit boxes anymore but I am continuing with the local farm that delivers local produce when in season and works with a distributor during the winter. The farm has taken two weeks off from deliveries as they get their farm and greenhouses cleaned and running for the growing season. I've been back to buying from the grocery store and have found that the farmer's produce and the distributor's produce has been much better tasting than what I've had to buy. So I'll continue with the delivered boxes. Looking forward to what they'll offer during the growing season.
Carol … I'm so sorry you've been having stressful days. Getting your medications sorted out shouldn't be such a hassle. Praying you find a new doctor who can help you soon.
Lorna … welcome. Be watching for Barbie's link to next month's thread.
Barbara … the new mattress continues to be a problem. I have 26 more nights before I can return the thing. My husband feels awful about it because he's sleeping well for the first time in years, but is upset that I'm not. Given his back has been a disaster and he's facing probably his 4th surgery soon, I feel awful that I can't sleep in the bed. I hear you on changing cell carriers. We stayed with the current carrier, but I spent Thursday on the phone negotiating prices. Amazing what phone calls can do when you say "cancel." We will now be spending $25.00 less each month for 3 lines than we were after the new phones/service. Prior to my call, they had us significantly higher. Trying to do the same with internet/tv. Have only been able to drop $15 so far, but we're going to reduce package level soon, so will make some headway there.
Machka … I suggested a split King. He wasn't keen on it, but we'll see what's available when we finish our month.
My husband and son went to a Trout Festival today … yes you read that right. Seems they overate at Sonic on the way home, so they don't want dinner. Yay! No cooking.
I'm ready for June!

😮 I cheated slightly on my fence washing project. It has been so cold and drizzly today I didn't want to work outside, but I didn't want to break the streak either. It got a bit warmer a few minutes ago, so I put on my coat and decided to save the last inside panel that was the most awkward to reach and the dirtiest. Instead I washed the outside of the first panel which took less than half the time.

I find the shows with intricate plots, like "Trent" or "Matlock" or "Watson" so entertaining. Yes "Brilliant Minds" is really sad and dark regarding his relationship with his father, and the effects it had on him.😥💖
