I used no sodium beef boullion from Herb-Ox instead of Beef Broth to reduce sodium. I'm sure if you know how to make your own beef broth you could use the real thing and avoid the excess salt in store bought brands.
Ingredients
3 large onions, sliced (3 cups)
3 tablespoons margarine or butter, melted
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon low sodium Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon pepper
4 cans (14 1/2 ounces each) ready-to-serve beef broth
1 Mix onions and margarine in 3 1/2- to 6-quart slow cooker.
2 Cover and cook on high heat setting 30 to 35 minutes or until onions begin to slightly brown around edges.
*** I did the above steps in a frying pan....just seemed faster. Then I threw already browned onions into the slow cooker and did the rest.
3 Mix flour, Worcestershire sauce, sugar and pepper. Stir flour mixture and broth into onions. Cover and cook on low heat setting 7 to 9 hours (or high heat setting 3 to 4 hours) or until onions are very tender.
************Cheesy Bread Topping*****************
Not included in above nutrition.
So, usually this would have toasted french bread with cheese on top. But I've seen a ton of recipes that substitute. Hungry Girl uses low calorie bread (like Sara lee 45 calorie slices). I decided to use mini baguettes loafs and make smaller bread slices. This is why I didn't include the topping, because it can vary depending on how you decide to make it.

Ooops It was 1 tsp of sugar. I didn't put any in the soup though, that's why I left it out of the list. Forgot to take it out of the directions though. Sorry!0
