This is absolutely inspired, and I saved a copy of it in my photos! I think a lot of us needed to hear this today.
Still fighting this cold, but I think I turned a corner. I did have a glass of wine with dinner, after my NA drink. I thought it would just be maybe half a glass to kill off the bottle, but it was closer to a standard drink. Oh well. Off to bed for hopefully a good night’s sleep!7 -
Quick check in…2 days AF…closing in on being over 1/2. Definite planned AF today. Phew. I needed this break.
Make it a great day, y'all!!

Still going AF. Went outside for an early run/walk and caught myself thinking it's too hot to run this morning. I challenged that blocking thought and decided to run in a different direction with my back to the sun and did it. 75 minutes. Got home, and my thoughts blocked me again when I contemplated jumping on my exercise bike for a bit of "add on" exercise. My thoughts said I was stuffy and still sick, go have a coffee instead. I said I have a better idea, let's have coffee while we ride the bike. So 13 miles done, a bit of an extra calorie burn.
Now I just have to practice stopping the compulsive after-meal eating of sweets. This has become as hard as quitting drinking. I have to think about eating something else instead and switch that habit to something better.

@Womona has a great suggestion of having an AF drink first. This really helps me, even if it is a full glass of water. When I get my hands on a beer at the end of the day, I suck that thing down like a cowboy who’s been lost in the desert and reach for another!
last night I celebrated a professional milestone by having my favorite cocktail. I am proud that I only had one!

Hi everyone - I have been reading these comments and would like to join in the conversation. I too enjoy my Michelob Ultra and Kendall Jackson Chardonney but they add so many calories. I need to lose about 25 pounds and my eating habits are not bad. I don't consume sodas nor sugary snacks. However, it is difficult to go AF when my husband drinks beer everyday. Joining a bit late but better late than never.

Jthanmyfitnesspal well done with only one cocktail!

@mgdavis63 A big welcome!
What @itladyee said too!5 -
@LittleSurferGirl7 Big hugs to you. Just know that we're all thinking about you. Would your husband consider moving back to place where you could socialize a bit? I know here in Florida there are a LOT of 55 and up communities that keep people actively involved with one another if they want to be. They all have clubhouses for social gatherings. Most have pools. Just a thought. It sucks to feel way.
I'm just trying to stay busy. I've noticed that when I'm not busy the "have a drink" devil taps on my shoulder. My grandma used to say "idleness is the devil's playground" or something like that.
Make today great, y'all!!!

@LittleSurferGirl7 when is your birthday?
I dream of living in a "large town" where I am not car dependent and can walk to get most of things I need. But I am totally car-dependent where I live. I can't imagine my life not driving, I do drive at least 30 miles a day, out and back to get to stuff - gym, orthodontist and all my other medical specialists, Trader Joes, discounted veg. market, the mall. I wish life could be like living in a large European town where people socialize in that town, hang out in the town park which usually has a cafe, and we walk a lot and ride our bikes and have lots of friends. Where does this exist in the USA?
On the anxiety topic, is that a major underlying reason for drinking and what is blocking progress? I think it was for me. One almost has to address the anxiety first even if it's alcohol caused (was in my case-that plus permenopause hormone discombobulation) to gain better success overcoming the drinking habit.

@mgdavis63 welcome!
Today I start off the morning thinking about what is my mini-goal for the next 14 hours before I go to bed. What can I accomplish in 14 hours, such a short time? Am I able to accomplish all my goals today? Yes, I can.
How many calories burned? Did I drink non-alcoholic healthy beverages instead of alcohol? Did I reduce the chocolate and sugar consumption? What activities do I have planned? What planned fun do I have for today?
It's all planning and implementing.I wish I could wake up and just have the perfect day but nothing happens automatically.

Time to do better…
Today was our neighborhood Olympic Event. It was a lot of fun and I did have wine during the festivities and wine at dinner afterwards.
No social events until Book Club so I should be able to tack on a few AF days in a row….

@LittleSurferGirl7 Happy Birthday!! I hope you celebrate and feel fantastic no matter what even if it's only just for today!
I went to the local brewery last night and had 2 beers. On the way home I ALMOST bought a bottle of wine, but I knew I would drink the whole thing, so I talked myself out of it. I had one of my son's craft beers from the fridge and went to bed. That's a win for me.
Hope all is well with you all!

Improvement this week but it was easy compared to last - 7 LESS glasses. I’ve also had mostly Italian Prosecco which has lower abv% and calories. Also completed a couple of my favorite gym classes and walked listening to podcasts.
Okay so I’m still cleaning my house top to bottom and need to do the windows and wood floors today.
Tonight is AF as I prepare to have my sister and her family arrive tomorrow. They will stay with us just two nights and two days. We do not “drink” together like we did several years ago. Must be getting older and wiser! Maybe one glass of wine with dinner.I’m looking forward to the calm after the storm! And my physical on Wednesday.
Happy Sunday all!

@LittleSurferGirl7 HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Hope you had a nice time and celebrate thru the weekend (I do that, why not). Or win some $$ at the casino.
Your story was quite interesting, and I believe it.
Last night I tried something new - I added a pinch of ground turmeric and powdered ginger (good quality one) to my lemon juice (Santa Cruz brand) and club soda(from a can so it's very fizzy). And it was a delicious drink - and very anti-inflammatory. Too bad it didn't help me get quality sleep. Still working on that.

Happy Monday!
This weekend, my husband and I enjoyed a County/Blues concert at our local casino. I stayed alcohol-free—something I haven’t done at a concert in a long time. It felt like a small but meaningful win.
We also had a family party to celebrate a birthday. Loved catching up, but I slipped into my old habit of social drinking and had a few beers. It’s something I’m working on—one step at a time.
Progress isn’t perfect, but I’m proud to be moving forward.

Happy belated birthday @LittleSurferGirl7 !!!
Welcome newbies!
Sounds like everyone is doing well. I had a successful weekend, only two drinks each day, which is a win. I had two glasses last night and probably will tonight as well due to dinner plans . However , I’ve been doing a great job of getting my stuff done! It feels amazing.4
