Time to do better…
Today was our neighborhood Olympic Event. It was a lot of fun and I did have wine during the festivities and wine at dinner afterwards.
No social events until Book Club so I should be able to tack on a few AF days in a row….

@LittleSurferGirl7 Happy Birthday!! I hope you celebrate and feel fantastic no matter what even if it's only just for today!
I went to the local brewery last night and had 2 beers. On the way home I ALMOST bought a bottle of wine, but I knew I would drink the whole thing, so I talked myself out of it. I had one of my son's craft beers from the fridge and went to bed. That's a win for me.
Hope all is well with you all!

Improvement this week but it was easy compared to last - 7 LESS glasses. I’ve also had mostly Italian Prosecco which has lower abv% and calories. Also completed a couple of my favorite gym classes and walked listening to podcasts.
Okay so I’m still cleaning my house top to bottom and need to do the windows and wood floors today.
Tonight is AF as I prepare to have my sister and her family arrive tomorrow. They will stay with us just two nights and two days. We do not “drink” together like we did several years ago. Must be getting older and wiser! Maybe one glass of wine with dinner.I’m looking forward to the calm after the storm! And my physical on Wednesday.
Happy Sunday all!

@LittleSurferGirl7 HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Hope you had a nice time and celebrate thru the weekend (I do that, why not). Or win some $$ at the casino.
Your story was quite interesting, and I believe it.
Last night I tried something new - I added a pinch of ground turmeric and powdered ginger (good quality one) to my lemon juice (Santa Cruz brand) and club soda(from a can so it's very fizzy). And it was a delicious drink - and very anti-inflammatory. Too bad it didn't help me get quality sleep. Still working on that.

Happy Birthday to you @LittleSurferGirl7! I hope you enjoyed your special day doing what you love.

Thanks @chicbuc, @globalhiker and @Michieb125 I did have a nice day. I didn't go gambling. We just hung out. The weather was nice. Although, it got a bit hot in the afternoon. We grilled some jumbo shrimp and small lobster tails with a small salad on the side.
You all seem to be right on track with your goals. As you know, I don't like to predict when my Day 1 will be…every time I do, I end up being a liar. But, I will be on board with all of you soon! 👍

Happy Monday!
This weekend, my husband and I enjoyed a County/Blues concert at our local casino. I stayed alcohol-free—something I haven’t done at a concert in a long time. It felt like a small but meaningful win.
We also had a family party to celebrate a birthday. Loved catching up, but I slipped into my old habit of social drinking and had a few beers. It’s something I’m working on—one step at a time.
Progress isn’t perfect, but I’m proud to be moving forward.

Thanks @RubyRed427 I did have a nice day. I haven't been posting in the challenge because I haven't been weighing. I can tell that I haven't lost any weight. But I will soon. I need to quit drinking first.
We bought a new Ego lawn mower that is really awesome. Last year, we had a guy doing our yard work. But, by using a mower on multiple yards, you end up getting everyone else's weeds. So, we decided to start doing it ourselves again. That will add lots of steps and will buildup some strength. The only thing is my husband and I are going to be fighting over who gets to mow the lawn 😀 I do the edging. I just need to keep up on it. We mow every Tuesday. I may not edge every Tuesday. But I need to do it at least every other week.
@chicbuc You're doing very well this month. It seems like you had been struggling the last couple of months. I'm proud of your progress. Keep it up!
I don't like announcing when I predict my Day 1 will be. But I'm hoping it will be tomorrow. Shhhh! Don't tell anyone 🙂 I'm glad you like my stories. I'll try to sneak one in here and there. I've got a bunch!
PS…Tinker seems to be doing pretty well. She's been eating. And, according to our scale, she has gained about 0.5 lbs (which for a cat is good). And, she's been acting more normal. She used to walk across my pillow and drink out of my water glass on my nightstand (even though I have a water bowl in my bedroom). She hadn't done that in a while. But, she's doing it again. This morning, I opened my eyes and I had a cat's face about 2 inches from mine staring at me. I guess she wanted me to get up.

Happy belated birthday @LittleSurferGirl7 !!!
Welcome newbies!
Sounds like everyone is doing well. I had a successful weekend, only two drinks each day, which is a win. I had two glasses last night and probably will tonight as well due to dinner plans . However , I’ve been doing a great job of getting my stuff done! It feels amazing.4 -
Thanks @Womona It sounds like you're doing well.
It's almost noon here and I haven't had anything to drink today. I poured out what I had left last night. I haven't waited to start drinking until afternoon in quite some time. I may buy a pint later. And, make tomorrow my Day 1.
I'm trying to replace a pain in the butt hose manifold outside. The sun is beating on my back and my lower back is hurting from bending over. I haven't done this type of work in a while. It's half done, but I'm taking a break.
Have a good day everyone!

Happy Tuesday evening everyone! Hope you got your repair done, @LittleSurferGirl7! I love how handy around the house and garden that you are!
AF last night, but tonight I just wanted wine, so I'm sipping some LeCrema Pinot Noir. I'm going to try not to sip the whole bottle and go back to AF tomorrow. I'm ok with AF 2 days in a row/A Day/back to AF 2 days in a row. It's still way less than last month!

I have to back down on the fat juice. Last night I had two glasses of wine with a delicious dinner at this new French brassiere in town. I’m sure all the salt and butter and bread played a big part in why my weight is up today, but the wine sure isn’t helping!
Going to dinner tonight but will stick to just one!
Hope everyone has a great day.

Today is going to be a hot one, probably the hottest day we've had this year, hitting mid 90's. I'm ready… I already completed my walk but only 2 miles today as I had to be back in time for the electrician to come to my house and do absolutely nothing….but that's another story.
Not doing well with AF days. I refused to do a LA category this month as it's easy for me to start to justify….so it's all or none. The scale is maintaining…but I could do so much better, I know. Gotta get the mind right!
@BurnMode05 AF at a casino! Definitely a win!!!
@LittleSurferGirl7 ~ you are quite the "handy" person. I am not. The best I did was hang curtains after I got an astronomical quote for window coverings! Talk about motivation! Glad to hear that Tinker is doing better.
@chicbuc ~ You are doing well and less is the name of the game!!
@Womona ~ I totally understand.
Wishing everyone a great, sunshiny day!!!😎

@Womona I love how you refer to the booze as "fat juice". Strangely, it wasn't fat juice in my 20s and 30s, but OH MY soon as perimenopause and menopause hit did it ever exacerbate the midsection bloat and halting of digestion and you name it.
Well, here I am at month 10 AF and yesterday I could have chugged a bottle of silver tequila and scream. Imagine that, I would have a 3 day hangover easily. You can't just stop drinking for long then suddenly one day go have many drinks. Even 2 would really mess me up. I have zero drinking strength in me, it's gone.
I fixed myself my lime juice with seltzer and pinch of turmeric and ginger and forgot all about it. My husband received a tough diagnosis (herniated discs and stenosis) and it's severe and he's going thru pain meds and he needs a lot of care and if no improvement in the next month or so, off to surgery he goes. At least finally after 6 months he agreed to listen to the ortho and go to PT.
Guys, old age comes at us wickedly FAST. Daily self-care is a non-negotiable priority for everyone to prevent future pain and illness.

@chicbuc Your plan for AF 2 days in a row/A Day/back to AF 2 days in a row sounds like a very good plan.
I woke up again with no alcohol in the house. So, I am AF so far for the day. Although, it's only 9 am 😐️ But I'm going to try my best to be AF today. When I woke up this morning, the first thing I thought was getting up and mixing a drink. It's such a habit or routine.
I've got a few plants to add drip nozzles to later. But that's easy because I already have the supply lines in and I feel pretty good today. Other than that, I have a few easy things to do in the house. Anyways, I'm really hoping to be AF today. For some reason, Day 1 is always the hardest for me.

@itladyee I agree with you on the LA category. If I were to only have one drink, I would still count that as an A day. But, we all know that I could never have just one drink. Alcohol, to me, is like Lays potato chips…I can't have just one!
2 -
@globalhiker Congratulations on 10 months AF. I hear ya on having a drink after not drinking for a long time. I've actually only had a two or three week streak before and decided to have a few drinks. After just one, I was very buzzed.
Best wishes to your husband. My husband recently had an MRI, and also has some sort of problem with a few of his discs. He didn't really explain it that well to me. But, he may need surgery also.
I agree as we get older, we really need to take better care of ourselves. When we were younger, it was effortless to stay in good shape. But, old age does creep up on you if you're not careful.

Well, I didn't make it AF today. Although, I waited until 3 pm to start drinking. Yesterday, I started at 12:30 pm. In the afternoon, the anxiety thing increased. So I'll just keep trying. But, I think I'll wait until I've made some progress to post.
Have a nice night everyone!

@globalhiker OMG you are so right about the stages of menopause changing everything in terms of losing or even maintaining weight! It just does not come off! So frustrating because I am healthy and active, and yet…
I’m sorry to hear about your husband’s back issues. Sounds painful, but hopefully PT will help tremendously.
I had two drinks last night at dinner out with a friend. I should just start with wine instead of a cocktail, because I know I’ll order a glass of wine afterwards. For some reason a cocktail with dinner doesn’t work. Also, yesterday I got off track with getting stuff done, but am back at it today. Getting back on the horse is the best thing. Just shake yesterday off and get at it today.
Hope everyone has a great day!4 -
I love your comment @Womona - shake off yesterday and get at it today!
Hoping your husband gets relief very soon @globalhiker.
Had my sister here from Florida this week, and had a great time @chicbuc. We will see each other again at a family reunion in February.
No one drank any alcohol (not served and most are AF) at our family gathering one night and then I had some red wine with my sisters’ partner the night before they left.
I’m sitting here looking at my targets and stats and am beginning to see less amounts starting to trend for this month. But it’s the 12th so I’m going to skip the wine today and get back to the gym for some classes.
